Khorfakkan earn last-gasp draw with Bani Yas in six-goal thriller
Tarik Tissoudali scored a stoppage-time equalizer to earn Khorfakkan a deserved 3-3 draw in a cracking Matchweek 24 games against Bani Yas on Monday.
It was a crazy game with a six-goal thriller at Bani Yas Stadium, as the drama lasted until the very last whistle.
Youssoufou Niakate fired Bani Yas in front twelve minutes into the game after he was found unmarked inside the penalty area. Lazar Markovic threaded the ball through to Niakate, who slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Kayque Soares Campos quickly restored the parity for the visitors four minutes later after timing his run perfectly to head in Abdulla Alkarbi's pinpoint cross.
The Malian forward restored the lead for Bani Yas before the break as he netted a spectacular solo goal in the 38th minute, carving through the middle of the field before firing the ball into the bottom corner. He has been involved in Bani Yas' last eight goals, scoring seven and producing an assist.
The hosts started the second half fiercely to secure the three points, and Lazar Markovic doubled their advantage two minutes before the hour-mark with a spectacular sublime strike that smashed the top corner.
The match kept on delivering drama as substitute Cheickna Doumbia halved the deficit and pulled one back after poking in the rebound at the hour-mark.
Khorfakkan kept pressing for the level, and Tarik Tissoudali scored at the death after successfully converting from a penalty spot.
The result means Bani Yas sit eleventh with 26 points, while Khorfakkan are eighth with 33 points.
Elsewhere, two first-half goals and another one in the second half helped Al Ain defeat Sharjah 3-0 on Monday.
Al Ain killed the game from the first half by scoring two goals and netting another one in the dying moments of the second half.
The victory led Al Ain temporarily to the fourth spot with 40 points, while Sharjah remained second with 45 points.
Soufian Rahimi put Al Ain ahead after 33 minutes with a magnificent chip over the onrushing goalkeeper Khaled Tawhid.
Five minutes into the first half's stoppage time, Laba Kodjo successfully stroked the ball into the bottom corner from the spot to double Al Ain's advantage. The Togolese striker equaled Caio Lucas as the top goalscorer of both clubs' encounters with eight goals.
Maro Katinic was shown a red card in the 74th minute due to a foul on Matias Palacios.
Mohamed Awad made it 3-0 in the dying moments after picking up the ball inside the box and steered it into the bottom corner to seal the victory.
Meanwhile, Facundo Daniel's 53rd-minute header and Omar Khribin's 90th-minute goal were the difference in Al Wahda's 2-0 comfortable win over Dibba Al Hisn at Saqr Bin Mohammad al Qassimi Stadium.
It means that Dibba Al Hisn have officially relegated to the second division, accompanying Al Orooba.
It was a cagy first half between both clubs, ending in a goalless draw as Daniel scored the first goal seven minutes before the hour-mark and Omar Khribin doubled their advantage in the 90th minute.
The result left Al Wahda third with 44 points, while Dibba Al Hisn remained 13th with 16 points.
The first spotlight of the game was stolen in the 53rd minute when Facundo Daniel timed his run perfectly to head in Ruben Filipe's cross to be involved in seven goals in the last nine games for Al Wahda as his he scored seven headed goals out of 17.
Following great teamwork from Al Wahda's players ended with the Syrian international Khribin steering the ball into the top corner in the 90th minute.
Meanwhile, the UAE Pro League organized a technical workshop, in Dubai to discuss proposed updates and improvements for the upcoming 2025–2026 football season.
The workshop was attended by UAE Pro League's Board Member, Chairman of the Technical Committee, Hassan Taleb Al Marri, and Musab Al Marzooqi, Acting CEO, in addition to representatives from all 14 professional clubs.

Cosmin Olaroiu calls on UAE players to make World Cup dreams come true
Cosmin Olaroiu says the UAE national team want to deliver qualification for the World Cup as a gift for 'a nation that deserves it'. Fourteen years after he first arrived in the club game as coach of Al Ain, the Romanian has taken charge of the national side with the ultimate prize at stake. They face Uzbekistan in Abu Dhabi on Thursday evening knowing direct qualification to the 2026 World Cup is possible, even if it is hanging by a thread. If the home team can beat the second-placed Uzbeks at Al Nahyan Stadium, they will move to within a point of them in the group. They would then need to better whatever result the Uzbeks achieve against Qatar on Tuesday in their own game in Kyrgyzstan to book their ticket to the United States, Canada and Mexico. Coincidentally, Tuesday is also Olaroiu's birthday. Even though he has been in situ in his new role for little more than a week, optimism has been flooding through the game here since he landed the role. His appointment has infused people with the belief qualification can be achieved without resorting to a repechage play-off in October. It is the 'Olaroiu effect' in motion, but the man himself says only a group effort will bring about success. 'It's not about me,' Olaroiu said. 'I am a small part of this team. I am here to help, and give my support and experience to transfer to the players to reach their dream. 'It is about this group of players. They have the biggest opportunity at this moment that most of them will have in their careers: to participate in a World Cup. 'They should understand this and be very motivated to reach their dream, and the dream of a nation that deserves to get this. For us, this is a big responsibility.' Given how much rests on the game against the Uzbeks, Olaroiu has a tricky balance to strike. He acknowledged his coaching staff have had to rein back the players at points over the past week, so enthusiastic have they been. Even that, though, he regards as positive. 'Sometimes they overload themselves and we have to tell them to calm down a little bit, and this is a good sign that they want it,' Olaroiu said. 'This is the way we should approach the game.' Olaroiu accepts the challenge facing his side is a sizeable one against an Uzbek side which he terms 'one of the biggest teams in Asia'. But he enjoys it that way, he said. 'In my career I have been involved in games against lots of teams who are bigger than us,' the UAE coach said. 'Always, we have one chance, and I will fight for the chance. We have to do this, and tomorrow is our first chance to do this.' If Olaroiu is charged with readying the players for the challenge ahead, then he has an able captain on the field to help carry out the mission. Khalid Essa, the goalkeeper, is almost as adept at delivering a message as his new coach. The Al Ain No 1 said he feels privileged to finally work with Olaroiu. 'I have spent 15 years representing the clubs I have played for and the national team,' Essa said. 'Through these years, I can say I am very proud and lucky that, before I retire, I have played under the guidance of this coach. 'He is a coach who can understand the players inside and outside the pitch. He can extract the maximum from the players. He has leadership characteristics, and knows the players who are here more than any other coach.' Essa, too, emphasised the fact success will only come via a communal effort. 'We are much closer to the World Cup than we have ever been, and we believe in this moment,' Essa said. 'It will be a joint effort between the players, the management, the federation, the fans, and the entire nation. 'If we continue in this way, we can achieve big things. Until this point we have been performing well, but luck wasn't on our side, fate wasn't on our side. 'We don't know what the result will be tomorrow, but we will put in all our efforts, and we are expecting a positive atmosphere. We are seeing that already. 'We are all sailing the same ship here. We all want to qualify for the World Cup. The entire country. To do that, for the next five days we all need to share in the joint effort.'

Sharjah Youth crowned champions of 16th Futsal League
This year's league reflects the Foundation's vision to support youth by providing a safe, motivating competitive environment that nurtures talent, instils sporting values, and prepares participants for promising local and international sports careers. The finals were held at the Wasit Youth Centre Sports Hall, attended by Dr. Abdulrahman Al Yassi, Director of Sharjah Youth, Khaled Issa Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Club, officials, parents, and a large enthusiastic crowd. The event began with the UAE national anthem followed by a musical performance titled 'Sheikh Sultan' by the Sharjah Police Sciences Academy band. The first decisive match saw Khorfakkan Youth beat Al Dhaid Youth Centre 4-1 in the under-15 category. The under-18 final featured Wasit Youth defeating Khorfakkan Youth 4-3 on penalties after a closely contested game. The introduction of the 'Challenge Cup' this year raised the competitive spirit by allowing teams ranked fifth to eighth to compete in a knockout format. This expanded the tournament to 62 matches, highlighting the league's high level and diversity of skills. The Challenge Cup winners were Thameed Youth Centre (first place) and Mleiha Youth Centre (second place) in the under-15 category, and Dibba Al Hisn Youth Centre winning the under-18 category with Al Madam Youth Centre as runners-up. Individual awards celebrated outstanding players: Mansour Badr (Khorfakkan, under-15) and Yaseen Abdulhamid (Wasit, under-18) won best player awards. Best goalkeepers were Mohamed Adel (Khorfakkan, under-15) and Omar Al Hantoubi (Khorfakkan, under-18). Top scorers were Omar Ahmed Al Rukibi (Wasit, under-15) and Abdullah Khalifa (Al Madam, under-18). This edition reaffirmed Sharjah Youth's status as a leading platform for nurturing a skilled, sportsmanlike generation that embodies the values championed by the Quarter Century Foundation.
