The 'Dayton Around the World Exhibit' features a collection of historical documents, photos, and geologic specimens found in the Dayton area, according to the city.

News Center 7 previously reported that the exhibit was put on display for the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to 'celebrate Dayton's legacy from our pioneering role in aviation and innovation to our proud role in advancing peace through the Dayton Peace Accords,' according to Congressman Mike Turner.
Anyone can check out the collection at the Old Courthouse on Courthouse Square, May 27-29, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Starmer: Wave of investments will make military an ‘integrated fighting machine'
Sir Keir Starmer has pledged a wave of new investments to turn the armed forces into a 'formidable, integrated fighting machine' as part of the Government's defence review. The Prime Minister said he would invest in a military that is 'more integrated, more ready, more lethal than ever'. As part of the review, due to be published on Monday, the Government has pledged £1.5 billion to set up at least six factories, and will support the procurement of up to 7,000 UK-built long-range weapons. The move is in response to the review's call for an 'always on' munitions production capacity that could be scaled up quickly. The new funding will see UK munitions spend hit £6 billion during this Parliament and support around 1,800 jobs throughout the country. Sir Keir called the review a 'radical blueprint' that would drive forward investments in shipbuilding, drone technology and cyber defences. Preparing for the threats of tomorrow means 'bringing together every capability we have, from drones, to artillery, to human instinct and intelligence, into one formidable, integrated fighting machine,' he wrote in The Sun. 'To achieve this, we are announcing a wave of new investments in our Armed Forces across land, air and sea.' He said Labour would end the 'disgraceful hollowing out' of the armed forces. 'We will invest in a fighting force that is more integrated, more ready, more lethal than ever — putting Britain back where it belongs as a leader in defence and a leader in Nato. 'We will provide better kit for our warriors when they are fighting abroad — so that they can use the full range of conventional and technological capabilities.' Defence Secretary John Healey said the Government would embrace the recommendations in the review and make defence an 'engine for economic growth'. It will urge the the Ministry of Defence to lay the industrial foundations to boost weapons stockpiles to meet the demand of 'high-tempo' warfare. More than £1.5 billion in extra funding will go to military homes in response to the review. The cash will be spent on urgent repairs such as fixing boilers and roofs, and other issues including tackling damp. 'Our forces make extraordinary sacrifices to keep us safe and to serve this country and yet for years, we've forced their families to live in substandard homes,' Mr Healey said on a visit to military accommodation in Cambridgeshire. The Conservatives criticised the investment in munitions factories as too slow. Shadow defence secretary James Cartlidge said the Chancellor has used the strategic defence review to put an 'effective freeze' on new orders for military kit. 'It's a bit rich of Labour to talk about 'always on' munitions production when procurement has been largely switched off for the past year,' he said. He added: 'Of course, we welcome investment in new munitions factories, but we don't know when they will be ready, only that these orders should have been placed months ago. 'Ultimately, we need to see greater ambition for the pace and scale of rearmament our armed forces require, given the threats we face and the need to replace inventory gifted to Ukraine. 'That means 3% of GDP by the end of this parliament, and Labour properly prioritising defence spending – instead of seeking to outspend Reform on welfare.'

More than 600 Wisconsin Guard soldiers ready for deployment with sendoff in Oshkosh
OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) – Over 600 Wisconsin National Guard soldiers received a heartfelt sendoff at the Kolf Sports Center on Friday morning, surrounded by loved ones and state military leadership. The soldiers, assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 127th Infantry Regiment and Gulf Company, 132nd Brigade Support Battalion, are mobilizing to active duty and will soon deploy to the U.S. Central Command area of operations. 'It was a two-year readiness cycle that started on the individual level,' said Spc. Alfonso Cordova of Milwaukee. 'We were graded on our performance to determine our readiness for this upcoming deployment.' Cordova said the road to deployment has been long and demanding, but he's honored to serve. 'The opportunity to serve my state and serve the nation alongside these great people — it's fantastic,' he said. 'Sometimes you can get a little down in the dumps, but having good family and good friends helps pick you up.' For many families, Friday's ceremony was a moment of both pride and heartache. 'I'm here for my cousin Tony Jones,' said Kimora Johnikin, who traveled from Milwaukee. 'We grew up together. We are the same age. We wish him nothing but the best. We're honestly beyond proud of him.' Tony's aunt, Glenda Bennett, echoed that pride. Sharing that he recently graduated from Marquette University with a 3.9 GPA and completed training with the Cedarburg Police Department. Several area jails to receive state funding for renovations, improvements
Several area jails will receive state funding for construction and renovation projects, according to a spokesperson from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's office. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On Friday, DeWine and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Director Annette Chambers-Smith announced that 19 jails across the state will receive grants totaling about $50 million. The jails in Champaign, Darke, and Logan counties will all receive funding, according to the spokesperson. The Tri-County Jail, located in Champaign County, will receive approximately $46,568 to renovate a space for court hearing video services and a private space for mental health services. The Darke County Jail, which opened in 1983, will get approximately $136,809 to conduct a needs assessment and feasibility study to determine the need for a new jail. The Logan County Jail will receive $549,012 to improve HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems. The funding will also help renovate the intake, booking, and medical areas of the building. 'This funding will not only support safer environments for those living and working in our local jails, but it will also help prepare inmates for release by creating improved spaces for workforce development, educational opportunities, and other programming,' DeWine said.
