'Belt to behind': Michigan football's NIL golf outing sparks MSU rivalry trash talk
Michigan football is holding its annual golf outing, fundraising through the NIL collective arm, Champions Circle. And rivalries appear to be on the mind.
Though Ohio State is the chief rival, it appears that Michigan State is the current target of the Wolverines' ire.
Without any context to the situation, defensive linemen Rayshaun Benny, Derrick Moore, and Tré Williams started musing about the Battle for the Paul Bunyan Trophy. It started seemingly by Benny, a former MSU commit, before Williams, the Clemson transfer, starting having his turn.
"Go to lil' bro in East Lansing," Williams started. "Go to lil' bro crib in East Lansing, pop out, it's gonna be a good time."
"Same thing as Norman," Benny said. "Turn that green into blue."
At that point, Moore started taking off his belt, and whipping it into the ground, as the group said, "Belt to behind!"
Michigan has won three straight in the series against MSU, with the last loss coming in 2021 in East Lansing.

Ohio State and Penn State are expected to be the best teams this year according to most of the media, but that's not what Jake Butt from the Big Ten Network thinks. In a segment on social media, Butt provided his picks for teams that will play in Indianapolis, and he omitted Ohio State, picking Penn State to tussle with Oregon instead. It's all opinion, of course, and it's not like the Ducks aren't a program to reckon with almost annually now, so there's that. But Butt not identifying his alma mater, Michigan or the Buckeyes, is an interesting take, especially considering Oregon lost as much talent as OSU. But never fear Ohio State fans, Butt did mention Ohio State as one of the teams that will contend for a College Football Playoff spot -- so there's at least that. Ohio State defending its title and having a shot at a conference crown will largely depend on the production it gets at the quarterback spot and how well the defense plugs some of those gaps lost to the NFL. It won't take long to see how those questions are answered because the Buckeyes open up against Texas in Week 1. Let the countdown continue. Michigan football adds Clarion transfer P Hunter Robertson to bolster 2025 special teams
@UMichFootball It's unclear if Missouri punter Luke Bauer actually transferred into Michigan football, but regardless, the Wolverines are adding to the room. A fellow transfer at one point from Mississippi State, Hudson Hollenbeck handled the punting duties in the ReliaQuest Bowl after it was revealed that starter Tommy Doman Jr. would be transferring (he has since ended up at Florida). But the maize and blue would like more depth, and thus got it, dipping into the lower level. According to his X (formerly Twitter) account, former Clarion punter Hunter Robertson has committed to the Michigan Wolverines, adding some depth to the room. With the Golden Eagles, Robertson punted 51 times for 2,201 yards (an average of 43.16 yards) with a long of 70 yards. Listed by Clarion at 6-foot-5, 180 pounds, Robertson is entering his third year of college football. He's a Michigan native, originally from Huntington Woods in Oakland County. Robertson is also capable of handling kickoff duties, if needed, as he was Clarion's place kicker as a true freshman before taking over punting duties later in the year.
