PM Modi also held a review meeting with the officials at the airport in Ahmedabad. He also visited the Air India plane crash site in Ahmedabad and reviewed the ground situation.
Meanwhile, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has confirmed the recovery of the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR), commonly referred to as the black box, from the rooftop of a building at the site of the Air India Flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation clarified that, contrary to circulating reports, a video recorder that had been recovered at the crash site was not the DFDR.
The AAIB has launched a full-scale investigation into the crash, with over 40 staff from the Gujarat State Government joining efforts to support the Ministry of Civil Aviation teams on the ground.
The black box, a critical piece of evidence, will be analysed to determine the cause of the tragic crash that claimed the lives of all 241 passengers and crew, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
The accident occurred on Thursday when Air India flight AI-171, a Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 aircraft, crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The flight was headed to London's Gatwick Airport.
Vishwashkumar Ramesh miraculously survived the Air India plane crash a day ago, in which 241 other passengers died. Kumar, a British national of Indian origin, was seated in row 11, at the left window seat in the flight's economy class section, right behind an emergency exit.
According to Air Traffic Control (ATC), the aircraft departed from Ahmedabad at 1339 IST (0809 UTC) from runway 23. It made a Mayday call to ATC, but thereafter, the aircraft did not respond to the calls. Immediately after departing Runway 23, the aircraft crashed outside the airport perimeter, and heavy black smoke began emanating from the accident site.
As per Air India, the aircraft was carrying 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national. (ANI)

AAP government wasting money on fake advertisements: Bikram Singh Majithia

Ludhiana: Former minister and senior Akali Dal leader, Bikram Singh Majithia , on Saturday, said that the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government has nothing to show in the name of performance but is wasting money on fake advertisements. Addressing election meetings in favour of party candidate Parupkar Singh Ghumman in Ludhiana West, Majithia said that all major projects in the state, including those in Ludhiana, were implemented by the SAD government led by Parkash Singh Badal. He claimed that during the last three and a half years, the AAP government led by Bhagwant Mann had failed to initiate a single project. He asked people whether they had seen Bhagwant Mann or Arvind Kejriwal inaugurating any project in the state. Lashing out at the CM, he accused him of completely surrendering before Arvind Kejriwal, who is calling the shots in the state. He claimed that the Punjab government was spending Rs 800 crore annually on fake advertisements on the orders of Arvind Kejriwal. According to him, the budget for advertisements during the SAD government was around Rs 30 crore annually, which was increased to Rs 150 crore during the Congress regime, and had now been increased to Rs 800 crore. Majithia said that this had led to Punjab landing in a debt trap of Rs 4 lakh crore. MSID:: 121850993 413 | Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Bring the action to Hyderabad, chief minister Revanth Reddy tells Tollywood

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday called on the Telugu film industry to draft a vision document that would contribute to Telangana's goal of becoming a $3 trillion economy by 2047. Speaking at the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards 2025 function in Hyderabad, Revanth said that just like the govt is preparing sectoral plans for IT, pharma, and other industries, the film industry too will have a dedicated chapter in the state's upcoming Vision 2027 document. 'Bring Hollywood and Bollywood to Hyderabad — this is where the action should be,' the CM told acclaimed director SS Rajamouli. 'You tell me what infrastructure you need; we will create it,' he said. Revanth said that while govt decisions may sometimes appear stringent, they are always aimed at empowering the film industry. Recalling the legacy of Congress govts, he said it was the Congress that instituted the Nandi Film Awards in undivided AP in 1964. He added that no film awards were given over the past 14 years, but the Telangana govt has now revived them, honouring filmmakers and artistes for every year since the formation of the state in 2014. Addressing the new generation of actors, Revanth urged stars like Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, and Allu Arjun to take a leadership role in advancing the industry's contribution to the state's economic vision. 'When India marks 100 years of independence in 2047, Telangana should also celebrate by achieving this ambitious milestone,' he said. Revanth emphasised that Telangana's competition is not with other Indian cities like Amaravati or Mumbai, but with global economic powerhouses such as New York, Tokyo, and Seoul. 'Regardless of my role in politics or govt, I am committed to achieving our $3 trillion goal,' he asserted. Paying tribute to revolutionary balladeer Gaddar, in whose name the film awards are instituted, the CM said, 'Gaddar inspired the movement for a separate Telangana. He remains a guiding force for us all.' On the occasion, the CM announced a govt contribution of Rs 3 crore to the Gaddar Foundation. Gaddar's son, Surya Kiran, thanked the govt and said the funds would help preserve Gaddar's memory and ideals. Deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka and cinematography minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy presented the film awards. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . HC grants conditional relief to IPS officer in central deputation row

1 2 Cuttack: Orissa high court on Friday provided conditional relief to senior IPS officer Satish Kumar Ishwardas Gajbhiye, who challenged his central deputation order that would have demoted him from inspector general (IG) to deputy IG. The vacation bench of Justices A K Mohapatra and M S Raman directed Gajbhiye to approach the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) within 10 days with a certified copy of the HC order. The bench also mandated CAT to deliver its final decision within 10 days of filing. The controversy arose when the ministry of home affairs on Dec 6 last year ordered Gajbhiye's appointment as DIG in CRPF, a rank below his current position of IG (communications) in Cuttack. State govt subsequently issued a notification on Dec 12, confirming his deputation. Gajbhiye approached the HC after CAT failed to pronounce its judgment within the stipulated three weeks following the May 9 hearing. Senior advocate Subir Palit, representing Gajbhiye, cited the CAT (Practice) Rules, 1993, which mandate judgment delivery within three weeks of reservation. In his petition, Gajbhiye argued that his demotion would place him under officers junior to him, including those from the 2006 regular recruitment batch currently serving as IGs in the Union govt. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Investire è più facile che mai BG SAXO Scopri di più Undo He emphasised that while pay protection might be available, it cannot justify posting at a lower rank, affecting dignity, facilities and command responsibilities. The court's order also specified that if Gajbhiye approaches either the Union or state govt seeking a post matching his seniority and rank, authorities must consider it independently and respond within 10 days, following existing rules. Deputy solicitor general Prasanna Kumar Parhi and additional govt advocate U C Behera had objected to the petition, arguing that the matter should have been first raised before the tribunal.
