MasterChef Australia: Heartbreaking send-off for fan favourite after shock elimination over burned pastry

Daily Mail12 hours ago

Fan favourite Darrsh Clarke made a heartbreaking farewell on Sunday's episode of MasterChef Australia: Back to Win after his dessert failed to impress the judges.
Darrsh, who won a reputation on the show as the 'dessert king' served up a sweet Choux Tower, which features a Orange Blossom Crème Pâtissière and a Pistachio Praline.
Unfortunately for Darrsh he went wrong with using too many eggs, and he ended up burning the Choux pastry.
'Meeting all of these amazing people, it's been very inspiring to be around, and I think just having that energy to be around you really motivates you and I'm really excited for what's next,' he said before making his sad exit from the kitchen.
First appearing on the cooking competition in 2024, when he placed sixth, the self-taught foodie appeared determined to follow his dream.

'I'm definitely going to use this experience to change my life going forward,' he continued.
It comes after last Sunday saw Tim Bone sent home when his underdone duck failed to wow the judges in the butter challenge.
A pressure test called for the chefs to create a dish that 'celebrated butter' in 75 minutes.
'My heart definitely sank,' the Ballarat chef told Ten after he departed the cooking competition.
'I think I bit off more than I could chew trying to get a beautiful fall-off-the-bone confit duck in 75 minutes, but that's the world we live in, it's a pressure-cooker of an environment, and you never know when your time is up' he continued.
'Unfortunately, my time was up'.
The host of Good Chef Bad Chef said that despite being kicked off the series he was happy with what he had achieved.
'I still walked out with my head held high. I was proud of what I was able to achieve in the competition,' he said.
Meanwhile, Rue Mupedzi set herself up for a huge career in the culinary world after her shock elimination from the Back to Win season on Tuesday.
Instead of hanging up her apron for good, the 29-year-old dental hygienist is planning on becoming a pastry chef.
Rue, who is known as the 'dessert queen' by fans, announced she plans to head to Europe to pursue her dream as soon as possible.
'My vision board is to go to France and gain work experience in the pastry world for six months to a year, as well as explore Europe,' she said in a new interview with Yahoo Lifestyle on Wednesday.
The WA-based kitchen star said her long-term plans included opening her own pastry shop.
Rue returned to MasterChef after her headline making appearance on the show in 2023.
She suffered the heartache of a second MasterChef Australia elimination last week after a tricky pudding failed to impress the judges.
In tears, Rue told the judges that it had been an honour cooking for them and being on the show for a second time around.
'Just being called back among such amazing chefs made me realise I'm also part of the great people,' she shared.

Shock moment Sunrise host Matt 'Shirvo' Shirvington is pushed into a pool of ice water during live cross

Matt 'Shirvo' Shirvington received a cold reception on Monday morning after he was pushed into a pool of ice water live on-air. The Sunrise host, 46, who was dressed in a penguin suit as he presented the AM segment, took an unexpected cold plunge at the Melbourne Cricket Grounds. But it was for a good cause as the TV personality took an icy dip for Big Freeze 11 to raise awareness and funds for Motor Neuron Disease (MND). The charity was started by Neale Daniher in 2014 and has raised over $115 million for MND since its inception. 'I wouldn't say I'm exactly ready to take the plunge,' Shirvo told the camera, as he explained the charity's initiative, which sees celebrities slide into a pool of icy water for the cause. The former track star decided to dip his feet in the -6.2 degrees celsius water to 'test it a little bit'. However, Shirvo was caught off-guard as a producer off-camera took his microphone and shoved him in the icy pool as the studio erupted into fits of laughter. As he tried to get out of the icy water, Shirvo was pushed in again. When the TV host finally managed to get out of the pool, he took off in a sprint around MCG to warm up as his fellow Sunrise hosts giggled. 'That was such a mean thing to do,' anchor Natalie Barr proclaimed, before questioning who shoved Shirvo into the pool. 'I haven't seen him run that fast in a long time,' Shirvo's fill-in David Woiwod quipped. A few weeks ago, fellow Sunrise host Natalie also took a cold plunge during the breakfast program. The presenter, 57, and co-host Shirvo were chatting to Australian boxer Harry Garside about using the bath for muscle recovery and the health benefits of doing so. Natalie then stripped into a black swimsuit as she agreed to jump into an ice bath with the sports star. Before getting into the water, Harry explained: 'Ice baths are obviously exceptional for athletes. But I also think breath work in general is good to calm yourself in chaos. 'Boxing is so chaotic. It's so full on. You get into an ice bath and something similar and you can control yourself with a breath.' Shirvo then said: 'Well jump in guys when you're ready. Good luck.' After getting into the ice bath, Natalie joked the feeling was so uncomfortable she felt like she was going into childbirth. She continued to breath loudly before admitting: 'I hate this.'

Married At First Sight bride Jamie Marinos breaks her silence on pregnancy speculation - amid romance rumours with co-star Eliot Donovan

Married At First Sight's Jamie Marinos has been forced to set the record straight after fans started speculating she might be pregnant. The 29-year-old reality star sparked baby rumours over the weekend after appearing in a gallery of snaps from Voir Vodka dinner at Bar Bambi in Melbourne, which she attended alongside her co-stars Eliot Donovan and Teejay Halkias. The images, shared by @mafsgossip, included a shot of Jamie posing with Eliot - who she has been romantically linked to in recent months - wearing a sleek all-black outfit which seemed to hint at a small bump. 'Is it me or does Jaime look like she's got a bump?' one fan commented, while another added, 'Just don't know if it's a baby bump or photo-shopped to look like it. But 100% it's a bump!' But Jamie wasted no time shutting down the speculation, jumping into the comments to address the chatter directly. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'I'm going to blame the lighting on that, because it does and I can assure you there's no bump,' she wrote, adding a laughing emoji. In another cheeky comment, the blonde beauty joked, 'Why am I excited now for a non-existent baby?' before confirming the 'countless' vodkas she consumed that night were proof enough she wasn't expecting. The MAFS star later doubled down, taking to her Instagram Stories to share the same photo and write: 'What in the optical illusion is this? I look like I have a baby bump.' She added: 'How funny would it be if at an event for an alcohol brand I announce a pregnancy, except it wouldn't be funny because I'd be pissed the f**k off that I'm sober.' Since the show wrapped in April, Jamie and Eliot have emerged as two of the most-followed cast members, regularly sparking dating rumours with their flirty comments, TikTok videos and joint appearances at events. Despite their undeniable chemistry, Jamie previously clarified their relationship during a Q&A with fans, insisting: 'We are really good friends. 'He's been such a great support system, always makes me laugh and I'm super grateful to have him around.' She added: 'We are both single, and focusing on ourselves at the moment – but who knows what the future holds.' The MAFS star later doubled down, taking to her Instagram Stories to share the same photo and write: 'What in the optical illusion is this? I look like I have a baby bump' Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Jamie and Eliot echoed that sentiment, saying they've struck up an 'unlikely friendship' post-show and are simply 'taking each day as it comes'. The pair first sparked romance rumours after attending Daily Mail Australia's reunion party in April. 'Jamie is an absolute babe and I would be very lucky to be in a romantic relationship with her... but at this point in time, we are just close friends,' he told 9Entertainment. 'I'm not in any kind of position to be navigating a romantic relationship but I wouldn't rule anything out. I am absolutely loving going on this journey with Jamie by my side.' Eliot spoke highly of his relationship with Jamie and said their friendship had grown since meeting during filming last year.
