Mesa County School District 51 administration get their rematch
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – At the beginning of the school year, administration from Mesa County School District 51 pulled up to Redlands Middle School and were met with a challenge of a dodgeball game against some of the school's spirit squad, 'the flight squad.' At Wednesday's end of the year assembly for Redlands, the team from D51 got their chance at redemption. 'We wanted a rematch and today we got destroyed again,' said district Superintendent Dr. Brian Hill. 'But it's a fun celebration for the end of the school year to get to hang out with students and staff at Redlands and just celebrate the start of summer.' But the assembly wasn't only for dodgeball. A new award for Redlands Middle School made its debut at the assembly, the 'Soaring Eagle Award.' It's first recipient is an eighth grader named Becker who is battling a rare disease. The school still gave a standing ovation to Becker as he accepted the award Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
