Why Did Rohit Sharma Give Away His Rs 4 Crore Lamborghini Urus To A Fan?
Last Updated:
Rohit Sharma's popular blue Lamborghini Urus has a new owner after the Mumbai Indians cricketer handed over his car keys to a cricket fan. Here's why.
Why did Rohit Sharma give away his prized possession? A question that crossed the minds of many on social when the Indian cricketer handed over the keys of his very own blue Lamborghini Urus to a cricket fan. Yes, the same blue car Rohit Sharma has been spotted driving on the streets of Mumbai. The rare luxury car and its distinct colour have made fans stop in their tracks and approach the car, knowing fully well that it had Sharma aboard, no less driving it. Did Sharma get bored with his ride, or was he just too generous on the day?
Urus is Lamborghini's first SUV in the modern times which was unveiled in 2017. The five-door Italian luxury SUV is available in two models – Performante and SE. The Performante variant produces a whopping 850Nm of torque, thanks to its 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. It can do a 0 to 100 in just 3.3 seconds. While the Urus SE carries the same V8 engine, its hybrid layout helps it achieve a combined 950 Nm of torque. These are not your regular day numbers even when it is under the ownership of Volkswagen group. The ex-showroom price starts from Rs 4.18 crore and can easily breach Rs 5 crore mark depending on which state in India you purchase it from.
Promise
Fortunately, this particular cricket fan did not have to shell out that humongous amount to acquire the rare, luxury vehicle belonging to the celebrated cricketer. As the IPL 2025 kicked off, Sharma was seen in fantasy cricket contest by Dream 11. In the advertisement, Sharma says: '22 March ko Dream 11 pe team banao, aur meri khudki gaadi jeetne ka mauka pao (Make your Dream 11 team on 22 March and stand a chance to win my very own car)."
Stood with his shining car, the number plate read: MH 01 EB 0264.
The number matched the car Sharma gave away to the lucky winner, further suggesting that it wasn't just a random parked Urus at a Lamborghini dealership but Rohit Sharma's very own Lambo.
Rohit Sharma – 264
The car's number plate carries a special memory in Rohit Sharma's illustrious ODI career. It was 2014, during the fourth ODI being played between India and touring Sri Lanka when Sharma unleashed himself. Batting first, India posted a towering score of 404 for 5. 264 runs out of India's score were plundered by the Indian opener. Sharma struck 264 off just 173 deliveries. His explosive innings consisted of 33 boundaries and 9 maximums. Smacked at the iconic venue of Eden Gardens, the 11-year-old record set by Sharma is yet to be broken. Notably, this was his second double century in ODI, the previous one coming against Australia in Bengaluru where he plundered 209 off 158. Sharma also holds a unique feat in ODI history as the only batter to have scored three ODI double hundreds.
His third double ton came against Sri Lanka in 2017 at Mohali. This time he remained unbeaten at 208* (153).
Mumbai Indians Rise
Coming back to the IPL, when it all looked done and dusted for Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful franchises of the cash-rich league, the Hardik Pandya led side made a stunning recovery. MI find themselves on the fourth spot on the points table of IPL 2025. While Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings have already made it to the Playoffs this year, Mumbai and Delhi Capitals will fight it out to grab a ticket to the next round.

Blue Tigers take lessons from Thailand result, set sights on Hong Kong
Pathum Thani (Thailand), June 5 (UNI) The 0-2 loss against Thailand was somewhat of a bitter pill to swallow for the senior India men's national team at the Thammasat Stadium here on Wednesday. The show, however, must go on. Regardless of the result against Thailand, the Blue Tigers now shift their focus to the task at hand in their AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 Final Round Qualifier against Hong Kong, China, on June 10. The senior India men's national team, who had travelled to Thailand with a 28-member squad, will now shift base to Hong Kong five days prior to their Asian qualifier with a 25-man squad, sans goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari, centre-back Mehtab Singh, and full-back Subhasish Bose, who will travel back to India directly from Thailand. Bose was ruled out of the match against Thailand as well due to an injury. Looking back at the match against Thailand, India head coach Manolo Marquez stressed the importance of capitalising on the opportunities that the team creates. 'The reality is that when you don't score, especially the clear chances that we had, usually you lose the game,' said Marquez. 'Thailand have very good players, and if you don't take your chances against them, it will be difficult.' Five days to go for their Asian qualifier against Hong Kong, Marquez is now looking ahead to making last-minute adjustments before the Blue Tigers take the field. 'You can always perform better than you did previously. There is no improvement without self-criticism. I feel that we can obviously play better, but physicality is one aspect that we miss out on in Indian football," he said. 'It was very similar in our match against Vietnam (1-1) last year. We had equalised because we scored from the chance that we got,' he said. 'We had more chances against Thailand, but if you don't score, the other team generally tend to score more than you.' Sandesh Jhingan, who captained the team against Thailand, echoed the coach's words and underlined the importance of introspection and analysing the areas of deficit. 'There were negatives, and it's now up to us to go back to the video room, watch the clips, and try to improve from there. The main game is against Hong Kong, and I think it's good that we got to play a quality team like Thailand before that. This game was a good exercise for us,' said Jhingan. The Blue Tigers will reach Hong Kong on Thursday evening, and begin training on Friday. UNI BM

Need of 6,900 acre land, $9 bn investment by 2030 to set up EV infra: Report
Nearly 6,900 acre of land and $9 billion investments will be required by 2030 for setting up facilities for EV (electric vehicle) manufacturing, lithium-ion battery production and public charging stations , according to Savills India . Real estate consultant Savills India has released report 'Charged for Change: How EVs Are Reshaping Indian Real Estate' stating that the EV market in India has witnessed significant growth in recent years, driven by market forces, government policies, rising environmental concerns, and increasing fuel costs. The government has launched several initiatives to accelerate EV adoption and strengthen the supporting ecosystem. "An investment of $7.5 to 9 billion will be required by 2030, primarily for land acquisition and the development of facilities for EV manufacturing, lithium-ion battery production, and public charging stations," the consultant said. In high-adoption scenario, the required investments will be $9 billion while $7.5 billion will be needed in the case of medium adoption. The report further estimated 5,760 to 6,852 acres of land by 2030 to support EV manufacturing, lithium-ion battery plants, and public charging infrastructure. Srinivas N, Managing Director, Industrial & logistics, Savilla India , said, "Aligning with India's target of achieving 30 per cent EV penetration by 2030, the real estate sector is expected to experience significant growth driven by the rise in EV adoption." The growing demand for EVs will stimulate the need for multiple real estate segments, including industrial and warehousing spaces to support EV and battery manufacturing, EV assembly units, and the storage and distribution of EV components and batteries, he added. Additionally, the expansion of supply chains will increase the demand for strategically located warehouses and logistics parks, said Srinivas. "The government's role with several policies and various initiatives, collectively aims to establish a robust EV ecosystem in the country by fostering innovation, investment and infrastructure development while addressing climate change and energy security concerns," he said. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), in line with projections by NITI Aayog and the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), estimates cumulative EV sales in India to reach 25.3-31.8 million units by 2030 - an annual average of 4.2 to 5.3 million units. According to Savills, this will drive land requirement of 2,009 to 2,467 acres for manufacturing facilities, with a built-up potential of 43.8 to 53.7 million square feet.
