The Sun16-07-2025
KUALA LUMPUR: Integrated aquaculture group Camaroe Bhd has received approval from Bursa Malaysia Securities to list on the ACE Market.
In a statement today, Camaroe, which specialises in the farming and processing of black tiger prawns, said its initial public offering (IPO) will involve the issuance of 99 million new shares, as well as an offer for sale of 49.5 million existing shares to selected investors.
Managing director Tech Han Boon said that, with the group's strong foundation in prawn farming and expanding processing capabilities, the IPO will allow Camaroe to increase production capacity and enhance operational efficiency through new machinery and technology.
'Additionally, it will strengthen our product quality through the establishment of a biotechnology department,' he added.
Camaroe said the IPO will allocate 24.75 million shares or 5% of the enlarged issued share capital to the Malaysian public, with 2.5% made available to public investors and the remaining 2.5% to Bumiputera public Investors. A further 12.38 million shares or 2.5% will be allocated to eligible directors, key senior management and employees through pink form allocations.
Another 61.87 million shares or 12.5%, are reserved for private placement to Bumiputera investors approved by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.
'Proceeds from the IPO will support the construction of a new Bukit Raja processing facility, the purchase of machinery and equipment, and the installation of solar panels to enhance sustainability. Additionally, Camaroe plans to establish a biotechnology department to strengthen its research capabilities and improve farming efficiencies,' the company said.
M&A Securities Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Bill Tan said Camaroe's well-established aquaculture infrastructure, coupled with its vertically integrated model and growing presence in export markets, places it in a favourable position to benefit from rising global demand for premium seafood.
'The group's proven capabilities in producing quality black tiger prawns, as attested by its ability to meet locally and internationally recognised quality standards, make it a compelling listing candidate on the ACE Market,' he added.
M&A Securities is the principal adviser, sponsor, underwriter, and placement agent for the IPO. – Bernama

Two bumiputra companies targeted for listing on Bursa this year, says Ahmad Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: At least two bumiputra companies are targeted to be listed on Bursa Malaysia this year, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The Deputy Prime Minister announced that 15 high-performing companies will be shortlisted under the Bumiputera Rapid Acceleration and Value Enhancement (Brave) programme, with five receiving intensive guidance as part of preparations for listing. "My hope is that at least two of these companies will make it to Bursa by the end of the year. We must aim high," he said when launching the Brave programme here on Monday (July 28). Ahmad Zahid's speech was read by Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick. Ahmad Zahid noted that the Brave programme was launched to provide alternative financing of up to RM1 mil for high-performing Bumiputera companies. It will also introduce comprehensive capacity building to ensure the companies do not just stay afloat but can go a step further. "Brave is the game changer when it comes to rebuilding the Bumiputera entrepreneurship ecosystem," Ahmad Zahid said, adding this can help these companies move from just receiving aid to instead creating wealth. He acknowledged that it is not easy for a company to be publicly listed, however noting that support from the government and strategic cooperation with the private sector can make this process smoother. 'We have the tools and abilities. We only need to be brave and take the step forward. With the right strategies and open minds, BRAVE will not only create publicly listed companies but also icons that can inspire the next generation," he said. Also present was Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan.

MPOB expects palm oil exports to recover in second half of 2025

NEW DELHI: The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) expects palm oil exports to recover in the second half of this year due to stronger festival season demand in key markets. "The demand, particularly from India, is due to the need to replenish stock for the festive season, attractive palm oil pricing and lower import duty on crude vegetable oils,' MPOB director-general Datuk Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir told Bernama. Ahmad Parveez was in New Delhi last week to speak at a conference organised by the Indian Vegetable Oil Producers' Association (IVPA). In the first half of this year, Malaysian exports of palm oil and palm-based products dipped 7.4 per cent to 11.39 million tonnes compared with the January-June period last year, according to MPOB figures. Palm oil exports were recorded at 6.95 million tonnes during the half-year period, representing a drop of 7.7 per cent over the corresponding period in 2024 as demand weakened in India, China, the European Union, Bangladesh and Egypt. Nonetheless, despite a drop in the overall palm oil exports in the first half of 2025, Malaysia saw a growth in volumes to the Philippines, Iran, Kenya and Nigeria. Ahmad Parveez said that although export tonnage had dropped, Malaysia's earnings from palm oil and palm products during the January-June 2025 period surged 9.3 per cent to RM53.43 billion compared with the same period last year. The value of palm oil exports was almost RM34 billion. Malaysian palm oil has gained in geographical reach in recent years. Malaysia's full-year palm oil exports by volume this year are projected to be 5.3 per cent lower than the 16.9 million tonnes recorded in 2024. On the Indian market, Ahmad Parveez said demand remains particularly strong in the food services, household, and food manufacturing sectors. However, there are certain challenges, and one of them is India's import tax. "A key concern is India's import policy, particularly the frequent adjustments to import duties. The recent hike in effective duties on crude palm oil to 27.5 per cent, and on refined palmolein to 35.75 per cent, has significantly narrowed palm oil's natural price advantage compared to soft oils such as soybean and sunflower," Ahmad Parveez said. "While we acknowledge India's policy objective to strengthen domestic oilseed production under the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm, such measures have made palm oil imports increasingly cost-sensitive and less predictable," he said. The price premium of palm oil, along with ample global soybean oil supplies, has led to a drop in palm oil's share in India's vegetable oil imports to 46 per cent this year from 59 per cent in 2023, Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) chief executive officer Belvinder Sron said at the same New Delhi industry conference. However, Malaysia's share in Indian palm oil imports reached 35 per cent in the first half of this year compared with 30 per cent in 2023, Sron said in her presentation. - Bernama
