Lady Gaga Performs to Record-Breaking Crowd at Rio's Copacabana Beach
Lady Gaga performed to a record-breaking crowd Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, as an estimated 2.5 million people attended the singer's free concert on Copacabana Beach. The gig in Brazil marked the highest attended concert by a female artist in history, according to the singer's reps, eclipsing the 1.6 million people Madonna drew to the same venue last year. The record holder for largest concert crowd in history — according to Guinness World Records — remains Rod Stewart, who attracted a crowd of over 4 million to Copacabana Beach on New Year's Eve in 1994. The Copacabana Beach concert marked Lady Gaga's first concert in Brazil since 2012. 'I've missed you so much,' she told an enormous crowd that gathered the previous night just to watch her soundcheck. 'I know that this is not the first show here. I know this is just a rehearsal; it feels like it's the real show.' The concert itself found Gaga replicating the five-act 'gothic opera' that she performed during her headlining sets at Coachella and other Mayhem Ball stops thus far. She'll next travel to Singapore for four shows in that country later this month before the North American arena leg of the Mayhem Ball tour begins in July. Rio de Janeiro's tourism department previously announced plans to continue staging free Copacabana Beach concerts until at least 2028. TIFF 50th Edition Kicking Off With Colin Hanks & Ryan Reynolds' New Documentary ‘John Candy: I Like Me'
The Toronto International Film Festival is opening its 50th edition on Sept. 4 with a look back at one of the Great White North's own: legendary SCTV comedic actor-turned-comedy superstar, John Candy in the Colin Hanks directed, Ryan Reynolds produced new documentary, John Candy: I Like Me. That second part of the title, of course, is a nod to Candy's famous line in John Hughes' Planes, Trains and Automobiles, when his goofy character Del Griffith stands up to the cynical Neal Page and exclaims, 'I like me.' One of Candy's big breakout movies stateside was 1984's Splash in which he co-starred with Hanks' father, Tom Hanks. TIFF will run from Sept. 4-14. 'Comedy fans all over the world grew up on John Candy's humor,' said Cameron Bailey, CEO of TIFF. 'We love that John's global career started in Toronto, and we can't wait to share John Candy: I Like Me with everyone at this year's Opening Night Gala premiere. Colin Hanks has made a hugely entertaining film packed with some of Hollywood's biggest stars, but like John, this movie is all heart. For us, it's the perfect way to kick off TIFF's 50th edition.''When you hear the name John Candy, your face lights up. He wasn't just a great actor; he was an even better person. People loved his everyman qualities, but they didn't know how relatable John really was. He went through the same struggles we all do, except now we talk about them. We are incredibly honored to have gotten to know the man better through this process and to bring the real John Candy to audiences starting with his hometown of Toronto,' said Hanks and Reynolds in a statement. John Candy: I Like Me, an Amazon MGM title, will debut on Prime Video this fall. Amazon MGM Studios also fired up SXSW with the Paul Feig directed movie, Another Simple Favor. How To Vote for ‘Love Island USA' Season 7
Love Island USA season 7 is in full swing. And as singles begin pairing up, hooking up, and competing for that sweet $100,000 prize, all the fans have to do is enjoy the drama and vote for their faves. Eliminations aren't on a consistent schedule, so if you care about who wins, you need to know how to vote for Love Island USA. Because it's 2025 and not the early oughts, there's no number to call or website to log onto. If you want to vote for the Love Island USA winner, you have to download the official Love Island USA app. Available on both Google Play and Apple, the Love Island USA app will alert you when voting is open so you can be sure never to miss a chance to support your fave Islanders and couples. Not only is the Love Island USA app the only way to vote, it also gives users access to tons of BTS content, as well as exclusive access to clips and features like polls and quizzes. And, no, it doesn't cost you a dime. However, you do need to register your phone number to be able to vote. Unlike other reality shows—your Bachelors, your American Idols—Love Island USA eliminations aren't on a specific schedule. So you can't always anticipate when you'll be allowed to vote for your fave contestants (or couples), which makes downloading the app crucial to your participation. Love Island USA airs pretty much every day (except Wednesdays), and the app can keep you in the loop even if you miss an episode. The dating show also doesn't allow for multiple voting, so don't forget to think long and hard about who you want to support before hitting that vote button! Voters don't always get the final say on eliminations from the Love Island USA villa. As contestants date and swap partners, some people will get left behind with or without your vote. That said, it was fan voting that determined last season's winners, Kordell Beckham and Serena Page. May the best couple win.
