US Ski & Snowboard agrees to 3-year partnership with retailer J.Crew for a line of lifestyle apparel
On race day, the U.S. ski team needs sleek and streamlined apparel.
After the finish line, though, it's time for some cool, comfortable and fashion-forward threads. Soon available: An all-American look, with a vintage, mountain vibe.
U.S. Ski & Snowboard is partnering with retailer J.Crew to create a new line of lifestyle outfits that includes pullovers, loungewear, sweaters and cold-weather accessories. It's a three-year deal leading into the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics. J.Crew will have a presence across a multitude of the organization's top events, including a sneak peak of what's in store Tuesday during the World Cup finals in Sun Valley.
'This aligned really well with our strategic goals of broadening more into the lifestyle, après-ski space,' Sophie Goldschmidt, president and CEO of U.S. Ski & Snowboard, said in an interview. ' Mountain lifestyle is becoming just more and more of a focus for us as the world becomes more about experiences and adventure. Given that J.Crew is such an iconic brand, and really going into an exciting place, we just felt it was the right opportunity at the right time.'
U.S. Ski & Snowboard still has Kappa as its technical gear sponsor for races and training. But when the athletes step off the slopes, J.Crew has the outfit.
'We really are two iconic American brands, connecting on sports, lifestyle and fashion,' said Libby Wadle, the CEO of J.Crew Group, whose company launched a collaboration with USA Swimming before last year's Paris Games. 'We're really excited about engaging new fans in this way, celebrating the lifestyle of skiing and snowboarding.'
For ideas on its new product line, J.Crew reached into ski and snowboarding's history. It drew inspiration from old patches, posters and logos. As part of the new collection, J.Crew will tap into storytelling — to highlight these Olympians, world champions and World Cup standouts across all winter sports and disciplines.
'These athletes are the best of the best and they've been through a lot and everyone has an individual story,' Wadle explained. 'That so resonates with our customers and, honestly, anyone out there. We love celebrating that and really helping bring them to a platform that speaks louder to a broader audience.'
Added Goldschmidt: 'It's a three-year partnership because I think it's going to take some time to really optimize the different elements. It's a brand that's willing to innovate.'

Oscar Pistorius has been spotted competing in a triathlon event 18 months after his release from prison for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. The double amputee, dubbed 'Blade Runner' for his prosthetic legs, made his first public appearance at a sporting event since the 2013 killing at an Ironman 70.3 competition in Durban. 'Whilst he particularly enjoyed participating in the event and seems to have been bitten by the bug that is triathlon sport, he isn't eyeing any comeback into competitive running just yet.' Results published online by sports-timing company SportSplits show an athlete called Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius with race number 105 came 555th among all participants in the Ironman race and third in the 'physically challenged' category. The course involved a 2km swim, a 90km bike ride and a 21km run – a total distance of 70.3 miles. Pistorius was once a darling of the sports world, and a pioneering voice for disabled athletes, for whom he campaigned to be allowed to compete with able-bodied participants at major sports events. Pistorius shot Ms Steenkamp, a model and reality TV star, several times through the bathroom door with ammunition designed to inflict maximum damage to the human body. He always claimed he shot his girlfriend in error after mistaking her for a dangerous intruder, saying he didn't realise that she had got out of bed. Pistorius was freed from jail in January 2024 after completing more than half his sentence and is on parole until his sentence expires in 2029. Robertson excited by potential of 'excellent' youngsters in Scotland squad
Scotland captain Andy Robertson is excited by the potential of the new crop of youngsters in the national team squad. The Liverpool defender, who won his second Premier League title last month, is preparing for Friday's clash with Iceland at Hampden. He has been joined in Steve Clarke's squad by the likes of teenage Premiership stars Lennon Miller and James Wilson, and has been impressed by what he has seen. Sturm Graz right back Max Johnston, 21, is another who has caught Robertson's eye, and he has high hopes that he will be watching them qualify for major tournaments long after he has hung up his boots. Speaking to the media on Thursday, the skipper said: 'I've seen them in training this week and they've been excellent. 'Max Johnson's come on, I can talk about fullbacks, he's come on so much in the time since his first camp here, and then to now he looks a hell of a lot more composed. 'He's filled out a bit defensively and looks excellent in training. Obviously, games are different from training, but that's what we can base it on just now. 'Lennon Miller was good in March, but he's been excellent this week in training, and now he looks comfortable, he looks happy, and James Wilson as well has been here a couple of times now, and I think he just keeps on growing. 'Then, understanding the standards and training and how difficult international football is is crucial, and I know from my experience that the younger I experienced it, the better it was. Diaz puts pressure on Liverpool and confirms transfer talks with rival clubs
Luis Diaz has attracted the attention of Barcelona though the La Liga champions have seen a move for him fail, with the Liverpool star now speaking out on his future Luis Diaz has put the ball firmly in Liverpool's court after confirming he has held talks with rival clubs over a potential move. Diaz was a revelation when he first arrived at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp and continued that under Arne Slot. With Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah starring on the wings, Diaz has mainly been deployed as a central striker by Reds boss Arne Slot. He played an important role this season, scoring 17 goals in all competitions as they won the Premier League title. But speculation has been mounting since January that he could be on the move. The Colombian has only two years remaining on his contract and with talks over a new deal at an impasse, several top clubs around the world are interested. One of those is Barcelona, though Liverpool firmly rejected an approach from the La Liga champions for Diaz on Thursday. The attacker is currently with Colombia for their World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Argentina over the next week. Diaz was put up alongside manager Néstor Lorenzo for the press conference to preview the clash with Peru. He was inevitably asked about his future and did little to reassure Reds fans that he felt his future is on Merseyside. "I'm very happy at Liverpool, I've always said so. They've welcomed me very well from day one. We are currently in contact with Liverpool, because we are talking to clubs," Diaz said. "That's normal given the transfer market that's opening. We're trying to arrange what's best for us. We're talking to clubs, it's normal in the market and we're looking at what's best for us. 'I'm waiting to see what happens. If they (Liverpool) give us a good renewal or I stay there for two years, I'll be happy. Now it's up to them.' Diaz's comments come after Liverpool informed Barcelona that the 28-year-old is not up for sale. The Reds have insisted that they would only consider eye-watering money for the Colombian. The Spanish champions approached the Reds about signing Diaz but it was rebuffed this week. Liverpool are not prepared to sell the Colombian and their stance will only change if they receive a huge offer that would allow them to replace him with a similar or better player. The Reds have noted that Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes was valued at £85m by Saudi club Al-Hilal and is two years older than Diaz. So they would want more than that to convince them to sell this summer. Despite that, there are no plans to open contract talks yet with Diaz with only two years left on his contract. Liverpool are ready to maximise his current abilities in his peak years rather than sell for below his valuation just because of his contract situation. That would mean they would be prepared to allow him to leave for nothing in two years. But they are not interested in doing a cut-price deal this summer for a player they believe can still have a big impact.
