Emmerdale fans all say the same thing about Lewis as Bradley Riches debuts

Metro16-05-2025

Emmerdale fans have been bowled over by the arrival of newcomer Lewis Barton following star Bradley Riches' on-screen debut.
Lewis made contact with village mainstay Ross (Michael Parr) earlier this week, sending a letter to Butler's Farm which detailed their shared family history and explained that Emma Barton is his mum too.
Long-time fans of the ITV soap will recall that devilish Emma, who claimed the lives of son Finn and ex James, was pushed to her death by Moira (Natalie J Robb), with Ross helping in covering up her secret.
Fearful that Lewis' arrival could open old wounds, Ross resisted the urge to get in touch with the sibling he never knew existed but, knowing how lonely he's been without his family around him, Moira reckoned it was a risk worth taking.
Left with food for thought, Ross decided to organise a meeting with Lewis, as the brothers met for the first time.
The scenes in question marked the debut of Heartstopper star Bradley, who confirmed that he was joining Emmerdale earlier this year.
The meeting was short, with Ross having seconds thoughts after his newfound brother started to ask about Emma.
But despite having made just one appearance thus far, Emmerdale fans have already made up their minds about newcomer Lewis – and they're all saying the same thing!
Taking to social media, X/Twitter user @corriedalexo wrote: 'I love lewis barton already!!, and they weren't alone, with @Wee_Westie29 echoing such a sentiment, writing: 'I'm loving lewis already.'
It was praise across the board, with @blue_laur11 adding: 'I like the new Barton Brother Lewis he's going to bring cheekiness into the Dales him and Ross are going to be so sweet !!.'
Fan Katie, meanwhile, said: 'Uh oh… I like Lewis already'.
Talk about a first impression to remember!
While Ross contemplates his relationship with Lewis, fans can rest assured that this is just the beginning for the newcomer, who will appear on a more permanent basis in the coming weeks.
In fact, next week Lewis comes face-to-face with Moira!
The crossing of paths comes in the wake of the slurry incident up at Butlers – John Sugden, you menace ! – and thus Moira isn't in the right frame of mind. The farmer is quickly overwhelmed by the bad memories it dredges up.
Lewis, meanwhile, has a secret of his own as Ross learns that he's been growing weed!
Making an impression in an episode largely devoted to the dastardly deeds of Joe Tate and John Sugden is no mean feat but Lewis managed it with ease, proving the perfect antidote to the ITV soap's darker stories. More Trending
Bradley Riches understood the assignment, with his performance ensuring that Lewis would go on to achieve fan-favourite status from his very first line of dialogue.
The character's dynamic with Ross is incredibly sweet and will provide us with the opportunity to see the softer side of Ross once again, which I would argue is when he's at his best.
Much like the fans, I found Lewis a proper breath of fresh of fresh air and I look forward to seeing him slot into the village – and who he'll connect with. A friendship with Ruby or Steph, perhaps? That feels like a must.

Loose Women CANCELLED as ITV panel bid farewell to viewers ahead of schedule shake-up set to leave fans livid

Friday's instalment of Loose Women has been cancelled in a schedule shake-up. Kaye Adams, 62, revealed the news at the end of Thursday's episode of the ITV show. Loose Women usually airs Monday to Friday from 12:30pm on ITV1. But at 1pm tomorrow (6 June 2025), ITV will air the racing, so viewers will enjoy the first Derby meeting from Epsom. After Kaye's co-stars Frankie Bridge, 36, Nadia Sawalha, 60, and Kelly Brook, 45, showed viewers how they sleep at night, Kaye said: 'Well thank God I'm going! That's it for today and this week sadly. 'We're off tomorrow for the racing. 'We've got a great line-up next week though, including Cheshire housewife Tanya Bardsley, 44, Atomic Kitten's Liz, 44. 'She shares a very personal health story. Plus Si King, 58, and Alison Hammond, 50, are here too. 'We will see you Monday. Have a great weekend!' Loose Women has been hitting headlines recently after it was revealed the chat show, along with Lorraine, has been axed for half the year. ITV announced the big shake up to its daytime schedule amid huge cuts last month. Loose Women will only air for 30 weeks of the year. Plus MailOnline recently revealed that ITV will axe a vital part of the show which viewers love in a desperate bid to save money. The series is scrapping their live studio audience when the programme airs with a reduced schedule of just 30 episodes next year. Bosses have got rid of the studio audience to save costs, with insiders revealing that it's an expensive feature due to being managed by an external company, who also provides security and a warmup person, but for the presenters, it's going to be a 'disaster.' A TV source told MailOnline: 'The panelists are really upset over the decision to axe the live studio audience from the show. 'It's what sets the series apart from the rest of ITV daytime and now there are massive fears that viewers will switch off completely. 'The only concern now is to cut costs and having a live studio audience can be expensive, with the added need for security and a warmup artist. 'Presenters already know how it feels to broadcast the show without an audience because that's what happened during the pandemic, and they all know it creates low mood and lack of atmosphere.' Meanwhile Kaye Adams has broken her silence on the brutal ITV cuts. She admitted that she's suffered 'sleepless nights' after her 'life imploded' and 'has no idea what's going to happen.' She told her How To Be 60 podcast co-host Karen MacKenzie: 'To be perfectly honest, we have no idea at this point, what's going to happen. 'I didn't anticipate it, which is probably stupid in retrospect. You get into a sort of rhythm of life. 'I had a couple of sleepless nights I have to say, because it's just like the rug's been pulled from under your feet – what has been familiar.' She continued: 'It's going to have an impact. Lots of people will lose their jobs completely which is terrible. It's a huge change.' Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 from 12:30pm and is available to stream on ITVX.

Ross's initial attack erupted in a greater fight which left him in hospital with injuries to his face and hand. First offender Ross pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the man at Glasgow city centre's Reardon's on August 12, 2024. The court heard that Ross was with friends while the unknown man and his acquaintances were at another pool table. Prosecutor Darren Harty stated that a 'disagreement' had taken place between both parties. He said: 'As a result, Ross struck the unknown man with a pool cue to the side of the body in the hip region. 'He thereafter punched him which collided with his face. 'A further much bigger fight then occurred as a result of that after which Ross was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.' Stephanie Grieve, defending, told the court that Ross was hit with two glasses in the melee. This resulted in a wound to his left ear and damage to tendons in his right hand. 'A disagreement took place which resulted in playground insults which included about Mr Ross' Prince Charming hair and socks he was wearing which went on for 30 minutes. 'He brushed it off until there was a comment made about his deceased father. 'He works as a DJ and has had to reduce his work from six nights a week to two nights a week.' Sheriff David Clapham denied Miss Grieve her initial request for an absolute discharge which would have seen the offence scrubbed from Ross's criminal record. The sheriff said: 'When you heard the comments, you should have left. 'Hitting someone with a pool cue is quite wrong and it is also quite wrong that you followed this up with a punch.' Ross, of the city's Mount Vernon, was fined £320.
