Pittsburgh Steelers Calling about Buccaneers Receiver

Pittsburgh Steelers Calling about Buccaneers Receiver originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
It was previously written about how crowded the wide receiver room is becoming in Tampa Bay. With the team drafting rookies Emeka Egbuka, expecting the return of injured star Chris Godwin alongside Mike Evans, and the emergence of Jalen McMillan in his absence, they are definitely crowded at the position.

The Pittsburgh Steelers may be willing to help alleviate some of the issue.
According to the below note from Zachary Smith of Steelers Now, the Steelers have inquired as to the availability of speedy wide receiver Trey Palmer.
Palmer, a former sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft from the LSU Tigers, has always shown his ability to take the top off of the defense with his speed, running a blazing 4.33 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. He won a championship in 2019 with the Tigers. As you may recall, that team was loaded at receiver as well with the likes of Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Terrace Marshall Jr.

While he has not put up any eye-popping statistics, he would bring a viable fill-in for the recently departed George Pickens. Palmer has shown very consistent hands, and other than the three fumbles his rookie year, he managed to keep from fumbling in 2024.
The Steelers definitely need the help at receiver, and the Buccaneers are always looking to add more draft capital. If the Buccaneers could manage anywhere from a fourth to sixth round pick for a guy who they are currently not using, it may benefit both teams. They always seem to find talent buried late in the draft, and one example of this is their fourth-round find from last year, Bucky Irving.

Dodgers Get Worrying Update on Blake Snell's Future Availability from General Manager

Dodgers Get Worrying Update on Blake Snell's Future Availability from General Manager originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Dodgers understood there were some risks involved in signing Blake Snell. Advertisement Snell has been excellent throughout his career, evident by his two Cy Young Awards. However, throughout his 10-year big league Journey, there have been concerns about him staying on the mound. While Snell has thrown in over 100.0 innings in each of his 10 seasons outside of the COVID year and his rookie campaign, his inability to go late into games is something teams understood in free agency. After throwing in just 9.0 innings for the Dodgers, making two starts, he was placed on the IL with shoulder inflammation. It remains uncertain when the Dodgers plan to bring him back. Still, according to Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes, the idea is to ensure everybody in the rotation gets healthy, and when that happens, they'll proceed from there. Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell (7) on the bench against the Atlanta Braves in the ninth inning at Truist Davis-Imagn Images 'It's just being mindful and methodical about the foundational component and the buildup so that when they come back, the thought is when they come back they're running through what we hope is a deep October run,' Gomes said, per Dodgers Nation. Advertisement The Dodgers have given themselves some breathing room. While winning the National League West has to be the priority, the Dodgers are 36-23 and appear to be guaranteed a playoff spot, whether that be in the Wild Card or by winning the division. Only two games ahead of the San Diego Padres and three ahead of the San Francisco Giants, things could get interesting. Despite that, the Dodgers need to get their arms healthy when it matters most. If that means Snell isn't ready to go sooner than some hope, that's what has to happen. MLB Analysts Highlight Amazing Shohei Ohtani Stat Before Dodgers-Yankees Series

MLB Analysts Highlight Amazing Shohei Ohtani Stat Before Dodgers-Yankees Series originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Shohei Ohtani is widely regarded as one of the best – if not the best – baseball player in the world. Advertisement Although we haven't seen Ohtani pitch in nearly two years, the eight-year veteran has played as the Los Angeles Dodgers' designated hitter since joining the team in 2024 and has been nothing but dominant. In helping lead the Dodgers to a World Series championship in his first year with the team, Ohtani was able to hit an individual milestone in his first year in a Dodgers uniform. He became the first player in MLB history to tally 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season in 2024. Advertisement Before the World Series rematch between Los Angeles and the New York Yankees takes place on Friday night, MLB analysts spoke on Ohtani's major role in the Dodgers' lineup. So far this season, Ohtani is leading the league in home runs (20) and runs (59). His ability to tie power hitting with exceptional speed on the bases has put him on pace to do something we haven't seen in nearly 90 years. "He's got a shot to get more than 154 runs, which we have not seen in almost 90 years... This guy continues to amaze us in so many different ways," MLB insider Tom Verducci said. There's a lot of factors that will have to happen in order to tally 154 runs, but the last time the league saw a player get over 154 runs in a single season was Lou Gehrig in 1936 when he had 167. Advertisement Shohei Ohtani is on pace for 171 runs – a mark that would rank third all-time and further cement his name in MLB history.
