Love Island star Helena Ford appears to take a swipe at rivals as show feud explodes

LOVE Island's Helena Ford may have sent a subtle dig at her fellow reality TV stars just weeks after leaving the Spanish villa. Helena was in a relationship with Harry Cooksley for much of this year's Love Island series, until he decided to recouple with Shakira Khan and would go on to be runners-up. 5 Love Island star Helena Ford appears to take a swipe at some of her show rivals Credit: @helenaforddd / TikTok 5 She seemed to poke fun at Shakira, Yasmin and Toni Credit: @helenaforddd / TikTok 5 Helena was dumped by Harry who moved on with Shakira Credit: @helenaforddd / TikTok 5 Shakira, Toni and Yasmin said they made good friends in the villa Credit: Shutterstock Editorial The blonde bombshell posted a video to TikTok showing her sitting in a hairdressers' chair, with her hair full of foils and it eventually cut to the final result. But it was in the voiceover to which Helena mimed to, that she may have taken a swipe at her fellow contestants, Shakira, Toni Laites and Yasmin Pettet. The audio was a clip from an interview with actress Ariana Greenblatt, who played the 'mean girl' daughter in the Barbie movie. Ariana says: "Whatever, we all know blondes have more fun, because their bleach is in their hair, let's talk about it." Helena's use of the audio could be seen as a dig to Shakira, Toni and Yasmin, who were often billed as the being given the 'mean girls' edit during this series of Love Island. Her TikTok also coincided with the release of an i-D Magazine feature interview with the three Islanders where they talked about feeling grateful they could represent brunettes and in Shakira's case, the South Asian community. "What have I signed up for?" Shakira said in the i-D interview. 'Everyone's gonna love the blonde hair, blue-eyed girls, we see year in year out on Love Island. I thought, based on initial attraction, it wasn't going to go well for me, but I was pleasantly surprised.' Shakira, Toni and Yasmin also addressed the ongoing feuds and rivalries in the villa describing at "classic High School behaviour". 'We felt that massively in the changing room, the snickers, the whispers, the dirty look," Shakira said. "When you come around the corner and they stop talking, you feel isolated, it feels frosty, really tense, and it's not nice. "It wasn't a bad edit; we tried to fix it, but that was our experience, we lived it.' Despite having a rocky relationship with some of their co-stars, the trio stuck together and gracefully took on every obstacle thrown at them. Toni won the series alongside Cach and scooped a prize of £50k, while Shakira and Harry and Yas and Jamie are also going strong. Despite each bagging themselves a new fella, they have proudly said that the real prize is the friendships they made.

Labubu-maker's revenue could hit over €4bn this year

Pop Mart chief executive Wang Ning said on Wednesday his toy company was on track to meet its targeted revenue goal of 20 billion yuan (€2.4bn) in 2025, and that "30 billion (€3.6bn) this year should also be quite easy." Wang, who founded the company in 2010, was speaking with analysts after Pop Mart announced record half-year results on Tuesday, with the makers of the ugly-cute Labubu doll reporting net profit soared nearly 400% as demand for the toys surged, particularly in higher-margin overseas markets. Pop Mart shares were up more than 5% in early Wednesday trading in Hong Kong. Executives also said on Wednesday that expansion in emerging markets in the Middle East, Central Europe and Central and South America was being explored. "I think for overseas markets we're still very positive, and we also believe there's still very broad space for growth," Wang said, adding that sales from North America and Asia Pacific this year would together equal China sales in 2024. In the United States, where Pop Mart currently has about 40 stores, Wang said the company will begin a phase of "relatively rapid store openings" over the next year or two, with 10 more U.S. shops expected to open by the end of this year. Pop Mart's primary business is producing and selling collectible toys, many of them developed with artists and sold in "blind boxes", packages consumers buy for around $10 to $20 without knowing exactly which iteration of the toy is inside. Labubu, a toothy-grinned member of "The Monsters" series of toys designed by Kasing Lung, has become a favourite of celebrities including Rihanna and David Beckham and has sold out around the world. Until now most popular as a charm for handbags, Pop Mart says it will this week launch a mini version of Labubu that can be attached to phones. Pop Mart said on Tuesday "The Monsters" raked in 4.81 billion yuan ($669.88 million) in the first half, accounting for 34.7% of total revenue. Four other toy series' earned more than 1 billion yuan during the period, including "Molly" and "Crybaby", it added. "We expect more restocking of existing series and launch of new editions to drive earnings expansion in the second half. That said, shares likely remain overpriced as investors are overlooking the high business risk in the long run, in our view," said Morningstar analyst Jeff Zhang. Shares in the company have risen more than 230% year-to-date, making Pop Mart more valuable than traditional industry giants like Barbie-maker Mattel MAT.O, and Hello Kitty parent company Sanrio 8136.T. Next in Pop Mart's sights is a Disney-esque empire with executives saying the firm is optimistic about opportunities for Pop Mart characters to star in animated films and theme park attractions, though these are not expected to contribute a large amount of direct revenue in the short term. IT'S the end of an era in Summer Bay – as a Home and Away legend has sensationally quit the Aussie soap after 33 years on screen. Their exit will mark one of the longest-serving stints in Aussie soap history. Irene Roberts, played by Lynne McGranger, is bowing out after an incredible 33 years on Home and Away. The 72-year-old actress first arrived in Summer Bay back in 1992 and quickly became a fan favourite thanks to Irene's fiery one-liners and big heart. From battling her drink demons to becoming a mother figure to countless foster kids, Irene has been at the heart of some of the soap's most emotional storylines. Lynne's portrayal has earned her the title of the longest-serving female cast member in Aussie soap history. The heartbreaking scenes will see Irene rally her loved ones for one final bash before saying goodbye to Summer Bay forever. Longtime pals and familiar faces are set to return for her send-off, with producers promising plenty of nostalgia for die-hard fans. In the trailer, Irene is seen fighting back tears as she admits: 'I don't want to forget the people I love most.' Viewers have already praised the storyline for shining a light on the devastating realities of Alzheimer's, with many saying Lynne's raw performance has left them 'in bits.' Soap star reveals he was drugged and raped by two men – and his dad's heartbreaking response when he was told As she prepares to head off on her global adventure, Irene's parting words look set to cement her as one of Home and Away's all-time greats. Fans say the Bay just won't be the same without her. The actress filmed her final scenes in March, and revealed it was an emotional day for herself, cast and crew. She said: "I've had the ride of my life. And I love each and every one of you so much: The cast – Ray, Georgie, Emily, Shane, Ada, James, all the youngins. Most devastating soap deaths SOAP viewers are frequently left heartbroken after watching some of their favourite characters bite the dust. Here is a list of the most devastating deaths that have taken place in soapland over the years. EASTENDERS Barry Evans - Evil Janine (Charlie Brooks) lured her trusting fiance to Scotland for a quickie marriage after learning he was dying. Her plan to inherit Barry's fortune was thwarted when Barry told her that the doctors had mixed up his medical files. Furious that she was no longer set for a windfall, she pushed Barry off a cliff after telling him their love was 'fake'. Bradley Branning - Bradley was accused of killing Stacey Slater's rapist Archie Mitchell (Larry Lamb) after he punched him twice on the night he died. He was spotted in the Square by a police woman who chased him up a fire escape. Bradley lost his balance and tragically plunged to his death. CORONATION STREET Tina McIntyre - Tina was getting it on with Peter Barlow - despite him being married to Carla Connor. When she threatened to reveal the truth, Carla's brother Rob got into a physical altercation with her. Tina lost her footing and fell off a balcony - then warned Rob she was going to tell the cops he pushed her. In a panic, Rob brutally clobbered her over the head with a metal pipe. Molly Dobbs - Molly was one of the victims in Corrie's 2010 tram crash, alongside Ashley Peacock (Steven Arnold). Married to Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Molly had been having an affair with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) in the months before her death. This resulted in the birth of their son, Jack (Kyran Bowes), who was named after Jack Duckworth. As fate would have it, Kevin's wife Sally (Sally Dynevor) was by Molly's side in her final moments. Sally was stunned as Molly confessed Kevin was Jack's father, before dying of her injuries. Vera Duckworth - Having appeared regularly in Corrie since the 1970s, there was no denying Vera Duckworth was an iconic character. Alongside her husband Jack, the pair formed one of the soap's most beloved couples. Viewers were heartbroken when Vera was killed off in 2008, being discovered having passed away peacefully in her chair. Liz Dawn, who played Vera, made a brief return two years later for Bill Tarmey's exit as Jack. Paul Foreman - Fans were heartbroken when Paul Foreman succumbed to his illness after battling motor neurone disease. Introduced in 2018 as David Platt's (Jack P. Shepherd) cellmate, he later embarked on a romance - and marriage - with vicar Billy Mayhew. The MND storyline was announced in 2023 - with the expectation it would result in the character's death. EMMERDALE Sarah Sugden - After the family got into financial problems, Sarah's son Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) decided to make some quick cash from an insurance company by setting fire to the Sugden barn. He didn't realise his mum was inside the building, and she got trapped in the blaze. Nine villagers - The shocking 1993 plane crash episode brought in 18 million viewers for Emmerdale. Mark Hughes was killed by a falling wall, Archie Brooks was burned by jet fuel, Elizabeth Pollard was killed by debris and newcomer Leonard Kempinski died in a car crash caused by the crash. Five other non-recurring characters from the village also died. HOLLYOAKS Carmel McQueen - The talented singer died in shocking scenes when a train crashed into a her family's car. Carmel managed to free her cousin Theresa from the rubble - but got stuck in it herself. Moments later the train exploded and Carmel died in the arms of her family members, promising to be their guardian angel. "The art department, the writers, everybody – there are so many unsung heroes. This show is made up of so many parts' Lynne continued. "You're all amazing, and it's been my great privilege to work with each and every one of you. I'm touched, I'm humbled and I'm so honoured. Thank you so much." Lynne announced her departure from the show earlier this year. She explained: "After almost 33 years in my dream role and working everyday with people who I love, respect and whom I now consider family, it's bittersweet to be closing the chapter on what has been the best and longest gig of my life. "I am forever grateful to the best production crew in the world and to our genius writers – whose doors are always open – for everything they have done for Irene over the past 33-odd years. "And I am so proud of the storyline which will see Irene out of the Bay. "Above all, a massive, heartfelt thank you to the fans for your continued love and support." Another standout moment in the trailer shows Ada Nicodemou breaking down in a moving scene with soap legend Lynne. Ada – who's played Leah for 25 years – is seen telling Irene: 'I just knew everything would be alright because you were by my side.' But it's Irene's bond with her closest pal John (Shane Withington) that promises to have fans reaching for the tissues. The teaser hints John may struggle to face Irene's farewell bash – and in heartbreaking scenes, he tells her: 'I don't know how to say goodbye... I don't have the words.' Viewers last month saw John help Irene confront the devastating truth about her condition – and now he's left broken as she prepares to leave Summer Bay behind. The trailer also features a tear-jerking montage of Irene through the decades – from fiery clashes to iconic one-liners – celebrating Lynne's incredible 33 years on the soap. 5 Irene first arrived in Summer Bay back in 1992 Credit: Alamy 5 The actress said: "And I am so proud of the storyline which will see Irene out of the Bay" Credit: Getty
