Transfer news: Gyokeres to Arsenal, Ekitike to Manchester United

The latest transfer news continues to swirl as Premier League big boys are eyeing up some huge moves early in the summer. Let's focus on the latest transfer news making the headlines. Viktor Gyokeres heading to Arsenal? The Swedish striker, 27, has been linked with every big club in Europe over the last few years and it seems certain he will leave Sporting Lisbon this summer. But according to Fabrizio Romano, he will not be heading to Manchester United to link up with his former manager Ruben Amorim. Per the report, Gyokeres is keen on a move to Arsenal and that is his priority. That news will delight Gunners fans as Gyokeres would be a totally different profile of striker and his arrival would give them the clinical finisher they've been craving. It would also free up Kai Havertz to play as a No. 10 or on the left and that makes the Gunners much stronger in attack. Gyokeres has scored 97 goals in 102 games in all competitions for Sporting over the last two seasons and his large frame is ideal for hold up play, plus his ability to run free on the counter will suit Arsenal's style perfectly. There are other reports suggesting that Arsenal are becoming frustrated with Sporting but if Gyokeres wants this move, the Gunners have to get it done. Soon. Manchester United in the hunt for Hugo Ekitike Eintracht Frankfurt's young French striker Hugo Ekitike is being chased by Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United as the 22-year-old is projected to become one of the best all-round forwards in the world. According to FootMercato, discussions are ongoing between Man United and Ekitike over a deal and it's progressing in the right direction. He is valued at over $108 million by Frankfurt after a breakout campaign which saw him score 22 times in all competitions last season. United have already signed Matheus Cunha to boost their attacking options next season and another striker is essential if they're going to become candidates to qualify for the Champions League in Ruben Amorim's first full season in charge. With Gyokeres not wanting a move to United, it appears the Red Devils are now going all-in on Ekitike. He fits the profile of player they have been signing in recent windows and is in the sweet spot of having plenty of potential and room for improvement, but also proving himself as a regular goalscorer in one of Europe's top leagues. United need the latter desperately.

Another La Masia talent set for pre-season with Barcelona first team under Flick

Another La Masia talent set for pre-season with Barcelona first team under Flick Hansi Flick, much like in his first year, will again work with a strong group of academy players during Barcelona's upcoming pre-season. Only Gerard Martin, who requires surgery after a metacarpal injury, and Pablo Torre, currently playing in the Under-21 European Championship and likely to depart this summer, are expected to miss the start of pre-season. Advertisement Everyone else will begin from day one, which is excellent news for Flick. Additionally, with Barcelona not participating in the FIFA Club World Cup, the squad will be mentally and physically fresh to prepare properly for the new campaign. Several promising youth players will join the first team for pre-season training, including Pedro Fernandez, Juan Hernandez, Jofre Torrents, Landry Farre, and Toni Fernandez. As reported earlier today, Ibrahim Diarra is also expected to take part in some sessions. Guille Fernandez also set to be called up Now, according to SPORT, another La Masia player who, barring surprises, will start pre-season with the Barcelona first-team setup under Flick's orders is Guille Fernandez. Flick wants Guille for pre-season. (Photo by) Advertisement The midfielder, widely seen as one of La Masia's top prospects, is just 17 years old and will be a second-year youth player next season. He has already had a prominent role with Barça Atletic over the past year. It has not been an easy few months, for him or for the team, but the experience has provided valuable learning at this early stage of his career. Flick wants to involve Guille in the first few weeks of pre-season. The plan also includes taking him on the club's Asian tour – he already participated in last year's tour of the United States. What about the future? As for his short-term future, Guille is eager to stay at Barcelona and prove his unquestionable talent. However, he is aware that his position in midfield is heavily populated, and securing a place will be challenging. Still, many scenarios are possible. Advertisement Several paths remain open. Guille has received attractive offers from clubs such as Porto and Borussia Dortmund, both known for developing young talent. For now, his focus is fully on Barcelona. What comes next remains to be seen. All options are on the table – whether that means staying, a transfer with a buy-back clause, or a loan move.

Barcelona captain reaches agreement with Galatasaray despite initial doubts

In a surprising twist to Barcelona's summer transfer window, Turkish outlet Fanatik (h/t Mundo Deportivo) reports that club captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen has reached an agreement with Galatasaray, signalling a potential end to his long and decorated tenure at Camp Nou. It is known that while the German goalkeeper still has a contract with Barcelona until 2028, he has grown increasingly unsettled due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his role and the club's long-term sporting project. Advertisement Despite Ter Stegen's recent public statements expressing his desire to remain at Barça, the situation appears to be shifting rapidly behind the scenes. Ter Stegen is ready to leave According to the outlet, Ter Stegen is ready for a new challenge, and Galatasaray are keen to pounce. The Turkish giants, fresh off a high-profile coup in the form of Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich, appear to be making a bold statement about their ambitions. Negotiations between Galatasaray and Barcelona have not yet reached the final stages, but the Turkish club's strategy is clear. Galatasaray want to sign Ter Stegen. (Photo by) Advertisement They want to secure Ter Stegen on a free transfer or, at the very least, a symbolic fee so they can redirect the bulk of their budget towards covering his significant wages. As such, it is said that they are ready to offer him €5 million net per season. While letting a player of Ter Stegen's calibre go without a substantial fee might seem unthinkable under normal circumstances, the Blaugrana could be tempted if it helps them clear his high salary from their books and avoid paying out the final three years of his contract. At 33, Ter Stegen still has plenty of years left at the top level, but with Joan Garcia already brought in for €25 million as a long-term successor, the writing could be on the wall. Advertisement Financial fair play remains a serious challenge for Barcelona, and reducing the wage bill is a clear priority this summer. Offloading one of their highest earners, especially if the goalkeeper himself is open to the move, would help balance the books and open the door for further reinforcements.
