Does Jensen Ackles' Countdown Hero Have BDE — Big Dean (Winchester) Energy? ‘There Are Familiar Aspects,' Says Supernatural Vet

Yahoo10 hours ago

In the opening minutes of Prime Video's Countdown thriller — which was created by Derek Haas (executive producer of the #OneChicago franchise and co-creator of FBI: International) — an officer with the Department of Homeland Security is murdered in broad daylight.
Veteran LAPD detective Mark Meachum, portrayed by Jensen Ackles, is in turn recruited to a secret task force to investigate, alongside undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement.

'Task Force Hurricane' is led by SAC Nathan Blythe (Euphoria's Eric Dane) and also includes DEA badass Amber Oliveras (All Rise's Jessica Camacho), LAPD narcotics officer Lucas Finau (Young Rock's Uli Latukefu), and FBI agents Keyonte Bell (The Boys' Elliot Knight) and Evan Shepherd (The Flash's Violett Beane).
Speaking with the series' cast on Tuesday afternoon, TVLine invited the actors to describe the character played by the co-star sitting next to them. For Dane, that was Ackles.
Meachum, Dane said, is 'a singular-minded, hyper-intense, highly capable taskmaster/bulldog investigator, who will not stop until the whistle blows.'
Some of those adjectives could also describe Ackles' longtime TV alter ego, from The CW's Supernatural.
So we asked Ackles: 'Would you say that Mark Meachum has BDE — Big Dean (Winchester) Energy?'
After letting loose with a hearty laugh, Ackles nodded, 'Uh, yeah. I think you could. I think you could definitely say there's some familiarity there.
'I don't know about similarity,' he continued, 'but there are some familiar aspects to those two characters, in the fact that they are a little cavalier the way that they attack the dark forces.'
Another difference is the nature of those dark forces. On Countdown, for example, they come in the form of human Belarusians with a bone to (explosively) pick.
'The biggest difference is that Mark has actual, corporeal people that he's fighting, whereas Dean Winchester is fighting ghosts, demons, witches, vampires…,' Ackles reminded with a chuckle.
To do what Dean and his brother Sam (played by Jared Padalecki) did, 'You need an entire trunk full of various weapons,' Ackles added. 'But Mark, he likes his pistol.'
Countdown premieres Wednesday, June 25, with its first three episodes, followed by weekly drops through Sept. 3.

US filmmaker Tyler Perry faces explosive lawsuit as actor alleges sexual assault

US film magnate Tyler Perry has been accused of sexual harassment and assault and sued for $260 million by actor Derek Dixon. Dixon is part of Perry's TV show The Oval and filed the suit on 13 June. The actor accused Perry of creating 'a coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic,' according to People. According to the suit, Perry initially promised Dixon a 'career advancement and creative opportunities, such as producing his pilot and casting him in his show, only to subject him to escalating sexual harassment, assault and battery, and professional retaliation when Mr Dixon did not reciprocate Mr Perry's unwanted advances.' After meeting Perry in 2019, Dixon got a small role in one of his projects. In 2020, Perry invited Dixon to his Atlanta home, according to TMZ. This is where Perry allegedly tried to make a sexual advance, which Dixon rejected; however, Perry still remained interested. Dixon also claimed Perry sent him sexually suggestive texts and made more physical advances, too, including groping his butt and grabbing him by the throat. Dixon finally filed a complaint with the Equal Employment and Opportunity Commission in June 2024 and left The Oval due to the alleged sexual harassment. Perry's attorney, Matthew Boyd, told US media: 'This is an individual who got close to Tyler Perry for what now appears to be nothing more than setting up a scam. But Tyler will not be shaken down, and we are confident these fabricated claims of harassment will fail.'

Caitlin Clark Tells the Truth on Personal Decision With Nike

Caitlin Clark Tells the Truth on Personal Decision With Nike originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Caitlin Clark's return from injury marked a special occasion for the Indiana Fever star. Apart from the fact that she was finally able to return following a five-game injury layoff to battle the defending champs, the New York Liberty, Clark also marked the moment with a new pair of Nike kicks. Advertisement It wasn't just any ordinary pair of sneakers, though, as Clark's Nike Kobe 6 Proto Player Editions for the Liberty game on Saturday were extra special for the 23-year-old. Called "The Bellas," Clark decided to dedicate her most recent Nike Kobe PE to her childhood dog. The shoe came in a beige/tan colorway and featured a bright pink tongue that had the famed Kobe logo. The swoosh on the side came in a bold yellow color, while the cream-colored laces matched the shoe's upper. On Tuesday, ahead of Indiana's game against the Connecticut Sun at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Clark shed some light on her latest custom Nike shoe. Advertisement "Honestly, Nike asked me kind of what I want to do with some of the copies that I wear throughout the season, and my dog is really important to me," she said. "It's my childhood dog that I grew up with. "The shoe was basically all golden. And then obviously the tongue of the shoe was pink for a Golden Retriever or any dog, really. But, um, and then on the sock liner, my shoe had a picture of my dog." Clark also made it clear that the dog image in the shoe's inner lining was, in fact, a photo of her own dog. "A lot of my teammates thought it was like some random graphic I found on the internet, but it was actually my dog," she continued. "But yeah, they were cute and you know, it kind of makes it fun when they're a little more personal to you and it makes it fun to get to put them on and go out and play in them." There has been no official confirmation as to whether or not Nike will release "The Bellas" to the public. Be that as it may, there's no denying that what the fans are looking forward to is Clark's first signature shoe, which has not had any substantial updates of late, either.
