Adobe vs. Apple: Which AI-Driven Tech Stock is a Better Buy Now?
Adobe ADBE and Apple AAPL are infusing artificial intelligence (AI) into their core offerings. While Adobe is incorporating AI into its creative products, Apple is adding Apple Intelligence to its core operating systems that power iPhone, iPad, Mac and Wearables.
According to IDC, global spending on AI-supporting technologies will surpass $749 billion by 2028. IDC expects 67% of the projected $227 billion AI spending in 2025 will come from enterprises embedding AI capabilities into their core business operations. This bodes well for both Adobe and Apple stocks.
However, both stocks are playing catch-up in the AI domain against the likes of Microsoft, Amazon and Alphabet. Shares of Adobe and Apple have suffered from challenging macroeconomic conditions and volatility related to higher tariffs. Year to date, Adobe shares have lost 13.9%, outperforming Apple's drop of 21.8%.
Adobe and Apple Stock's Performance
So, Adobe or Apple, which has an edge under the current scenario?
The Case for Adobe Stock
Adobe has expanded its AI portfolio with Adobe GenStudio and Firefly Services, which help brands and their agency partners collaborate on marketing campaigns.
Adobe launched Firefly Video Model-powered Generative Extend in Premiere Pro, which leverages AI to instantly generate and expand the length of video and audio clips. Early in the fiscal second quarter, Adobe launched the new Firefly Image Model 4 for life-like images and the Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra for impeccable detail in complex visuals. Adobe Firefly is improving the potency of Creative Cloud desktop applications. The Firefly App is attracting users for AI-powered content ideation, creation and production, and its support for third-party models, including from Google, OpenAI and Black Forest Labs, is a key catalyst. First-time subscribers of the Firefly app grew 30% sequentially in the fiscal second quarter.
Acrobat AI Assistant is unlocking new levels of productivity by cutting time to insights through conversational interfaces. Adobe Express is using AI to enable consumers to quickly design and publish engaging content through conversational AI in an easy-to-use, all-in-one application. Adobe is integrating these solutions to facilitate a smoother creation-to-consumption process across mobile apps, web browsers and desktop offerings. Adobe's monthly active users across these categories surpassed more than 700 million users at the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2025.
Adobe's AI book of business from AI-first products, including Acrobat AI assistant, Firefly App and Services and GenStudio for Performance Marketing, is tracking ahead of the $250 million ending Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) target by the end of fiscal 2025. The company exited the fiscal second quarter with Digital Media ARR of $18.09 billion, up 12% year over year.
The Case for Apple Stock
Apple is seeing better iPhone 16 sales in regions where Apple Intelligence is available. Apple expanded the availability of Apple Intelligence with iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4 updates in new languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (simplified) — as well as localized English for Singapore and India — and are accessible in nearly all regions around the world. At the end of 2025, Apple Intelligence will be available in eight more languages: Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese, Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (traditional) and Vietnamese.
At this year's annual Worldwide Developers Conference, the company announced new Apple Intelligence features like Live Translation, updates to visual intelligence, as well as enhancements to Image Playground and Genmoji. Shortcuts can access Apple Intelligence directly. Developers also get access to the on-device large language model, which is at the core of Apple Intelligence. The latest features are now available for testing and are expected to be generally available this fall with supported devices.
Apple Intelligence is now getting added to Apple Wallet, and users can make purchases with Apple Pay. Powered by Apple Intelligence, Apple Wallet can now automatically identify, summarize and display order tracking details from emails sent from merchants or delivery carriers. Meanwhile, Apple Pay expands the ability to pay with rewards and installments to in-store purchases for added flexibility and choice.
Adobe Earnings Estimate Revision Positive, AAPL's Goes South
The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Adobe's fiscal 2025 earnings is pegged at $20.41 per share, up 5 cents over the past 30 days, indicating a 10.8% increase over 2024's reported figure.
The consensus mark for Apple's fiscal 2025 earnings has declined by a penny to $7.11 per share over the past 30 days, suggesting 5.33% growth over fiscal 2024.
Valuation: Adobe is Cheaper Than Apple
Both Apple and Adobe are overvalued, as suggested by the Value Score of D.
In terms of forward 12-month Price/Sales, Adobe shares are trading at 6.62X, lower than Apple's 7.04X.
AAPL and ADBE Valuation
Here's Why Adobe is a Better Buy Than Apple
Apple is expected to suffer from the underwhelming performance of Apple Intelligence and a delay in launch in important markets like Mainland China. Higher tariffs negatively impact Apple's China supply chain. Tariffs are currently expected to have a negative impact of roughly $900 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2025.
Meanwhile, Adobe's growing focus on improving monetization from Firefly and GenStudio is noteworthy. GenStudio for Performance Marketing is empowering teams to create their own on-brand content, supporting ad creation and activation for Google, LinkedIn, Meta, Microsoft, Snap and TikTok. In the customer experience domain, Adobe is gaining prominence with Amazon, Microsoft, SAP and ServiceNow choosing it as their preferred partner. These factors are expected to drive top-line growth for Adobe, which is now expected between $23.5 billion and $23.6 billion (up from previous guidance between $23.30 billion and $23.55 billion).
Currently, Adobe has a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy), making the stock a stronger pick compared with Apple, which has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). You can see the complete list of today's Zacks #1 Rank (Strong Buy) stocks here.

Manitoba records first interprovincial migration increase in over 20 years: StatsCan
For the first time since 2004, Manitoba had a net increase in interprovincial migration, according to the latest data from Statistics Canada. Data for the first quarter of 2025 shows 4,352 people moved from another province to Manitoba, while 4,246 left the province. This is the first time since the first quarter of 2004 that Manitoba had a positive migration number, when the difference was plus seven. Chuck Davidson, the president and CEO of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce, said this is a positive revelation, but it's important to read into what is driving the numbers. 'My take on this would be that the last couple of months have been extremely challenging for businesses, and with everything that's been happening south of the border and that uncertainty with the tariffs and trade, what's really been happening is businesses have been in a bit of a holding pattern,' said Davidson. He noted the uncertainty doesn't create the best timing for moving and looking for other jobs in other provinces. Despite that, Davidson said there is an opportunity to build off of this influx, even if it is just 106 people. 'What we've heard repeatedly is that we need to do a better job in Manitoba of talking about the opportunities that exist here. We know that we have world-class companies. We know that there are opportunities for young people to have a career,' said Davidson. As businesses sit in that holding pattern that Davidson mentioned, he did note the trade war with the U.S. could spark positives for Manitoba. The first is that the current situation is showing people both in and outside of Manitoba that there are a variety of options available in the province. 'There's greater stability in Manitoba than there is in a lot of other jurisdictions,' he said. Manitoba has a diverse economy that ranges from agriculture and manufacturing to critical minerals, Davidson said. 'If someone's looking for a more stable job environment, I think Manitoba can obviously be looked at as a positive from that perspective. When you take into account, as well, things like cost of living - those are things that are positive.' The other positive - governments looking at removing interprovincial trade barriers, which is designed to create projects across Canada that have national interest, Davidson said. 'If we're looking at some larger projects, that could be instrumental in attracting workers again.' Davidson said the most important thing is to continue to build off the momentum of the first quarter and try to turn this into a trend instead of a one-off. 'It's continuing to tell those stories. It's continuing to be vocal about what those opportunities are right here in Manitoba.'

Buss family to sell controlling stake of Lakers for $10B valuation: AP source
The Buss family has agreed to sell the controlling stake of the Los Angeles Lakers to TWG Global CEO Mark Walter, doing so with a franchise valuation of $10 billion — the highest for a professional sports franchise, a person with knowledge of the agreement said Wednesday. Article content As part of the deal, Jeanie Buss — whose family has had control of the Lakers since her father bought the team in 1979 — intends to remain as team governor, said the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither side immediately announced details. Article content Article content Article content It is not clear how much more of the Lakers that Walter is acquiring. He was part of a group that bought 27% of the Lakers in 2021. Jeanie Buss will still own at least 15% of the Lakers once this transaction is completed; by NBA rule, a governor must have at least that much of an ownership stake. Article content Walter and TWG Global already had the controlling interest in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Premier League club Chelsea, the Professional Women's Hockey League, and — through TWG Motorsports — owns several auto racing teams including Cadillac Formula 1. Article content Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said news of the sale to Walter marks 'a very exciting day for the Lakers, for the city of Los Angeles. Article content 'He's very competitive and he's going to do everything he can to produce a championship-calibre team every single year and make sure the city feels proud about the Lakers and the legacy that they've already built with the Buss family,' Roberts said. Article content Article content 'Mark Walter is the best choice and will be the best caretaker of the Laker brand,' Lakers legend Magic Johnson, a business partner of Walter's and someone extremely close to Jeanie Buss, posted on social media. 'The proof is in the pudding on what he's been able to accomplish with the L.A. Dodgers. Mark has been nothing short of a winner notching 2 World Series and 11 NL West divisional titles in the last 12 years!' Article content 'Laker fans should be (ecstatic),' Johnson said. 'A few things I can tell you about Mark — he is driven by winning, excellence, and doing everything the right way. AND he will put in the resources needed to win! I can understand why Jeanie sold the team to Mark Walter because they are just alike — they are competitive people, have big hearts, love to give back, and both prefer to be behind the scenes. This makes all the sense in the world.'

ExxonMobil Is 1 of the Largest Energy Companies by Market Cap. But Is It a Buy?
Renewable energy sources, including wind and solar, have experienced significant growth over the past few decades, becoming a major contributor to the world's energy needs. But don't let anyone tell you that oil and gas companies are dying. The reality is far from it. Research by The Motley Fool laid out today's energy landscape, and virtually every single one of the world's largest energy companies by market cap deals in fossil fuels. It may not always be this way, but it's a clear sign that oil and gas have plenty of life left for long-term investors. ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) is the largest U.S. company, a behemoth with a staggering $440 billion market cap. Is the stock a good buy right now? Here is what you need to know. An industry stalwart you can buy and hold through adversity ExxonMobil is an integrated oil and gas company, meaning it diversifies its business across exploration, refining, and distribution. Its diverse operations, along with its massive size and scale, help the company endure hardship when oil and gas commodity prices drop to unprofitable levels. ExxonMobil's dividend streak is the most glaring proof of this. The company has paid and raised its dividend for 42 consecutive years. Very few companies in any industry have accomplished this, let alone the energy sector. Five years ago, the COVID-19 pandemic abruptly turned the world on its head, sending oil prices below zero for the first time. Not even that stopped ExxonMobil from raising its dividend. Today, ExxonMobil could be in its best financial standing in recent memory, ready for what the future holds. The company has a sterling AA- credit rating from S&P Global, well into investment-grade territory. Additionally, ExxonMobil has $17 billion in cash on its balance sheet and debt amounting to just 8.3% of its assets, its lowest level in over 10 years. ExxonMobil may not be an exciting business, but it's the rare energy stock you can buy and hold without losing a wink of sleep. Drilling for growth and cash The energy giant has shifted gears to drive growth over the next five years. First, ExxonMobil acquired Pioneer Natural Resources in a $64.5 billion (enterprise value) all-stock transaction that closed in May 2024. The merger expanded ExxonMobil's footprint in the Permian Basin, an oil-rich region in the Southwestern United States. Management believes that growing production in profitable regions, such as the Permian Basin and Guyana, combined with cost-cutting measures, will help ExxonMobil increase earnings by $20 billion, cash flow by $30 billion, and generate a cumulative $165 billion in cash by 2030. It's an ocean of capital that would enable the company to invest in its core business, build new revenue streams outside of oil and gas, repurchase shares, and, of course, continue to raise its dividend. These goals could change if oil and gas prices fall for an extended period. However, management clearly believes the company will continue to grow profitably. Plus, the Trump administration supports the oil and gas industry, so ExxonMobil shouldn't face much political pushback anytime soon. Is the stock a buy? ExxonMobil stock offers a solid foundation for investment returns, with its dependable 3.9% dividend yield. From there, 5% to 6% annualized growth could deliver 9% to 10% total returns, on par with what the broader stock market averages in a typical year. That seems pretty achievable, given ExxonMobil's 2030 financial targets. Currently, analysts predict that the company will grow its earnings by an average of 9.6% annually over the long term. It's always tricky to gaze too far into the future with energy companies, so it's best to temper expectations. The good news is that if the energy sector does falter, ExxonMobil is arguably the safest oil and gas stock you could ask for. No, a $440 billion company isn't going to make you a millionaire overnight. Still, ExxonMobil is worth buying for anyone looking for stability, solid growth prospects, and a meaningful dividend from the jump. Should you invest $1,000 in ExxonMobil right now? Before you buy stock in ExxonMobil, consider this: The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the 10 best stocks for investors to buy now… and ExxonMobil wasn't one of them.
