Rangers Champions League draw: Live stream, TV details, start time, fixture dates and possible opponents

Daily Record7 hours ago

Rangers' road to Champions League qualification begins this week as Russell Martin's side discover their second-round opponents.
Gers have to navigate three qualifiers to stand any chance of dining at Europe's top table - with title-winning Celtic also having to negotiate a play-off.
The Light Blues have shown in recent years that they are a force to be reckoned with in the Europa League. But if they are to bridge the yawning financial gap with their rivals across the city, then reaching the elite stage for only the second time since 2009/10 is paramount - even with the recent American takeover.
The immediate goal is straightforward. Avoid any hiccups in this round and Rangers are guaranteed European group stage football, at worst in the Europa League, as elimination from the third qualifying phase at least offers that safety net.
A defeat at this stage, however, would see them slide into the third qualifying round of the Europa League - with no fallback to the Conference League. That could mean an early European exit by August, but that's the worst-case scenario.
That thought won't even have crossed Martin's mind as he looks to guide his team to the money-spinning Champions League proper at the first time of asking. Here, Record Sport tells you everything you need to know ahead of this week's draw.
When is the Champions League second qualifying round draw?
The Champions League second qualifying round draw will take place on Wednesday, June 18. Proceedings get underway from 11am.
Can I watch it live?
Fans can stream the draw live via UEFA's official website. It won't be screened by any UK broadcasters.
Where else can I follow the draw?
You can follow the draw as it happens right here on dailyrecord.co.uk! Record Sport will run a live blog with all the build-up and stats, keeping you up-to-date as the balls are pulled from the hat. Afterwards, we'll have all the reaction from Rangers and their confirmed opponents.
Who could Rangers face?
The good news is that Rangers are seeded for the Champions League second qualifying round draw alongside Red Bull Salzburg and Viktoria Plzen. The Ibrox club will be in the League Path for the qualifying rounds thanks to their strong coefficient. However, they face tricky ties against either Greeks Panathinaikos, Swiss Super League outfit Servette or SK Brann of Norway.
When will the fixtures be played?
The first leg will be played on July 22 or 23, and the second leg on July 29 or 30.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy shares why club sacked Ange

The former Celtic boss was sacked just two weeks after leading Spurs to a Europa League victory. Levy, alongside new chief executive Vinai Venkatesham, explained in a club YouTube interview that it was not solely his decision. Postecoglou's dismissal came after two seasons in charge, during which the club lost 22 Premier League matches and finished 17th. Mr Levy said: "I don't regret appointing Ange. "In his first season, we finished fifth, and in the second season, we were over the moon to win a trophy, but we need to compete in all competitions. "We felt that we needed a change." He highlighted that the decision to sack the Australian was a collective one, made with the club's best interests in mind. "Emotionally, it was difficult, but we believe we have made the right decision for the club," he said. Despite last season's European success, Levy insisted the club's ambitions extend beyond this. He said: "We need to win the league. "We want to win the Premier League. "We want to win the Champions League."

Fears Linfield may get just 200 tickets for Champions League clash in Dublin… but chairman is hopeful

Linfield chairman Roy McGivern is confident there will be a healthy number of supporters from both clubs at the Champions League qualifying clashes with Shelbourne, despite fears fewer than 200 Blues fans will get into Tolka Park. The Blues chief is keen to see a large number of Shels supporters at Windsor Park while also hoping that at least 500 Linfield fans will roar on David Healy's side in the away leg. It's a fascinating all-island European derby that has sparked a huge demand for tickets.
