Chris Brown pleads not guilty to ‘bottle attack' in UK nightclub charge
Chris Brown is accused of attempting to maliciously cause grievous bodily harm.
R&B singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty following an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub.
The American musician, 36, is accused of attempting to unlawfully and maliciously cause grievous bodily harm with intent to Abraham Diaw on February 19 2023 at the Tape venue in Hanover Square, Mayfair.
At Southwark Crown Court this morning, his co-defendant, US national Omololu Akinlolu, denied the same charge in a plea and trial preparation hearing.
Brown was freed on conditional bail last month and was able to continue his international tour.
As part of the bail agreement, the Go Crazy singer had to pay a £5 million security fee to the court - a financial guarantee to ensure a defendant returns to court and may be forfeited if they breach bail conditions.
Both defendants are further charged with assaulting Mr Diaw occasioning him actual bodily harm, with Brown also facing one count of having an offensive weapon – a bottle – in a public place.
They were not asked to enter pleas to those charges with a further court hearing set for July 11.
Around 20 people - many of them fans of Brown - sat in the public gallery behind the dock for Friday's hearing.
Brown had arrived at around 9am to a large group of photographers outside the court, and walked in silence to the building's entrance.
A date of October 26 2026 was set for a five to seven-day trial.

Retro US-style roadside diners become tourist attraction in the UK – it's like going back to the 1970s
Plus, Sun Travel visited another American-style diner here in the UK EAT UP Retro US-style roadside diners become tourist attraction in the UK – it's like going back to the 1970s Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE US is so far away, but luckily, there are diners right here in the UK that are strikingly similar to the diners we have all seen in classic American movies. With comfy seating booths, juicy burgers, pancake stacks and sundaes, visitors have confessed the diner makes them feel like they're in the 1970s. The inspiration behind the chain sparked from the owners' childhood trips to roadside restaurants - in particular, Little Chef which ceased operations in 2017. All of the Brightside diners are open from Monday to Sunday, 8am to 9pm to accommodate those on long journeys and travelling. In the mornings, Brightside has American dishes like Early Rider which is a mix of smoked streaky bacon, The Jolly Hog 'Proper Porker' sausage, egg, baked beans and sourdough toast. There's also pancake stacks with either fruit or bacon toppings and veggie options. Certain breakfast dishes are served as part of the all day breakfast, but other tasty meals include pizza, burgers, fish and chips, and curry. Also served are sides of chunky chips, cheesy garlic dough balls and macaroni chips. Other classic American items include the big selection of milkshakes with chocolate flavours, strawberry, banana, salted caramel and Biscoff. There's also an option to pick from the 'Speedy Menu' for those needing to get back on the road in a hurry. There's also a children's menu as well as vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. Across the UK, there are four restaurants, in Honiton, Exeter, Saltash and Ram Jam in Oakham. One visitor to the diner in Saltash wrote: "Thought I'd give this place a try as it's on my way home. Glad I did, the restaurant has cracking retro decor and feel and food was great! Seen somewhere saying it's like Stranger Things, I definitely agree." Another, who had a meal at the Exeter site, added: "Some nice outdoor seating and really cute 1970s style diner done really well." A third visited Honiton and said: "What a great find a fantastic American style roadside diner open all day for breakfast lunch and dinner." These impressive restaurants are ones you will find inside redesigned planes - and there's one in the UK. And Sun Travel reviewed the Mollie's Motel & Diner in Oxfordshire. Holly Willoughby unrecognisable as she makes big change to her appearance
Holly looked really different in her latest post. Holly Willoughby has shown off the new look she's sporting these days which is a far cry from her ITV looks. The ex This Morning presenter shared a post on Instagram wavy hairstyle and a pair of very bold glasses. The 44-year-old posed up a storm in her car as she joked about being her children's 'personal party driver'. Holly captioned the snap: "Any other mums/dads of 16 year old, post GCSE children suddenly find themselves with a new role of personal party driver? Mums 'Mini' Cabs … and yes… I'm now a Glasses wearer… game changer." Holly and her husband Dan Baldwin share three children, Harry, 16, daughter Belle, 12, and nine-year-old son Chester. Their eldest son Harry has just completed his GCSE's and it appears like Holly is being his personal chauffeur after completing his exams, writes The Mirror. In the comments, Holly's fans gushed over her naturally wavy hair as one commented: "Gorgeous. You look so pretty and the glasses really suit you." Another echoed: "Wow!!! Holly you have never looked better." This comes after it was revealed that Holly has been left without an upcoming TV show. The star has been a staple on our screens for years but it seems that she hasn't got any upcoming projects. This is the first time that she hasn't had a programme lined-up in 21 years. This comes as her usual presenting gig on Dancing On Ice has come to an end as the show has been axed. Holly's other job hosting Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls also won't be happening again as that's been axed as well. She has also chosen to step away from You Bet! which means Stephen Mulhern will be hosting the show alone. It has been reported that Holly's husband Dan Baldwin is working on a reboot of Record Breakers which means Holly could be in with a chance of a presenting job. The Sun reported that a source said it would make "perfect sense" for Holly to be up for the role. They said: "Record Breakers is likely to be a prime time hit and it would make perfect sense for Holly to take the reins. She has worked alongside Dan before and the pair know what it takes to make great telly." Holly has also been in amongst a few names that could be hosting the reboot of Cilla Black's Blind Date. Other celebs that could be up include Claudia Winkleman and Davina McCall. Another show Holly is being looked at for is a new Channel 4 programme where new undiscovered singers are found. Holly first returned back to TV last year after taking an 18 month break. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
