Nearly 50 fans were injured after thousands were involved in a pitch invasion after the team gained promotion.
Dozens of football fans were left injured after storming their home pitch in celebration when their side sealed promotion back to the top flight yesterday.
A total of 44 fans needed medical treatment after Hamburg SV supporters celebrated the 6-1 win over Ulm at Hamburg's Volksparkstadion.
Among the 44, twenty-five fans were hospitalised, including one with life-threatening injuries, after thousands rushed on to the field at the full-time whistle.
The victory saw them securing promotion to the Bundesliga, but celebrations were cut short for many who were hurt during the pitch invasion, the BBC reports.

According to a statement from the Hamburg fire department, a total of 44 people received medical treatment, 19 of those were serious injuries, five were minor and one has been categorised as life-threatening.
The statement said: "After the final whistle, football fans stormed the stadium, resulting in injuries to several fans. The Hamburg Fire Department launched a major emergency medical response to support the emergency services on site."
The statement added that around 65 emergency personnel had to be deployed from both the Hamburg rescue service and fire brigade because of the incident.
Victory for Hamburg earned them promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time since suffering relegation in 2017-18. Should they match or better Cologne's result on the final day next Sunday, they will also be crowned champions.

Teen boy 'ran to house for help after being stabbed in street' before he died
A murder probe has been launched. A teenager who was stabbed to death in the street at the weekend ran to a nearby house for health before he passed away, it has been claimed. A murder probe has been launched by police after the youngster - who is thought to have been just 13 - was killed following an incident yesterday evening. And witnesses have said the youngster tried to get locals to help him after he was left seriously injured following an altercation in the Manchester suburb of New Moston. The Mirror reports police and paramedics were called to the area's Nevin Road at around 5pm yesterday, Sunday, June 8, 2025, and cordoned off the residential street. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have now launched a murder investigation. Three people have been arrested in connection with the probe. A resident of Nevin Road told the Manchester Evening News about the shocking moment the injured boy ran into the doorway of his home apparently fleeing his attackers and said repeatedly "I don't want to die". "He just came through the door and said 'I've been stabbed '. We sat him down on a chair and phoned an ambulance. He just kept saying 'I don't want to die,'" he said. The resident said onlookers performed CPR on the boy until police arrived at the scene and sealed off the area. The victim's family is currently being supported by specialist officers. Forensics in white suits also arrived at the scene, with CSI vans parked up on Nevin Road and outside the pub. An air ambulance was scrambled following the incident, and landed on nearby Nuthurst Park. A major murder probe has now been launched, with detectives urging witnesses in the area at around 5pm to come forward as they piece together what happened. Superintendent Marcus Noden said "This is a distressing and heartbreaking incident where a boy has lost his life. We are still trying to establish the circumstances around the incident and have a number of scenes in place. " Officers are looking for information or eye witness accounts from anyone who was in the Nevin Road area of New Moston at around 5pm today quoting log 2250 of 8/6/25. Harvey Elliott issues Liverpool statement amid Florian Wirtz swap transfer talks
Liverpool star Harvey Elliott has opened up on his future plans while on international duty after making just two Premier League starts under Arne Slot as the Reds won the league Harvey Elliott has accepted that leaving Liverpool is a possibility this summer as he looks to do what is best for his career. The midfielder intends to weigh up his options in the coming weeks as he does not want to waste years of his short time in football. Elliott, currently with England for the European Under-21 Championship, failed to make his mark as Liverpool won the league under Arne Slot last term. The Fulham academy product saw the start of his campaign disrupted by injury but ultimately made just two Premier League starts under the Dutchman, after the title was already sewn up. And earning a place in Slot's side next term will not get any easier as the Reds make a splash in the transfer market. The Anfield side are looking to improve their hand with a blockbuster move for Florian Wirtz in the offing. Elliott has accepted that, while looking to depart Anfield is a difficult decision, a transfer could be the best move for his career. The 22-year-old is keen to continue improving and noted he needs to reflect on his position at the club. "It's just a situation that me and the team have to have a conversation about because I'm coming into an age now where I'm 22, I'm going to be 23 next season," he said. "I don't really want to be wasting years of my career because it's a short career. You don't know what's going to happen. "I need to reflect. I need to see if I'm content in doing what I'm doing and how can I improve as a player because that's the most important thing. "I just want to improve and be the best possible version of myself. If that's to go somewhere else, then it's a decision that I'm going to have to make and I just need to see what happens. "Nothing makes me want to leave. I love the club, I love the fans, the team. I support them as well. But most importantly, it's just about what's best for my career." Elliott has already seen links to the likes of Newcastle and was even touted as a potential makeweight in a deal to bring Wirtz to Anfield. Bayer Leverkusen are said to hold an interest in him heading in the opposite direction if Wirtz makes the move. Liverpool are expected to make a final offer to the Bundesliga side in order to find a compromise on a transfer fee. The Reds third official bid of £100million plus £13m in add-ons was knocked back as Leverkusen hold out for a total package nearer their £126.4m asking price. Emmerdale reveals tragic Cain update in ITVX streaming release
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) continued to face Tracy Shankley's (Amy Walsh) angry wrath as a new week began in Emmerdale. Last week, Cain discovered that his son Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) had been murdered and understandably, he struggled to process the news. Prior to his death, Nate had a fight with Cain over the rumour he was sleeping with Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb). He was then killed by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), but his family believed that he had gone to Shetland. Cain eventually gave up on Nate, accepting that he no longer wanted anything to do with his family in the village and little girl Frankie. Of course, learning the truth about his son has made Cain feel utterly terrible – and matters have been made even worse due to Tracy accusing him of killing Nate. John was questioned by the detective in tonight's episode, but it wasn't because he had been accused of murder. He managed to back up Cain's story from Nate's final day in the village, revealing he went to the hospital immediately after the barn fire to see Moira, who had been caught up in the ordeal. More Trending It added fuel to the theory that Cain was innocent but it wasn't enough to sway Tracy. Throughout the entire instalment, she remained convinced that Cain killed his own son. That afternoon, John found Cain at the garage attempting to fix a bike. The beloved character broke down and admitted that it feels like he can't grieve for Nate because of Tracy and the constant police interference. John asserted that the police would be off Cain's back soon, and then spied Frankie's playhouse in the garden of Tracy's. An idea forming, John will soon plant Nate's phone in Frankie's playhouse. The police will search the premises and find the phone, therefore taking the heat off Cain and putting it onto Tracy instead.
