Girls to operate remote robot at Women's Euro final
The youngsters from Bridgnorth Spartans in Shropshire will use a laptop to control the roaming device - which is a computer screen on two metal legs - inside St Jakob-Park in Basel for England's game against Spain.
It means they will be able to virtually explore the stadium, interact with players and presenters, and experience the game from the inside.
"Chloe, Phoebe and Poppy - three of our youth players - have been trained to drive the robot and will be representing the club on one of the biggest stages in women's football," said Anne Johnson, the Spartans' women's football lead.
"These kinds of experiences build aspirations, create lasting memories, and show our girls what's possible."
The opportunity to use the robot, which is supported by UEFA and provided by French technology company Awabot, came through the Make-a-Wish children's charity, which grants wishes to those who are seriously ill. The charity was running a pilot scheme, with hopes to roll it out in their own work.
The girls took part in the project earlier in the tournament, against the Netherlands, Sweden and Italy.
They welcomed players and officials to the grounds, toured dressing rooms, and watched the warm-up, and even spoke to former Lioness Jill Scott, as well as head coach Serena Wiegman.
"It's been an amazing journey so far, and now we've been invited back for the final," said Ms Johnson.

Sean Payton: Dre Greenlaw plays like Mike Tyson
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw made the most of the first day in pads at Broncos training camp. If he is, facing an already tough Broncos defense will be even less enjoyable for opposing offenses in 2025.

Commanders put OL Nate Herbig on reserve/retired list
Veteran offensive lineman Nate Herbig is walking away from football. Herbig signed with the Commanders this offseason, but the team announced on Tuesday morning that he has been placed on the team's reserve/retired list. He will no longer count against the team's 90-man roster limit. Herbig spent the last two seasons with the Steelers, but did not play at all in 2024 after a rotator cuff injury. Herbig appeared in 17 games for the Steelers in 2023 and he started 11 games at guard for the Jets in 2022. The Eagles signed Herbig as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and he started 17 of the 33 games he played while with Philadelphia. Nick Allegretti and Chris Paul remain on hand as depth options at guard in Washington.

'I never once thought I needed to get out'
Jack Butland insists he never considered seeking an escape route this summer and Rangers remains the club "where I want to be". The former England goalkeeper lost his Ibrox starting spot to Liam Kelly during the final months of last term under interim boss Barry Ferguson. But Butland, 32, was give the gloves by new head coach Russell Martin for the season-opening first-leg win over Panathinaikos in Champions League qualifying last week and is determined to build on that impressive performance. "Has it been smooth sailing, my time at the club? Not for me personally, for all of us, no, it's not been quite as successful as we'd like it to have been," Butland told Sky Sports. "I never lost that, I didn't walk away from the season thinking, although some people like to try and make those stories up, that that's the end of it. "I was very determined that I will determine how my career goes here. "Obviously things can be taken out of your hands at times, but I was very adamant in the summer that regardless of what happens, what managerial changes, ownership changes, that I was going to come in and be the best version of myself and at least give myself the opportunity to have control of what happens next. "I hope I've managed to do that. I certainly feel fit and sharp and positive and looking forward to the season ahead at a club where I want to be. "I never once looked away from it and thought I need a change or I need to get out. "I need to keep my head up, stick my chest out and get on with it. That's the plan."
