"Panicking...": Jasprit Bumrah's Viral 'Calm Down' Gesture At Mahela Jayawardene In IPL 2025 Eliminator Decoded
Jasprit Bumrah turned out to be Mumbai Indians' saviour in the IPL 2025 Eliminator against Gujarat Titans on Friday. Bumrah took just one wicket but it was a crucial one of Washington Sundar (48, 24b), who stitched an important stand with Sai Sudharshan (80, 49b). Post that dismissal, GT fell short of the 229-run target by 20 runs. During that match, an interaction between MI coach Mahela Jayawardene and Bumrah went viral. However, Bumrah gestured towards him to calm down and take it easy before doing the same gesture to captain Hardik Pandya.
Jatin Sapru who was on the Hindi broadcast at that time, said, "Bumrah is basically saying 'I know my job well. I am here. You stay calm and just give me a chance."
Former RCB and India pacer Varun Aaron said Jaywardene was 'panicking' because the MI bowlers were getting hit by GT batters.
"If you want wickets, he comes and gets you wickets. If you want to stop runs, he stops runs for you. Man, what a bowler," Aaron said on ESPNcricinfo's Time Out.

"And the belief he has in his ability. You have an international coach [Mahela Jayawardene] who is obviously panicking because his bowlers have suddenly started to go to the cleaners, and he just turns around and is like 'just calm down, I'll do the job for you'. Comes in, runs in, gets hit for a six and then gets that ball."
Tom Moody, who is an IPL-winning coach, called Bumrah pure class.
"The challenge every opposition has to Mumbai Indians, and Jasprit Bumrah more importantly, is that the 24 balls he bowls are such a threat," Moody said. "It's not impossible but it's so difficult to get big overs against him. So you're really playing 20 overs versus 16 to a certain extent. And he is so far ahead of the rest, it's ridiculous.
"The thing with Bumrah is that he's got that genuine wicket-taking ability just through his pure class. That yorker he bowled to Washington Sundar, you just don't bowl a better ball than that. That is the absolute perfect leg-stump yorker that's gone between his legs. At pace. To a batter that's in. Set.
"You see that quite often with a new batter because they still haven't picked up the pace of the game. This is a batter that's in and he's going at 200 strike rate. It just totally blew him away."

"Mad proud of the boys": Ranveer Singh sends uplifting message for Mumbai Indians players post heartbreaking loss to Punjab Kings
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 2 (ANI): Actor Ranveer Singh, who is an avid cricket follower, penned an uplifting message for the Mumbai Indians team after they lost to Punjab Kings in IPL's Qualifier 2. Taking to Instagram Story, the 'Band Baaja Baaraat' star wrote, 'Not ours this time but still mad proud of the boys. Showed our might and mettle in a hard-fought tournament. Still the most feared team in the league. Unbreakable spirit. Indefatigable Indians.' Five-time champions MI ended their IPL campaign with a crushing loss to PBKS by five wickets at Ahmedabad on Sunday night, booking a title clash between PBKS and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). PBKS won the toss and opted to bowl first. After losing Rohit Sharma early, a 51-run stand between Jonny Bairstow (38 in 24 balls, with three fours and two sixes) and Tilak Varma (44 in 29 balls, with two fours and two sixes) pushed MI forward. A 72-run partnership for the third wicket between Tilak and Suryakumar Yadav (44 in 26 balls, with four boundaries and three sixes) helped MI keep a healthy run rate. All MI needed was a final push from Naman Dhir (37 in 18 balls, with seven fours) to take MI to 203/6 in 20 Omarzai (2/43) was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS. Kyle Jamieson, Marcus Stoinis, Yuzi Chahal and Vijaykumar Vyshak took a wicket each. In the run chase, PBKS had some stumbles initially despite a blitz from Josh Inglis (38 in 21 balls, with five fours and a six), who took down Jasprit Bumrah for 20 runs in an over. An 84-run stand between Nehal Wadhera (48 in 29 balls, with four boundaries and two sixes) and skipper Shreyas Iyer helped PBKS maintain the required tempo for the chase. After quick dismissals of Wadhera and Shashank reduced PBKS to 169/5 in 16.4 overs, a ruthless Shreyas (87* in 41 balls, with five fours and eight sixes) took down pace to guide his team to five-wicket win with an over left. Ashwani Kumar (2/55) was the top bowler for MI. Trent Boult (1/38) and Hardik Pandya (1/19) took one wicket each. Bumrah was wicketless for 40 runs in four overs. Iyer was given the 'Player of the Match' honour for his clutch knock. The final between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru is set for Tuesday at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. (ANI)

Pro-Virat Kohli crowd in IPL final: PBKS coach ready for tough battle in Ahmedabad
Punjab Kings' fast-bowling coach James Hopes is bracing for a high-pressure final in Ahmedabad, where his team will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in front of what he anticipates will be a highly partisan atmosphere led by Virat Kohli's massive fan after Punjab's five-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, which sealed their place in the IPL 2025 final, Hopes said the focus now shifts to recovery and mental readiness for the title clash on just a short turn around for us, we've finished at 2 am, which is pretty late, so tomorrow will be just about the guys recovering and getting mentally prepared for what I imagine is going to be a pretty big crowd and a pretty big pro Kohli crowd as well," Hopes told reporters. Hopes noted that Punjab Kings had been building towards this moment over the past few months, aiming not just to compete but to claim their maiden IPL vs MI Qualifier 2: Highlights | Scorecard"We'd been setting ourselves up for a couple of months the way that we were playing not to come third. We wanted to be in there with the chance to come first and we've given ourselves that chance now," he falling short in Qualifier 1, Shreyas Iyer and his side bounced back emphatically, dismantling the five-time champions Mumbai Indians on Sunday. Iyer led from the front with a stunning unbeaten 87 off 41 balls, laced with eight sixes and five fours - a knock that tilted the contest decisively in Punjab's lauded Iyer's leadership, describing the batter as a "sensational captain" who remains calm under pressure and makes sharp tactical decisions."He's calm, doesn't get flustered very easily and he knows his matchups. He knows what he has to do at certain times and he's prepared to take that," Hopes on Iyer's evolution as a batter, the former Australian all-rounder added: "When he was a younger player in Delhi (Capitals), he was a little bit more explosive and gung-ho, but he scores at a high strike right now strictly because he knows when a bowler comes on, that's his matchup and he's going to take it (on)."Hopes also credited Iyer's captaincy for restricting Mumbai to a manageable total despite their threatening start."With his captaincy, tonight, we kept them to 200 (203/6), but I reckon they could have got 220 or 230 and just because the way he pulls the strings out there and manoeuvred (the) bowlers around," he final will crown a new champion regardless of the result, as neither Punjab Kings nor Royal Challengers Bengaluru has lifted the IPL trophy before. But in a stadium packed with fans hoping to see Kohli break his title drought, PBKS know they will need to overcome more than just the eleven players on the In IN THIS STORY#IPL 2025
