Revered '90s Rockers Are Winning Raves for Surprising String of Performances
It's safe to say that acclaimed rock band Weezer has some of the most opinionated fans in the music world. The group's devoted followers even inspired a now-classic Saturday Night Live skit featuring Matt Damon and Leslie Jones arguing about their career trajectory ("Real Weezer fans know they haven't had a good album since Pinkerton!"). So it goes without saying that Weezer's recent string of shows would trigger some very passionate reactions, especially considering the fact that they've been catering to their longtime listeners by busting out their biggest tunes.
An Instagram post this week from Indie Mixtape highlighted several clips from Weezer's latest live shows, featuring performances of such beloved songs as "Island in the Sun" and "Beverly Hills" from last weekend's Glastonbury Festival (plus songs from Pinkpop 2025 in the Netherlands last week and Coachella in April). As the caption noted, "the band has been filling fans with musical nostalgia at many of their recent shows, displaying how many great songs they really have."
Fans in the comments agreed that the band has been in fighting form as of late, with one writing, "Their set here in Stockholm last week was great. Hit after hit, stage banter in Swedish, tight and perfect length."
"I've seen weezer almost 4 times now and they are very good, amazing songs back to back each time!" agreed a second person.
Other Weezer fans took the opportunity to call out their personal faves.
"I'm glad they're including The Good Life more into their setlists. Just as much as a banger as Buddy Holly," someone argued, with another noting, "I totally forgot about pork and beans!"
In a 2024 interview with Men's Health, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo reflected on the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut album (often referred to as 'the Blue Album"), admitting he finds it "really weird" that the record has remained so relevant to listeners.
'When we were coming up in L.A., we couldn't get a buzz going because the clubs were 21 and up," he recalled.
"The music we were making didn't resonate with adults," Cuomo continued, adding, "It wasn't until our songs were on the radio and the record came out that kids started hearing it — like, literally kids. 10 year olds. And for some reason, that record (and maybe Weezer in general) have just always resonated with younger people. It's never gotten much respect from the old guard, or at least from people of our generation.'Revered '90s Rockers Are Winning Raves for Surprising String of Performances first appeared on Parade on Jul 1, 2025

Oasis perform on stage during opening night of their 'Oasis Live '25' reunion tour. Friday, July 4, ... More 2025 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales 'Said it's good to be back, good to be back,' sang vocalist Liam Gallagher, improvising a bit as Oasis took to the stage Friday night in Cardiff, Wales with 'Hello,' the opening track from the band's 1995 sophomore studio effort (What's the Story) Morning Glory. It was the first Oasis performance in 16 years and the band - brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, who took to the stage hand in hand, guitarists Gem Archer and Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, bassist Andy Bell and drummer Joey Waronker - performed for about two hours in front of 62,000 as the 'Oasis Live '25' reunion tour kicked off at a sold out Principality Stadium. 'It was momentous for me and I think for a lot of people,' said Daniel Boczarski, a fan who travelled from Chicago, Illinois to Wales for the event. 'Especially culturally for the U.K. fans: to be there and see that they actually did pull this off after so many years was special,' he said. 'I saw grown men crying tears of joy and teenagers taking selfies,' said Boczarski, illustrating the group's cross-generational appeal. 'It was just a good, fun time. And that's what rock and roll should be about.' Noel Gallagher (left) and Liam Gallagher (right) take to the stage on opening night of the 'Oasis ... More Live '25' reunion tour. Friday, July 4, 2025 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales Fans bounced along as Oasis dusted off 'Acquiesce' second in the set, the B-side to the group's first U.K. #1 'Some Might Say,' which the band offered up two songs later. 'Acquiesce' also appeared on the 1998 Oasis compilation The Masterplan and was recently released as an acoustic remix, the first single from the group's forthcoming 30th anniversary reissue of (What's the Story) Morning Glory, due October 3, 2025 on CD or vinyl and for online streaming via Big Brother Recordings. More 2025 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales 'For my friends and I, it's the trip of a lifetime. My friend Matt loves Oasis, so he couldn't miss it,' said Michael Hurcomb a photographer by trade who will be attending the upcoming Oasis performance as a fan in London on July 25, the first of a five night run at Wembley Stadium, making the trip from Toronto in the Canadian province of Ontario. 'My wife and I have never been to England and we were planning a group trip. So, when Oasis announced the tour we knew we had to go,' he said. 'We had to be up at 3AM to try to get tickets for Ireland. I had four tickets in my cart but, at the last minute, Ticketmaster didn't like that I had multiple tabs open and booted me out,' said Hurcomb, echoing the frustrations of fans globally with the ticketing giant during the initial on sale last October. 'At 4AM, the England shows went on sale and I got a really low queue number for Wembley. So, I waited it out and got outstanding seats.' Opening the encore with 'The Masterplan,' Oasis called it a night on stage in Cardiff in epic fashion. 'Right you beautiful people,' said Liam, introducing Oasis' closing rendition of 'Champagne Supernova' following 'Wonderwall.' 'This is it!'

Charlize Theron Breaks Her Silence On Joining Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Charlize Theron is no stranger to epic roles or demanding productions, having starred in some of the best action movies, including Mad Max: Fury Road, Atomic Blonde and The Old Guard and its sequel (which is available with a Netflix subscription). However, her latest casting takes her into truly legendary territory. The Oscar winner has finally opened up about her upcoming role in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. Though she hasn't stepped on set yet, Theron is already sizing up the scale of the production and her place in it. While promoting The Old Guard 2, Charlize Theron spoke with The Hollywood Reporter, during which she discussed joining Nolan's upcoming page-to-screen adaptation. Theron is set to take on the role of Circe, the iconic sorceress who famously crosses paths with Odysseus (played by Matt Damon), describing the script as 'epic' and sharing thoughts on Nolan's filmmaking prowess: Well, I haven't been there yet. Like you guys, I'm just hearing and seeing everything from afar. I'm leaving in three weeks or something like that, and I feel like I'm going to be the new kid on the block. I know it's epic from reading the script, but for myself, I'm only there for two weeks, I think. Chris is the kind of filmmaker who knows exactly what's in his head, and he knows the movie that he's making, so I am going to go with that. But doing Fury Road and shooting it for a hundred days, that was as epic as I've ever gone. If anyone can make a deep impact in two weeks, it's Theron. This fan is confident that her portrayal of Circe, a goddess known for her intoxicating power and ability to transform men into animals, will leave a mark, especially under Christopher Nolan's direction. While we don't know exactly how The Odyssey will interpret the ancient tale, especially after the leaked first trailer However, Theron's casting as the iconic Greek witch may indicate that we'll receive a bold, commanding version of the character, and she'd be more than equipped to deliver that. The South African and American star admitted she hasn't yet joined the production, which has reportedly been filming for several months. However, she's not worried about walking into an already-running machine. She trusts Nolan's vision and knows a thing or two about large-scale filmmaking. For fans of both Christopher Nolan and Charlize Theron, this pairing may feel overdue. The Memento filmmaker's movies often explore deep themes, time, fate, identity and Theron brings the kind of presence that can hold the screen in even the most fantastical scenarios. Add to that her recent performance in The Old Guard 2 and the buzz around her action-heavy upcoming Netflix film, Apex, and it's clear she's not slowing down anytime soon. While she remains tight-lipped about specific details, the Furiosa performer's confirmation that she's playing the Odysseus' enchantress and that she's entering Christopher Nolan's orbit soon has already got me buzzing with excitement. Circe is one of The Odyssey's most memorable figures: mysterious, dangerous and captivating. In Theron's hands, that character could become one of the film's highlights. Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is set to hit theaters and the 2026 movie schedule on July 17, With Charlize Theron officially on board, the journey just got even more exciting.
