Russian attack kills displaced Ukrainian family, officials say
Moscow has stepped up its drone and missile attacks on Ukraine more than three years into Russia's invasion, even as the warring parties meet for face-to-face ceasefire talks.
'The bodies of three people were found under the rubble of the house. A family was killed: a 57-year-old woman, her 58-year-old husband and their 36-year-old son,' regional officials announced.
They added the family killed in the village of Pidlyman had fled the settlement of Boguslavka which was captured by Russian forces when they invaded in early 2022, but was later retaken by Ukrainian forces.
A strike later on Kharkiv city wounded 33 people, including a 10-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy and girl, the governor said.
A separate Russian drone and missile barrage wounded seven people including a child in the central Ukrainian region of Cherkasy, emergency services said.
And in the southern port city of Odesa, a Russian drone attack wounded four people and badly damaged a market. Ukraine's prime minister said some of the buildings targeted were UNESCO protected.
'Russia continues its terror and obstructs diplomacy, which is why it deserves full-scale sanctions responses, as well as our strikes on their logistics, their military bases, and their military production facilities,' President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on social media in response.
He said Russia had launched 103 drones — mainly the Iranian designed Shahed type of unmanned aerial vehicle — and four missiles.
In Russia, a Ukrainian drone strike left two women dead and several others wounded in Sochi in Russia's south, regional authorities said.
The Russian defence ministry said its air defence systems had downed 39 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles mainly over southern regions of the country.

'Naturally, we are interested in these elections being inclusive and in all ethnic and religious groups having the opportunity to take part in forming new legislative bodies," Lavrov said during a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Assad al-Shaibani in Moscow, reported Russia's state-run TASS. He added that the two discussed the Syrian interim government's relations with Syrian Kurds. "We are interested in the Kurds remaining integral members of Syrian society within the framework of the single state," the Russian foreign minister noted. Russia, main backer of the ousted regime of Bashar al-Assad, used to play the role of a mediator between Assad and the Kurdish administration in northeast Syria (Rojava). Syria's interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) chief Mazloum Abdi signed an agreement on March 10 to integrate all civil and military institutions in Rojava - including the SDF - under the authority of the Syrian state. The US and France unsuccessfully tried to convene both sides in Paris earlier this month. In an exclusive interview with Rudaw, Qutaiba Idlbi, director of American affairs at Syria's foreign ministry, stated on Wednesday that Damascus and the SDF will meet in Paris 'soon.'

Balochistan Is A 'Natural Ally Of The West'; The Baloch, Like The Kurds, Represent The Antithesis Of Jihadism
The Baloch have always coexisted peacefully with religious minorities and, like the Kurds, represent the antithesis of jihadism. When the British Empire pursued its divide-and-rule policy by fostering communal rifts, it triggered religious massacres involving Sikhs, Hindus, and Muslims. Balochistan, however, remained an exception, no one was killed on religious grounds by the Baloch. Although the Baloch are predominantly Muslim, they have consistently lived in harmony with both Baloch and non-Baloch communities of diverse faiths. Karachi, now Pakistan's largest city, was once part of Balochistan and had a Baloch majority. Remarkably, the historical Bene Israel Jewish cemetery in Karachi is still protected today by a Baloch family.[1] The Baloch people have also safeguarded ancient Hindu temples, such as the revered Hinglaj Mata shrine. In 1992, following the demolition of the Babri Masjid in India, over 30 Hindu temples were attacked in Pakistan's Sindh and Punjab provinces. Yet not a single Hindu temple was harmed in Balochistan, nor was any Hindu targeted by the Baloch.[2] The West needs tolerant and secular nations as allies; the Baloch could be one of those allied nations. Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) leader Hyrbyair Marri Some Points On Economy And Oppression The Baloch people have long endured systematic oppression at the hands of the Iranian state, often with tacit international support. Since the 1990s, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), backed by Western countries, has funneled millions of dollars into Iran under the guise of combating drug trafficking. In practice, these funds have been used to arrest and execute Baloch citizens on fabricated drug charges. While a small number of Baloch individuals may engage in minor drug trading, often as a means of survival in a region with few economic opportunities, the major drug operations are known to involve close cooperation with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).[3] It is a well-documented and widely accepted fact that the IRGC is deeply involved in the narcotics trade. This raises urgent questions: Where did most of the UN's anti-drug funding actually go, and how has it been used by the Iranian authorities? Has it been used in Baloch ethnic cleansing? Despite living in a region rich in natural resources, including gold, copper, antimony, titanium, iron ore, coal, and many rare earth elements, the Baloch population in both Iran and Pakistan. Deportation Of Baloch And Denial Of Their Birth Certificates The Iranian government is deliberately denying birth certificates to Baloch children – a systematic and calculated policy aimed at erasing their legal identity, displacing them from their ancestral homeland, and depriving them of their rightful citizenship in Balochistan. Reports indicate that recently hundreds of Baloch have been forcibly deported by Iranian occupying forces to territories under Pakistani occupation and Afghanistan. This state-engineered act of dispossession is not only a blatant violation of human rights but also an unacceptable attempt to disenfranchise an entire people.
