Humid and stormy weather for Father's Day Weekend, Turns hotter next week
SPC has placed western Alabama in a Level 1/5 Marginal Risk for severe storms. The threat remains low, but something to watch.
Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy with a few lingering showers and patchy fog. Lows will range from the upper 60s to lower 70s.
Father's Day Weekend: The weather pattern is expected to stay the same. Anticipate more heat, high humidity, and scattered storms on Saturday and Sunday.
A few storms might be strong, accompanied by gusty winds and heavy rain, potentially causing minor flooding in areas with poor drainage. There is a Level 1/4 Marginal risk for flash flooding each day. High temperatures will be in the mid-80s, and it will feel like the middle 90s.
Next Week's Outlook: Expect hot and humid conditions with more scattered storms on Monday and Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s, and it will feel like 95-100. The weather pattern will shift from Wednesday to Friday. The ridge off the Florida coast will extend westward, decreasing the chance of storms but resulting in hotter conditions. From Wednesday to Friday, expect a partly cloudy sky with occasional showers and storms. High temperatures will reach the lower 90s and feel like 100-105.

Rain dissapears and heat lingers, but big heat relief showing up in a week
Another day of feast or famine, with some lucky locations receiving rainfall. With the good comes some bad, though, with stronger storms producing strong winds and frequent lightning. The rainfall was welcome, though, especially as we enter another long dry stretch. Today's round of showers and thunderstorms will continue into this evening before fading by midnight. A pocket of dry, stable air over Southwest Missouri will tend to keep rain out of much of Southwest Missouri. In the wake of tonight's cool front, we'll find an easing of the heat with afternoon highs in the upper 80s and low 90s. The overnights are where you may notice a real increase in comfort with low humidity air, opening the door to lows in the low to mid 60s. Another dry stretch gets started as well, with no rain expected through Friday. The weekend cool front will deliver real heat relief with the coolest weather since at least the beginning of the month. We can look forward to a long stretch of highs below 90° and maybe even a day in there with highs below 80°. Cool overnight temperatures are also on the table, with some mornings dipping below 60°. Get into the upcoming midweek rain, Twin Tiers. But, sunshine starts the weekend.
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The clouds will be the main feature through most of the night. However, there is rain coming our way that will linger into Thursday. We will wake up to clouds and steady rainfall Wednesday morning. A stationary boundary is on the way that will hold the clouds in place for almost a day before departing. This rain is not great timing for our weekend Great New York State Fair activities. If you are on the midway, make sure to carry your rain gear. There may be a few breaks in the clouds, but right now they look to be few and far between. The stationary boundary goes east carrying clouds with it, followed by a round of cooler high pressure that drop the temperatures. Some NY beaches to shut down as Hurricane Erin approaches East Coast
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (PIX11) – All beaches within the Town of Hempstead will shut down this week as Hurricane Erin approaches the East Coast, according to officials. Residents will have their last chance to go swimming at any Town of Hempstead beach on Tuesday. Starting Wednesday, swimming is prohibited, but beaches will still be open. More Local News Town officials said all beaches will be closed on Thursday, with them reopening on Friday and Saturday. These are the beaches that will be affected by the closures: Atlantic Beach Estates East Atlantic Beach Park Harbor Isle Beach Hewlett Point Park Lido Beach Town Park Lido West Town Park Malibu Shore Club Town Park at Point Lookout Town Park at Sands Hurricane Erin was downgraded to a Category 3 storm on Monday as it continued to churn in the Atlantic Ocean, but the National Hurricane Center warned it could increase in strength as it continues north. The storm slammed the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico with high winds and several inches of heavy rain. While the system isn't projected to make landfall, it will be dangerous rip currents to New York and New Jersey, according to forecasters.
