Aakhri Vasant: Poignant portrait of evening of life
2
Lucknow: Emotional crisis of an abandoned elderly couple was portrayed delicately in Darpan group's play 'Aakhri Vasant' staged at the Central Drug Research Institute. The performance resonated deeply with the audience, as the play created pathos and showed how new bonds formed in the most unlikely situations.
The elderly couple's only son is settled in Canada after marrying a woman of that nation. While the mother maintains occasional phone contact with her son and daughter-in-law, the father is estranged with the son who refuses to speak with him. The atmosphere in the household is of silence and longing until an unexpected twist disrupts the monotony.
A fugitive dacoit breaks into their home and secures shelter at gunpoint.
The situation takes another dramatic turn when the son calls on his birthday, sharing that his wife is pregnant and that they would soon be visiting home. On arrival, the son and his wife are surprised to find the dacoit working as a servant in the home. When police arrive looking for the criminal, the couple hide him, claiming their servant is out in the market.
The climax comprises a touching moment in which the son confesses that he is not their real child, but a hired actor from an organisation that provides companionship to elderly parents abandoned by their children. His contract period is over and he must leave. This revelation stirs the dacoit, leading him to call the police and surrender. Anil Rastogi who played a central role in the play said, "This play shows that in today's world, you can even hire children who act like your own.
A play is only meaningful when the audience truly connects with it." Chitra Mohan, Vansh Srivastava, Alka Vivek, Vikas Srivastava and Sanjay Deglurkar also acted.

Quentin Tarantino calls THIS his favorite film: 'Nobody else could've made it...'
Few filmmakers induce as much discussion among moviegoers as Quentin Tarantino . He is frequently regarded as unbreakable when it comes to making films that have an impact long after the credits have rolled because of his career, which is filled with cult classics, enduring characters, and dialogue that is unmatched in the history of cinema. The twist is that Tarantino himself has commented on the argument that every fan has had at some point: "Which Tarantino movie is THE Tarantino movie?" The two-time Oscar winner finally revealed which of his films, in his opinion, is his best work during an open discussion on The Church of Tarantino podcast. 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favorite, and Inglourious Basterds is my best,' Tarantino remarked. 'But I think Kill Bill is the ultimate Quentin movie; like, nobody else could've made it. Every aspect about it is so particularly ripped, like with tentacles and bloody tissue, from my imagination and my id and my loves and my passion and my obsession. So I think Kill Bill is the movie I was born to make, I think Inglourious Basterds is my masterpiece, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favorite.' He continued in typical Tarantino fashion. The director of Pulp Fiction also talked about his writing, selecting some of his best scripts. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo 'I think Inglourious Basterds is my best script, and I think The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are right behind,' he said. 'But, there's an aspect of Hateful Eight that I actually think is probably my best directing of my material, i.e., the material is written and it's solid. So it's not like I have to create it, like Kill Bill; it's solid, it's right there, and I actually think it's my best servicing [of] my material as a director.' What is Tarantino doing? Regarding any upcoming projects from the renowned filmmaker, there has been some speculation about a new Once Upon a Time in Hollywood movie, but Tarantino stated that even though he wrote the screenplay, he will not be directing the sequel. Why?He clarified, 'I love this script, but I'm still walking down the same ground I've already walked. It just kind of unenthused me. This last movie, I've got to not know what I'm doing again. I've got to be in uncharted territory.' "Get the latest updates on Times of India, including reviews of the movie Coolie and War 2 ."

Being a mother does not mean it's a career break: Hariprriya Simha
When it came to introducing their baby to the world, Hariprriya and Vasishta Simha had a carefully thought-out plan. 'We wanted to wait because, first, both Vasishta and I believe in drishti (evil eye), and second, we felt he was too young to be exposed to the world. Now that he has completed six months, we feel it's the right time to introduce our little one to everyone,' shares Hariprriya. They named him Viprah N Simha, which translates to 'the enlightened one'. 'It also has VIP in it, because he truly is the most important person in our lives,' she smiles. In a chat with us, she talks about the joys of motherhood, the values she hopes to instil in her child, and how becoming a mother has strengthened her personally and professionally. Excerpts: Both Vasishta and I come from an old-school mindset. Viprah will grow up with the very values that our parents instilled in us Hariprriya Simha 'VIPRAH WILL GROW UP WITH THE VALUES THAT OUR PARENTS HAVE INSTILLED IN US' Hariprriya tells us, 'Both Vasishta and I come from an old-school mindset. We are extremely attached to our families and complete home birds. My mother instilled in me early on that habbas (festivals) must always be celebrated with family. Even during shoots, I would fly home just to join them and head back soon after. It's the same with Vasishta. Now Viprah will grow up with these very values. Especially after becoming a mother, I've realised that traditions and values mean more to me than ever before. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo ' 'TODAY, BEING A MOTHER IS NO LONGER VIEWED AS A CAREER BREAKER' Hariprriya is equally firm that motherhood does not diminish her professional identity. 'Earlier, there was a perception that motherhood would end an actress's career. But today, things are changing for the better. Audiences, filmmakers, and the industry as a whole are more accepting. Motherhood has only made me stronger, more focused, and even more passionate about my craft,' she says. 'The actor in me can never die. I shot for a brand 15 days into my delivery. I've also been listening to scripts, and most have either been of me playing an expectant mom or a mother. I want roles that go beyond this, so when I find one, I'll take it up. Viprah is already used to travelling with us, so I'll take him on set when I go back on sets,' she smiles. Earlier there was a perception that motherhood would en an actor's career. But today, audiences, filmmakers and the industry are more accepting Hariprriya Simha "Get the latest updates on Times of India, including reviews of the movie Coolie and War 2 ."
