Juventus 2-5 Man City: The Old Lady powerless to withstand a City storm as Pep Guardiola's side thunder into Club World Cup last-16 as group winners
Manchester City laid down a marker at the Club World Cup by hammering Italian giants Juventus 5-2 in Orlando.
Pep Guardiola 's side required victory in their final group game to advance to the last-16 as group winners and avoid a likely match-up with Real Madrid in the next round.
The City boss warned fans of the blistering temperatures expected at the Camping World Stadium pre-match and the extreme Florida conditions even saw a storm pass overhead towards the end of the first half.
But, in reality, it was the Premier League side that created conditions Juve were unable to withstand. Jeremy Doku set the tone with a clinical finish in ninth minute and though Ederson 's wayward pass allowed Juve to equalise two minutes later, Guardiola's men were never in danger.
An own goal from Pierre Kalulu restored City's lead before the break before efforts from Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Savinho after the interval put City out of sight.
Dusan Vlahovic grabbed a consolation goal for the Italian giants, who will join City in the knockouts, late on. More to follow.

White Sox ban fan for comments that left Ketel Marte in tears over late mother
Arizona's victory over the host Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night was marred after a fan's insults about Ketel Marte's late mother left the Diamondbacks second baseman in tears. Marte was visibly upset after the incident, which took place when he came to bat at the top of the seventh inning. The 31-year-old's mother, Elpidia Valdez, died in a car accident in 2017 in the Dominican Republic. Diamondbacks manager Torey Luvollo put his arm around Marte and talked with him during a pitching change while the White Sox were batting. Lovullo said he heard the comment but declined to repeat what was said when asked by reporters after the game. Lovullo and bench coach Jeff Banister contacted security at Rate Field and asked for the fan to be ejected, a Diamondbacks spokesperson told the Arizona Republic. 'We commend the White Sox for taking immediate action in removing the fan,' said MLB in a statement. The White Sox told ESPN on Wednesday that a 22-year-old man has been given an indefinite ban from their stadium, and the ban was later extended to all MLB ballparks. ESPN also reported that the fan had expressed remorse for the comments. 'I looked right at him and he looked at the person, as well. He put his head down and I could tell it had an immediate impact on him, for sure.' Lovullo added: 'I just reacted as a dad would. I could see he was sobbing. It hurt. [I told him], 'I love you and I'm with you and we're all together and you're not alone. No matter what happens, no matter what was said or what you heard, that guy is an idiot. It shouldn't have an impact on you.'' Marte declined to speak to reporters after the 4-1 victory, during which he homered and went 2-for-4 to raise his batting average to .320. His teammate, shortstop Geraldo Perdomo, also consoled Marte during the game and said the fan should be banned. 'That can't happen,' Perdomo told reporters after the game. 'Everybody knows how Ketel is. He's fun. He plays the game hard. I feel bad for him. I feel mad about it. I hope MLB can do something with that guy.' Lovullo, who has been the Diamondbacks manager since 2017, paid tribute to Marte's spirit. 'I've known Ketel for nine years, and he's had some unbelievably great moments and some hardships, as well,' he said. 'Some really, really tough moments in his life, and I know those. At the end of the day, we're human beings and we have emotions. I saw him hurting, and I wanted to protect him.'

The ferocious sunshine gave way to heavy rain just before the break but City were not deterred as Savinho shot at Di Gregorio before the keeper pushed away further strikes from Ait-Nouri and Marmoush. Marmoush was replaced by Haaland at the interval and the Norwegian soon made an impact. Reijnders played in Nunes, who rolled a pass perfectly into the path of Haaland in front of goal. His connection was hardly the cleanest but such was his positioning he could hardly miss. Ederson denied Vlahovic as Juve sought a way back but Haaland created the opening for the fourth when his pass was picked up by Savinho and powered in by Foden from close range. Savinho added another in style when he thundered in a shot off the underside of the bar from distance after 75 minutes. Juve were well beaten but Vlahovic battled on and pulled one back six minutes from time after good work by Kenan Yildiz.

Twins topple Mariners 10-1 to split four-game series
June 27 - Trevor Larnach homered, singled, drove in three runs and scored twice for the Minnesota Twins in a 10-1 win against the visiting Seattle Mariners on Thursday, helping them earn a split of the four-game series in Minneapolis. Brooks Lee and Matt Wallner also homered, Carlos Correa had two RBIs and Byron Buxton scored two runs in the leadoff spot for the Twins, who have won two in a row following a five-game skid. Twins right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson (3-4) came in winless in his past six starts, but he earned the victory after allowing just two hits over five shutout innings. He struck out six and walked one. Seattle starter Emerson Hancock (3-4) limited the Twins to two runs and three hits over five innings, striking out two and walking three, but the bullpen surrendered eight runs in the sixth. The start of the game was delayed four hours and 22 minutes because of rain. Buxton walked with one out in the fifth inning and took second on an errant pickoff attempt by Hancock.
