Mohit Suri Called Ahaan Panday ‘Fraud' After Saiyaara Shoot Ended: ‘He Sent His Bad Auditions…'
Saiyaara director Mohit Suri jokingly admitted if he had seen Ahaan Panday's over-the-top audition videos before casting him, he might have reconsidered the decision.
Saiyaara director Mohit Suri recently shared a hilarious anecdote about Ahaan, revealing that the actor sent him all his 'bad auditions' after wrapping up Saiyaara shoot. These video clips featured his 'over-the-top' dialogues, and Ahaan showed the videos to Mohit Suri, playfully telling him 'You've cast this boy!' The filmmaker jokingly admitted that had he seen those videos before casting Ahaan, he might have reconsidered the decision. He playfully called Ahaan a 'fraud' for keeping those over-the-top auditions hidden until filming wrapped.
While speaking with Zoom, Saiyaara director Mohit Suri said, 'After the last day of his shoot got over, he (Ahaan Panday) sent me all his bad auditions. He said, 'Tell me something, bro. You've cast this boy." (laughs) If I would have seen those auditions, I would have probably not cast him. He's doing every over-the-top dialogue possible." Mohit Suri revealed that Ahaan is an ardent fan of Govinda, Shah Rukh Khan, and Ranbir Kapoor.
'He knows he is not good in them. But he purposely shared them saying, 'You've cast this boy!" After the shoot is over." When asked what he told Ahaan after watching the videos, Mohit Suri replied, 'I said you are a fraud. And some swear words."
Meanwhile, he also opened up about Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor's support for Saiyaara, calling it 'biased" — and saying it means even more to him when audiences embrace the film too. 'Those two are biased also. Dono teaser se hi film ko support kar rahe the (They have been supporting the film since the teaser). They are biased towards me but to see the rest of the world love it the same way, as they have, is more important also," he said.
Mohit's latest film Saiyaara, featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, follows a lyricist and singer navigating love, art, and emotion. Released on 18 July, the film has earned nearly Rs 300 crore in India thanks to its soulful music and heartfelt storytelling.

Saiyaara box office collection day 20: Aditya Chopra predicted Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda's film would earn Rs 100 cr; it's earned more than three times as much
Mohit Suri's romantic drama Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, was never meant to be a Yash Raj Films project. Aditya Chopra's banner is best known for delivering iconic love stories like his late legendary father Yash Chopra's Kabhi Kabhie (1976), Chandni (1989), Lamhe (1991), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Veer-Zaara (2004), and Aditya's own Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), Mohabattein (2000), and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008). On the other hand, Suri, who's a product of Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt's Vishesh Films, is renowned for helming Aashiqui 2 (2013), Ek Villain (2014), and Half Girlfriend (2017). But their combination has wielded great results, as Saiyaara has crossed the Rs 500 crore milestone at the worldwide box office and the Rs 300 crore mark at the domestic box office in less than three weeks. It's the highest-grossing romantic film of India, and also the highest-grossing Indian movie starring newcomers. On Wednesday (day 20), it added another Rs 2 crore to the Indian box office, a slight dip from its Tuesday earnings of Rs 2.5 crore. The current box office collection of Saiyaara in India stands at Rs 306.6 crore, as per Sacnilk. In an interview with PTI, Suri revealed that Aditya Chopra had predicted Saiyaara's success, yet probably not to this historic extent. In fact, the producer predicted the film would make Rs 100 crore right after watching just the rough edit. 'I didn't really fall for that I think. I was not too sure. I was still like, 'Let me edit the film. Let me bring it down,'' said Suri. Interestingly, Saiyaara was initially being developed as Aashiqui 3 by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series. However, since Suri wanted to take time in finishing his script, the movie then went to Anurag Basu, who's developing the threequel with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. 'Once there was no sequel pressure or of a star cast which had an opening number to live up to, I stopped caring about the commerce. And I just went and made a film,' said Suri, adding, 'If I was making a sequel, or a franchise, I would be somewhere playing to a commerce like 'Let's make it better than Aashiqui 2. Let's make the music better'. I didn't do that. I did what's best for the film. It was such a liberating process.' It also serves as a launchpad for Ahaan, the first cousin of Ananya Panday and the nephew of Chunky Panday. Both the actors were strategically kept away from promotions, which seems to have paid rich dividends. 'I genuinely felt that if we arm these kids with a story, a narrative, a song, then they have a better fighting chance rather than just the way they look or how they are photographed,' Suri reasons.

Amid the success, there were rumours that the film will hit an OTT platform soon. However, the makers took to their official Instagram handle to clear the air. Ashwin Kumar, the director of the film and founder of Kleem Productions, shared a note. It read: 'We have been receiving a lot of buzz about Mahavatar Narsimha coming to OTT soon — but let us clarify: For now, our film is ONLY available in theatres across the whole wide world. We have not finalised any OTT platform yet. Please believe only authentic updates shared from our official handles.' The success of the film has also given rise to several memes with people drawing comparisons with Hollywood film Avatar. One of the meme reads: 'America — We have Avatar. India — We have MahaAvatar.' With no big releases scheduled for this weekend, films Mahavatar Narsimha and Saiyaara have another week to add to their collections. The films might get affected in the Independence weekend with two big films hitting the big screen: Hrithik Roshan's War 2 and Rajinikanth's Coolie. Meanwhile, Saiyaara has crossed Rs 300 crore mark.

Peacock Meets Hen, Sparks Fly — But Their ‘Love Child' Steals The Show!
Last Updated: A viral video claiming a peacock and a hen have produced unusual offspring has captured social media's attention, but experts urge caution There is so rhyme or reason as to what goes viral on social media and why. A recent viral video shows chicks hatching from a hen's eggs, with one chick appearing to have vibrant, iridescent tail feathers of a peacock. With bodies shaped like ordinary chicks but flamboyant plumage, this chick has quickly captured the internet's imagination, and the sight has sparked laughter across the internet. While many viewers were entertained, the authenticity of the video is under scrutiny. News18 could not confirm the video's veracity, and many experts strongly suspect it has been digitally manipulated or staged. The most likely explanation? Someone has playfully attached peacock feathers to an ordinary chick to create a funny and shareable clip. Can Peacocks And Hens Reproduce? Scientifically speaking, peacocks (Pavo cristatus) and hens (Gallus gallus domesticus) are entirely different species, making natural crossbreeding virtually impossible. Experts universally agree that such a union would not produce offspring. Although the video is clearly humorous, it highlights how easily manipulated content spreads online. One user quipped, 'Peacock Bhaiya wooed the hen and this is the result! Even nature jokes!", a nod to the absurdity of it all. In an age of deepfakes and advanced editing, it's a timely reminder to question what we see before accepting it as truth. Though meant for entertainment, amid the era of video trickery, we must pause, laugh, and then look closer. Not everything that spreads online is as it seems. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
