Adolescence star Owen Cooper, 15, wins huge award – after getting the day off school to attend glitzy NY ceremony

ADOLESCENCE star Owen Cooper has bagged a top international prize after skipping school to attend a glitzy ceremony in New York. The rising actor, 15, jetted to the Big Apple to celebrate his win and rubbed shoulders with big names as he proudly flew the flag for British talent. 5 5 Owen - who plays troubled teen Jack in the hit coming-of-age drama - wowed judges with his emotional performance, beating out fierce competition from across the globe. He won the Gotham TV Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Limited Series. Taking to the stage, Owen said: "Main person that I have to thank is Erin, who is also nominated for this award. "That episode that we did together, it was easy to do it with you and it was such an honour to share this, share this award with you. "You deserve this award just as much as I do, so round of applause for Erin please." He added: "And I also want to thank Philip Barantini, Joe Johnson, Stephen Graham and I want to thank Hannah Walters. "I just want to thank everyone that was part of the Adolescence cast and crew, everyone that was there." He concluded: "Who else, my parents for creating me. Yeah but that's about it. Thanks to Gotham awards for handing me this award." The gritty drama bagged three Gotham Awards - with Owen's co-stars Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty also up for gongs. The teen was allowed to extend his half-term holidays from school so he could attend the event. The TV teen sensation is racking up trophies left, right and centre - and could soon make Emmy history. The young Brit has already scooped IndieWire's Breakthrough Award, and insiders say he's a sure-fire nominee for an Emmy, where he could become the youngest-ever male winner in the 76-year history of the ceremony. TV insiders have called it a 'genius move' to place him in the Supporting category instead of Lead, giving him a major edge. But Owen is keeping his feet firmly on the ground - recently insisting he's more focused on 'doing well at school' than cleaning up on the red carpet. The four-part series explores the story of the fictional Miller family, whose lives are turned upside down when their 13-year-old-son Jamie is arrested on suspicion of murder having been radicalised online. It reached 24.3million views in its first four days and been hailed the most important show of the year. Now it has been said Netflix is keen to explore options to extend the format to further series. A TV source said: 'Execs are thrilled by the results and acclaim for Adolescence. 'It's seen as a format that can run and run, at least to a second series if not further, as it could take in a different teen issue each series. 'The topic has resonated with viewers because it taps into parents biggest fear and there's plenty of scope for more in the same vein. 'Stylistically, the one-take creative approach could become the hallmark of the series. It's one of the aspects which has got everyone talking.' 5 5 5

Linda Evangelista reunites with ex Francois-Henri Pinault and his wife Salma Hayek as they celebrate son Augustin, 18, graduating high school

Linda Evangelista reunited with ex Francois-Henri Pinault and his wife Salma Hayek as they came together to celebrate her son Augustin graduating high school. The supermodel, 60, looked every inch the proud mother as she posed with her lookalike son, 18, on his big day. Taking to Instagram on Monday, she uploaded a slew of snaps which showed Augustin proudly posing with his diploma before celebrating with a personalised cake and enjoying a cigar with his billionaire father. In one sweet snap, the graduate hugged his stepmother Salma, 58, and mum Linda as they posed alongside his father Francois, 63. Linda captioned the snaps: 'Then this happened. ♥️✨I'm one proud momma. Blessed blessed blessed…' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Linda and Francois-Henri briefly dated from September 2005 until January 2006. The Kering CEO started dating From Dusk Till Dawn star Salma in April that year, when Linda was pregnant with Augustin. In 2007, Linda and Francois-Henri announced their engagement and welcomed their daughter Valentina in September. When Augustin was first born, Linda initially kept his paternity a secret. Years later she publicly revealed the father was French billionaire François-Henri, in a child support battle that was ultimately settled out of court in 2012. Linda previously gave an insight into her co-parenting relationship with Salma in an interview with Vogue. She explained that she spends time with Salma and her ex during the holiday season. However, one Thanksgiving, she was ill and not able to join the festivities. 'I was sick at Thanksgiving. And Salma got on the plane with her daughter, came here, and made Thanksgiving dinner,' she explained. Linda then humorously revealed she had given Hayek an 'eclectic wish list' for what she wanted to eat. 'I wanted her Mexican chicken with truffled potatoes. And she spent the day in the kitchen and cooked it herself. No help.' 'The kids helped her at the end. She made a feast - a beautiful, beautiful meal. I had told her that I wasn't going to have Thanksgiving; I wasn't feeling well. And she said, "Oh yes you are: I am coming." And poof, she was here.' Linda also opened up about her son and wanting to give him a 'normal upbringing' - despite her celebrity status. She revealed both she and Augustin sit in the nosebleed seats at events after offers for front row seats at venues at Madison Square Garden dwindled down. 'Now we buy our tickets and we sit with the fans in nosebleed. We're fine with that. I wanted to have a very normal upbringing for my child.'
