Mother's Day Weekend is here, and the top priority should be spending time with Mom and the moms in your life, but if you still need ideas on what to do, we've got you covered!
Pick the perfect bouquet at the Flower Festival at Pike Place Market. There will be 35 local farmers selling, and there will be live music all day. This is going down on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In Capitol Hill this weekend, it is Pierogi Fest. In addition to tons of tasty food to enjoy, there will also be Polish clothes for sale, a beer garden, and a performance from a Polish choir. This is going on at the Polish Cultural Center from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
In the Beacon Hill neighborhood on Saturday, you can check out the first of four Beacon Arts Street Fairs. It's free to attend and it's all about Mother's Day. There will be music from female-led bands, poetry writing, family fun like story time, art projects and dance workshops, plus food, an art market and a garden share for those working on your yards.
In Edmonds at the Frances Anderson Playfield on Saturday, it is the Edmonds Spring Fest. This free all-ages event has over 100 vendors, plenty of food trucks, and the perfect place to find something for Mom.
If you want something a little more tranquil for Mom, check out BonsaiFest at the Pacific Bonsai Museum in Federal Way. This event is free, and there will be hundreds of bonsais to check out and appreciate the craft that goes into each one. There will also be live bonsai-making demonstrations and special exhibitions that highlight all things bonsai. You can grab a bonsai for mom, enjoy food trucks and there's fun for the kids as well.
Seattle Beer Week is underway starting Friday and running through next week. One of the headline events is Friday night at 5 p.m. at the Beveridge Place Pub, where there will be 10 casks of beer from 10 different Seattle Breweries on tap for people to enjoy. Not to mention events and specials all week long at a ton of spots around Seattle. Don't forget to try the Official Beer of Seattle Beer Week as well, the Group Project. Get more details on all the events and the schedule right here.
This is one of the cooler community events of the spring, if you ask me, Saturday in West Seattle is the West Seattle Community Garage Sale Day. Over 500 homes will be hosting sales and if you are looking for something in particular, you can use the helpful search features on the West Seattle Blog to find listed items.
At the Evergreen State Fairgrounds on Saturday, you and the family can learn about the wonderful world of reptiles at the Seattle Metro Reptile Expo. This event has been going on since 2009 and for those that are a fan of these creatures, you'll be face to face with reptiles, bugs, arachnids, and amphibians. You can find more details right here.
Take your mom out to the ballgame as the red hot Mariners are back in town. The Toronto Blue Jays come to town and there's promo events for every game this weekend. Also, in the world of sports, the Seattle Reign take on the Houston Dash Sunday at 5 p.m. at Lumen Field.
Here's an event sent by a listener:

In the age of Steam censorship, Peak devs bravely go where no Peak has gone before and begrudgingly add requested cannibalism feature: "Fine"

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Peak has become even more peak by adding a much-requested feature: cannibalism. After previously announcing, "guys we can't add cannibalism to Peak," developer Aggro Crab has given in. We did it. Yesterday, the official Aggro Crab Twitter account simply posted the word "fine" as a quote tweet to their original cannibalism dismissal. A follow up reports patch 1.10.a adds Polish and Turkish language support – I wonder if they caused the game to crash like French did – bug fixes, and a "secret third thing." Well, we now know that secret third thing is cannibalism, and it's been implemented in a hilarious way. "The new Peak update is wild," reads a tweet from Twitch and YouTube partner Ava Lamp. "If you get too hungry, your friend looks like a cooked turkey, and you can eat them!" I love that the game has gone with the cartoon approach of simply turning one character into food when another gets hungry. It may seem cruel – or funny, depending on who you are as a person – to eat your friend while trying to climb to the top of the mountain. But, since the devs stopped us from being able to claim victory if our dead body makes it over the finish line, it makes sense to offer ourselves up as a sacrifice so that someone else can make it, at least. For a game made quickly to give Aggro Crab its creative spark back, Peak has done phenomenally well, selling over one million copies in the first six days it was out. Now, climb that mountain and eat your friends. Or, check out all the best games of 2025 so far.

African Grey Parrot Coughs To Remind Mom She Wants a Bite in Funny Clip

African Grey Parrot Coughs To Remind Mom She Wants a Bite in Funny Clip originally appeared on Parade Pets. Whenever I'm feeling down, I know there's one part of the internet that'll easily perk me right up: talking birds. There's no telling what these funny little comedians will do or say, and they really don't care how we feel about it! Gizmo, an African Grey Parrot, is a part of this club of vocal birds, and she's pretty good at tossing in things you didn't know she picked up. In a recent clip, she politely asks Mom for a bite of food... by coughing. It's brilliant! Almost as if she meant to say, "Ahem, excuse me, ma'am... could you please spare this famished, twig-like frame just a morsel of your sustenance?" A cough to remind someone you're there will do the trick every time! African Grey Parrots are masters at off-the-charts mimicry, and Gizmo's clearly been practicing. She's like a little human lady trapped in a Parrot's body, but still capable of expressing some things, like "Give me food!"Coughs aren't the only thing Gizmo's good at, by far. This cutie has a whole arsenal of funny phrases, words, and sounds to amuse the masses, and Mom. She's also a rad dancer with moves like Jagger and an expert at making Mom stop and pay attention, but it's videos like this one that crack me up because it shows her ability to understand what a joke is. That's diabolical, if you ask me! The evil laugh is too much! You can tell she gets a kick out of surprising everyone with whatever flies out of her little mouth next. She reminds me of my kids when they were toddlers, taunting me at bedtime... African Grey Parrots Can Have Large Vocabularies African Greys like Gizmo are really good at learning new words if they want to. Up to 1,000 words or more is possible, and some add a little extra after picking up an accent! More than that, these birds have the know-how to use them "coherently and in context," making your everyday conversations with one feel like you're talking to another person at times! All of this to say, I already knew talking Parrots were smart, funny, and impressive (some even have the mouth of a trucker), but Gizmo's use of a cough for attention? I'm going to try that one the next time I want a bite of my husband's food! 🐶🐾🐾 African Grey Parrot Coughs To Remind Mom She Wants a Bite in Funny Clip first appeared on Parade Pets on Aug 13, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade Pets on Aug 13, 2025, where it first appeared.
