Resident doc dies after alleged suicide attempt
Jaipur: A resident doctor at SN Medical College, Jodhpur Dr Rakesh Vishnoi (30), died during treatment at SMS Hospital Saturday night after allegedly attempting suicide Friday.
He was under stress due to departmental issues, colleagues said. Vishnoi was shifted via green corridor and put on ECMO, but despite efforts, doctors couldn't save him. "Despite all medical efforts, we lost a dedicated resident, a kind soul, and a true fighter," a resident doctor said in Jaipur. In the devastating Air India flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad last week, which claimed over 270 lives, an eight-month-old boy, youngest of all the victims, suffered burn injuries and is undergoing treatment. When the aircraft plunged into the BJ Medical College's residential complex moments after take off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, Manisha Kachhadiya and her 8-month-old son Dhyaansh were in one of the buildings affected by the crash. Dhyaansh, who is the youngest among all the injured, suffered 28% burns and is undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad where he has been admitted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), news agency PTI reported. Dhyaansh's father Kapil Kachhadiya said that the infant's condition is improving but is still in PICU for observation. 'He (Dhyaansh) is improving. He is still in the PICU and should be shifted to the general ward in a day or two," Kapil said as quoted by the news agency. He said when the crash occurred, Manisha also suffered injuries. But, she picked up their son and fled the spot. Her condition is stable and is currently undergoing treatment in the general ward of the hospital, he added. Kapil is pursuing his super-speciality MCh degree course in urology at the BJ Medical College. Kapil was at the Medical College when the plane crash occurred. The magnitude of the crash was so intense that the subsequent fire caused burn injuries to his wife Manisha, who is a homeopath, and son Dhyaansh, despite being inside a flat. 241 out of 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 (AI 171) and another 29 persons, including five MBBS students, on the ground were killed in the crash. One person survived the tragedy. The lone survivor was identified as Indian-origin British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh who was returning to the UK with his brother Ajay Kumar Rakesh, 45, who was in a different row inside the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Meanwhile, 211 victims have been identified so far through DNA matching, while 189 bodies are handed over to their families. Authorities are carrying out DNA tests to establish the identity of the victims as many bodies were charred beyond recognition or severely damaged. Ahmedabad plane crash tragedy: Civil Hospital ensures systematic arrangement of embalming and coffin sealing certification for mortal remains
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], June 18 (ANI): In the aftermath of the recent tragic AI 171 plane crash in Ahmedabad, the Civil Hospital has followed important and legal procedures to ensure the respectful and dignified transportation of the victims' mortal remains to their respective hometowns. Professor Dharmesh Patel, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at BJ Medical College, has provided detailed information regarding this process. He stated that embalming was carried out for the bodies that had to be transported over long distances, according to a release from Gujarat CMO. Dr Patel explained, 'Embalming is a scientific procedure that helps preserve a body for an extended period. It is carried out to prevent the decomposition of the body and to facilitate its respectful and dignified transportation over long distances, especially to foreign countries. In this process, a special type of chemical solution (such as formaldehyde-based) is injected into the body. These chemicals prevent the body from decaying and help keep it preserved. This procedure ensures long-term preservation of the mortal remains, which is particularly essential for air transportation.' He added that each body was issued both an embalming certificate and a coffin certificate--both of which are legal documents. When a body is being transported by air, the deceased's personal belongings and other items are placed inside the coffin along with the body. At such times, it becomes necessary to provide a certificate that these items have been kept together, according to the release. Additionally, during air travel, authorities often demand to see the embalming certificate. Thus, the Civil Hospital administration not only carried out postmortem and forensic examinations of the deceased but also ensured that all required legal procedures and certifications were provided for the dignified repatriation of the bodies to their hometowns. This reflects that the Civil Hospital left no gaps in the management of this tragic incident, the release added. A London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a hostel complex of BJ Medical College in the Meghani Nagar area of Gujarat's Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, The tragedy claimed 241 lives out of 242 onboard, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. ‘Expedite emergency med procurement for monsoon'
New Delhi: Health minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on Wednesday issued directives for expediting the procurement of emergency medicine for the ensuing monsoon season.
