Adani Ent sells 20% in AWL Agri for Rs 7,150 cr
Following this latest deal, Wilmar is set to become the majority shareholder, with a 64 per cent holding in AWL.Adani Commodities LLP (ACL), a subsidiary of AEL, currently holds 30.42 per cent of AWL.
The sale marks the next step in Adani's planned divestment of its entire 44 per cent stake in AWL and eventual exit from the FMCG joint venture.
In December 2024, Adani Commodities LLP (ACL) and LencePte Ltd, a subsidiary of Wilmar International, Singapore, had entered into an agreement. They gave each other the option to buy or sell AEL/ACL's shares in AWL (Adani Wilmar Limited) later, at a price they both agree on, but not more than Rs305 per share. The two together held 88 per cent in the company (44% each).
In January 2025, AEL/ACL sold 13.5 per cent of its shareholding in AWL at Rs276.51 per share, raising Rs4,855 crore. This was done so that more of the company's shares are owned by the public, as required by minimum public shareholding requirements.
After this sale, ACL/AEL owned about 30.42 per cent of AWL. Of this 30.42 per cent, between 11 per cent and 20 per cent will now be sold to Lence, and the balance will be offered to strategic partners and investors brought in by Wilmar.
The remaining 10.42 per cent stake currently held by Adani Commodities will be sold to pre-identified investors before the transaction with Lence is completed.
After all transactions are closed, Adani Commodities will fully exit AWL, which will no longer be an associate company of Adani Enterprises.
AWLs stock was trading at Rs277.7 apiece on Thursday, up by Rs15.2 or 5.7 per cent.
Meanwhile, AWL Agri Business reported its highest-ever Q1 revenue at Rs17,059 crore for FY26, up 21 per cent from the same quarter last fiscal. The growth was mainly driven by its edible oil business, which grew 26 per cent year-on-year. This segment contributed Rs13,415 crore, making up 78.6 per cent of total revenue and 61 per cent of the overall volume mix.

SAIL readies Rs 7,500-cr capex for FY26
State-owned steel maker Sail is looking to spend Rs7,500 crore as capex in the ongoing fiscal, 25 per cent higher from FY25, to expand capacities across plants, a senior company official said. SAIL, which is India's largest steel player in public sector, is in expansion mode and working to scale up its overall capacity to 35 million tonne (MnT) by 2030 from a combined 20 MnT capacity of its five integrated plants (ISPs) spread across Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, at an outlay of nearly Rs1 lakh crore. 'Capex last year was close to Rs6,000 crore. And this year, we have kept a target of Rs7,500 crore throughout the year, which is a higher target,' Sail Director, Finance, Ashok Kumar Panda told PTI responding to a question on company's investment plans. The capex has already been approved by the board and SAIL is confident to achieve it by end of the fiscal. In the April-June, SAIL has already spent Rs1,642 crore, which is more than the target set for the first quarter, he said. Sharing details of the expansion plan, Panda said tendering activities are ongoing at IISCO Steel Plant (West Bengal), where a 4.5 MTPA expansion is planned. The plant has a current capacity of 2.5 MT. At Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), a brownfield expansion plan is in progress to increase output to 3.09 MTPA from current 2.2 MTPA, along with a greenfield expansion. For other plants, expansion plans are under consideration. The expansion plans for Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) in Chhattisgarh, Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand, and Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in Odisha are being worked out accordingly. When asked about the expectations from the coming quarters for the company, Panda said: 'You already know we reported a multi-fold rise in consolidated net profit (Rs885.93 cr) in Q1 driven by improved operational efficiency, better cash flow and strong growth in sales volume.' Better cashflow has resulted in substantial reduction in borrowings. Sail will work towards that to maintain the momentum in the remaining three quarters as well, the Director said. Sail's saleable steel production (finished steel) during the quarter stood at 4.7 million tonnes as against 4.2 million tonne in the year-ago period, registering a growth of 12 per cent.

Adani Enterprises' net profit plunges by nearly 50% in Q1 of FY26
Adani Group's flagship company -- Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) -- on Thursday reported a nearly 50% drop in its consolidated net profit to Rs 734 crore for the quarter ended June 30 (Q1FY26) as against Rs 1,455 crore profit logged during the same quarter of the last fiscal. AEL's revenue from operations declined 14% to Rs 21,961 crore in Q1FY26 as against Rs 25,472 crore reported in the year-ago period. Adani Enterprises shares closed 4% lower on Thursday at Rs 2,431 apiece on the BSE. A drop in coal-fired power demand, mainly due to a milder summer and earlier-than-expected monsoon, weighed on the mainstay coal trading division of the company, which contributes 36% of the revenue. It traded 17% fewer volumes at 12.8 million tonnes during the quarter. "Results for the quarter impacted primarily on account of the decrease in trade volume and volatility of index prices in IRM (integrated resources management) and commercial mining," AEL said in a statement.
