Special edition of Bahuvachana Sahitya Vimarshe to be released on June 14
BENGALURU
A special edition of Bahuvachana Sahitya Vimarshe, the Kannada literary journal, will be released on June 14 at 5.30 p.m. in Bengaluru. The event will be held at Nani Angala, Suchitra Film Society, Banashankari II Stage.
Renowned Kannada language expert and literary critic K.V. Narayana will release the special edition and deliver the presidential address.
The event will feature noted columnist and progressive thinker Shivasundar, who will share his insights on contemporary literature and society.
Celebrated poet, playwright, and translator Mamatha Sagar will be the chief guest, lending a distinctive voice to the evening's proceedings.
The special edition of Bahuvachana Sahitya Vimarshe promises to be a significant contribution to Kannada literary discourse, featuring critical essays, reviews, and reflections on current literary trends.

3,000 copies of ‘Heart Lamp' sold out
Mysuru: The euphoria around 'Heart Lamp', the story collection of Hassan-based Kannada writer Banu Mushtaq, which brought the first International Booker Prize to Kannada, has continued. 'Edeya Hanate', a story collection in Kannada comprising 12 stories featured in the 'Heart Lamp' published by Abhiruchi Prakashana, is selling like hot cakes. 3,000 copies of this book, which was released on June 4, were sold out by June 8. According to Ganesh, publisher of Abhiruchi Prakashana, there is a demand for 20,000 copies of this book. It can be recalled that these 12 stories were part of 'Haseena Mattu Itara Kategalu'. "The Edeya Hanate book has great demand from all over the state," said Ganesh. "The book is well accepted by readers. The book is received very well both online and offline. We got huge demand from across the state, which is unique," he explained. He also stated that the demand for 'Haseena Mattu Itara Kategalu' is also good. Ganesh informed that the idea behind publishing the collection of 12 stories featured in the 'Heart Lamp' is to present the selected stories of Banu Mushtaq to readers, which will develop interest among readers in reading other stories of hers. "Immediately after she got the Booker Prize, there was a huge demand for her story collection. So we decided to bring this book along with the 'Haseena Mattu Itara Kategalu'. Currently, both the books are not available in the market. The re-printing is in progress," he said.

Mysuru: KSOU Akka Mahadevi Research and Extension Center director Kavita Rai on Sunday emphasised that while language speaking can be taught, writing instruction poses significant challenges. She noted that people currently experience anxiety about writing. She also expressed criticism towards actor Kamal Haasan's recent comments about the Kannada language. Speaking at an event, she said that as a result of modern technology, the process of translation from one language to another is happening on a large scale. The youth of the current era have become proficient in computer writing rather than handwriting. There is no need to be surprised if in the future they write with the help of artificial intelligence, she said. She highlighted the complexity of teaching writing in one language to speakers of another, considering social and cultural contexts. She noted that linguistic expression varies among individuals. She pointed out that languages did not develop sequentially but emerged simultaneously. Poet Jyothi Guruprasad highlighted the increasing instances of plagiarism. She noted that this practice has disrupted the connection between reading and critical thinking, with unauthorised sharing of content on social media becoming prevalent. She attributed this to inadequate educational methodologies. She advocated for educational institutions to adopt teaching approaches that make learning enjoyable, which would encourage students to develop independent writing skills. The event was attended by writers C Naganna and Kalpana Mukunda Iyengar.

Rishab Shetty and crew unhurt after boat capsizes during Kantara Chapter 1 shoot
