Cultivate Art brings the Young Collectors Weekend Global to Bengaluru for the first time
'Young Collectors Weekend Global is not a traditional group show that is curated on a particular theme,' says Farah Siddiqui, founder of Cultivate Arts. 'It is an amalgamation of art, where we consciously bring in different artists whose works are vastly different from each other. Visitors can expect textile and ceramic art, sculptures in terracotta and clay, as well as watercolours and other paintings.' .
Curated by independent art critic and writer Girish Shahane, Young Collectors Weekend Global 2025 will feature sculptor artist, Harsha Durugadda, installation artist, Sareena Khemka, miniature-style painter Divya Pamnani and multidisciplinary artist Raka Panda.
Other featured artists include, ceramic and cartography artist, Rewati Shahani, mixed media painter KP Pradeep Kumar, textile and ceramic artist Aninda Varma, indigo textile artist Hansika Sharma, ceramicist and paper sculptor, Mansie Shah, conceptual artist Megha Madan, fusion painter Rajnish Channesh, watercolourist Ahalya Rajendran, sculptor Richa Arya, printmaker Zarrin Fatima Shamsi, visual artists, Anni Kumari and Amjum Rizve, Baroda-based artist, Ahalya Rajendran, and multidisciplinary artist Meera.
'We have seen the work of these artists over the years and believe they should be exposed to collectors. We do not work in isolation but believe in collaboration and building the art market,' says Farah.
'The show is open to everyone because we want to meet more people, observe their tastes and have conversations with them about contemporary art,' she says.
The exhibition will include guided walks and a panel discussion with art collectors, Manju Sara Rajan, Abhinit Khanna and Arjun Agarwal on May 23. 'They are all collectors with differing perspectives and it will be interesting to see their view on the works of art and their personal engagement with culture.'
Initiated in 2020, the Young Collectors Weekend Global has been hosted previously in Delhi and Mumbai. 'This year, we wanted to bring it to Bengaluru because the South has its own cultural sensitivity through its dance, theatre and music forms. Many of our best artists are from the South and we wanted this curation to help us understand the collectors and artists in this city.'
Cultivate Art was founded in 2017, Farah says, with a mission to discover talented artists and expose them to new audiences both through online and offline initiatives to expand their accessibility.
With this new permanent space inside Abstract Art Gallery, Farah hopes to bring more curations to the city this year.
Young Collectors Weekend Global is at the Abstract Art Gallery, Cunningham Road, from May 22 to June 5. Entry free. For more details, call 9820602823 or follow cultivateartglobal on social media.

Not Arjun Rampal, but this actor was supposed to play ‘Mukesh Mehra' in Shah Rukh Khan's 'Om Shanti Om'
It's hard to imagine anyone but playing the suave yet sinister 'Mukesh Mehra' in Om Shanti Om, but the role nearly went to another Bollywood name — . Director Farah Khan has long admitted that casting for the 2007 blockbuster's antagonist was a nightmare. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'Casting for the role of Mukesh Mehra was the most difficult as it was a completely negative role, there was nothing positive about him,' she told in an earlier interview with us. The team had a specific vision: Deepika Padukone's on-screen love interest had to be conventionally good-looking, 'probably even better-looking than .' Vivek was offered the role before Arjun but turned it down, not wanting to repeat a negative character after Company. Around the same time, he chose 's Shootout at Lokhandwala instead. Farah & SRK's last-minute scramble By New Year's Eve 2006, the film was set to start shooting in just days — and still had no villain. That's when fate intervened at Shah Rukh Khan's party. Farah and SRK cornered Arjun Rampal — quite literally in a bathroom — to pitch him the part. Initially, Arjun hesitated, calling it 'too villainous,' especially with dark scenes like 'burning the girl.' But SRK refused to give up, personally convincing Arjun to trust both him and Farah. Arjun joined the film just two days before costume fittings, later recalling, 'I'm glad I trusted both of them.' No regrets for Vivek Oberoi Vivek, for his part, has no bitterness about the opportunity lost. In Bollywood Hungama interview, when asked by a fan why he turned down Om Shanti Om, he said, 'You can't go back and change those decisions… you move forward.' The actor has also famously passed on Munnabhai MBBS, Hum Tum, and Bunty Aur Babli. As he puts it, 'For the 10-odd films I let go which succeeded, there were 70 or 80… which failed.' Arjun Rampal enjoys lunch with girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades and daughter Mahikaa Rampal

Labubu Dolls Counterfeit Alert: How to Spot Fake vs. Real Collectibles
Labubu dolls have rapidly become a favorite collectible toys in recent years, attracting a global fanbase with their quirky 'ugly-cute' designs. However, authorities worldwide are issuing urgent warnings as counterfeit Labubu dolls continue to appear in stores and online platforms. Marketed as Pop Mart's 'The Monsters Big Into Energy Vinyl Collectible Dolls,' these fake imitation toys have raised alarms due to potential safety risks and quality dolls, created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung and distributed via Pop Mart, are celebrated for their distinctive 'ugly-cute' design. The dolls have significantly gained a devoted global following on social media platforms like TikTok, with collectors often showcasing their rare finds. Their limited editions and distinctive aesthetics have made Labubu dolls highly desirable, creating a strong market for genuine products. Unfortunately, the rising popularity of Labubu dolls has led to a surge in counterfeit products. These fake versions are being sold digitally and in stores, including in markets across the UK and Ireland. While these copies have the appearance of the originals, they often fail to meet the quality and safety standards of genuine dolls. Authorities, including the UK's Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI), have issued alerts about these counterfeit toys. The fake dolls mostly contain small detachable parts such as eyes, hands, and feet, which can result in choking hazards for young children. Parents and collectors are strongly advised to exercise caution while purchasing these toys, particularly from unofficial sellers. To ensure a Labubu doll is genuine, buyers should consider several key factors: Packaging Quality: Real Labubu dolls come in well-designed boxes with clear printing and consistent colors. The Pop Mart logo is stamped on the doll's left foot, and a QR code on the packaging should link to Pop Mart's official authentication website. Safety and Compliance Marks: Genuine dolls sold in the UK carry a UKCA or CE mark, indicating compliance with safety standards. The packaging lists a UK-based importer or manufacturer and includes proper warnings and instructions. Doll Features: Authentic Labubu dolls have certain characteristics, such as exactly nine teeth, precise stitching, and balanced coloring. Counterfeit dolls may show uneven stitching, overly bright colors, or other design inconsistencies. QR Code Verification: Scanning the QR code should lead to Pop Mart's official website. Fake dolls may either have no QR code or direct users to non-official sites. If there is any suspicion that a doll is counterfeit, it is advisable to stop using it immediately. Products should be returned to the retailer for a refund or replacement. For online purchases, it is recommended that buyers should contact the seller directly and report the item to the relevant consumer protection authorities, to prevent further circulation of unsafe products.Q1.
