Tamil Group Aids Worker

TDT | Manama A stranded Indian worker who lost his job and faced visa issues has safely returned to Tamil Nadu, thanks to swift support from Bahrain's Tamil community and coordination with the Indian Embassy. Mr Murugesan, a native of Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu, had been working in Bahrain for seven years before recently losing his job. With his visa renewal stalled and no income or accommodation, he found himself in a desperate situation. His case came to the attention of the Indian Embassy, which reached out to Annai Tamil Mandram (ATM), a community group known for supporting Tamil-speaking expatriates in Bahrain, ATM officials said. The group responded quickly, arranging food, shelter, and beginning the process of resolving his legal and immigration issues. Working closely with the Indian Embassy and with support from Bahraini authorities, the volunteers helped clear fines, resolve Mr Murugesan's visa complications, and arranged a flight ticket for his return home. He departed Bahrain on Saturday night after all formalities were completed. Leaders from the group expressed gratitude to the Bahrain government, the Indian diplomatic mission, and the individuals who helped fund and facilitate the process. Annai Tamil Mandram operates a round-the-clock helpline for the Tamil community in Bahrain.
