Petrol pump owners threaten to stop digital payments over bank account blocks
Nagpur:
Petrol pump owners
in Nagpur have threatened to stop accepting all forms of digital payments—including UPI and card transactions—from May 10. With nearly 60% of
fuel payments
now made online, the boycott is expected to cause significant inconvenience to the public.
The Vidarbha Petroleum Dealers Association (VPDA) stated that petrol pump owners have been facing financial hardship due to a rise in
cyber fraud
cases. The decision follows recent incidents in which the bank accounts of several petrol pump owners were either blocked or placed under lien.
"These days, fraudsters often hack card or net banking credentials and use them to shop or buy fuel. When a complaint is filed, the police respond by blocking transactions. As a result, a lien has been marked on the bank accounts of nearly 30 petrol stations, and in two cases, the accounts were completely blocked," said Amit Gupta, president of the Federation of All Maharashtra Petroleum Dealers Association (FAMPEDA).
Gupta emphasised that petrol pump owners suffer financial losses despite having no involvement in the fraud. "Fraudsters also use stolen credentials to shop on e-commerce platforms. Yet, no liens are ever placed on the accounts of those companies," he pointed out.

The dealers are demanding fair and equal treatment. Memorandums have been submitted to the district collector and DCP Lohit Matani, who heads the cyber cell. A communication has also been sent to the Union ministry of home affairs through the Chamber of Associations of Maharashtra Industry and Trade (CAMIT), he said. Petrol pump owners are now awaiting a response from the government.
Gupta added that digital transactions at fuel outlets will only resume if the government provides adequate assurance regarding protection against such cyber frauds.
"As per protocol, all related bank accounts are frozen once a probe into cyber fraud cases begins. If an individual believes they are not directly involved in the fraud, they can either challenge the action in court or submit a letter to the cyber cell," DCP Lohit Matani said.

GTA 6 trailer 2 shows Lucia attacked mid-heist on a plane, fans spot betrayal plot
Source: Rockstar Games Rockstar's second GTA 6 trailer has fueled intense fan speculation, especially about a high-stakes airplane scene involving Lucia. In seemingly an undercover heist mission, Lucia is brutally assaulted by a well-built gang member on a cargo plane. The gruesome scene, together with the recent leaks, has made fans speculate that this is possibly a betrayal twist within an even bigger airport robbery. Lucia's aerial battle suggests betrayal in undercover robbery In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment from GTA 6 trailer 2, Lucia is seen struggling against a large bodybuilder inside a plane's cargo hold. The scene ends with her being thrown hard against the open door of the wheel bay, raising serious questions about her safety and the mission's outcome. The attacker's size and aggression suggest she is not just an obstacle, but a key figure in what might be a deeper betrayal. Online commentators soon likened the action to set-piece cinematic moments within games such as Uncharted, drawing attention to Rockstar's move towards more choreographed set pieces. But it's the back-story that has most fans interested: leaks and theories suggest this is the set-piece for a heist that went wrong, where Lucia is double-crossed by her own crew in or after a robbery at an airport. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Leaked information and fan theory backs betrayal narrative As per leaked rumors, the operation entails Lucia infiltrating to execute a robbery inside the airport compound. But upon completion of the robbery, a group of bodybuilders, reported to be her temporary cohorts, betray her, and she is subjected to the explosive airplane assault witnessed in the teaser. This story is consistent with the overall themes of deception, changing allegiances, and survival which GTA 6 appears to be focused on. Fans have also noted the visual foreshadowing in the trailer, Lucia's undercover equipment, the plane scene, and the abrupt violence, all hinting at a climactic betrayal twist in her narrative. Although Rockstar hasn't confirmed any details about the plot, the population consensus is becoming increasingly loud with every rewatch. Lucia's aerial showdown in GTA 6 trailer 2 may be more than a showy action set piece, it could be a pivotal shift in her character development. If the betrayal rumors hold water, Rockstar is once more following through on its promise of gritty, unscripted storytelling in its most ambitious game to date. Despite May losses, bumper summer onion production this year in Nashik
Nashik: The summer onion production in Nashik district has shown a significant increase of 63% during the 2024-25 (Dec-April) season in comparison to the previous year. The state agriculture department reports that Nashik district's summer onion yield reached approximately 59 lakh tonnes in 2024-25, while the previous season (Dec-April of 2023-24) recorded 36 lakh tonnes. State agriculture department officials reported an increase in summer onion cultivation area from 1.4 lakh hectares in 2023-24 to 2.5 lakh hectares in 2024-25, with an average yield of 23.4 tonnes per hectare. Despite approximately 5% damage from May rainfall, the season produced abundant crops, ensuring an adequate supply until the next harvest in Oct. Unlike kharif and late kharif onions harvested between Oct and Feb, which deteriorate within a month, summer onions harvested in March-April maintain quality for six to seven months. This extended storage capability allows farmers to hold their produce and sell at APMCs when prices are favourable or when they require funds. The market relies on stored summer onions from May until mid-Oct, when fresh kharif crops arrive. Current wholesale price at the Lasalgaon APMC stands at Rs 1,600 per quintal, compared to Rs 1,500 per quintal during the same period last year. The expected wholesale price range is between Rs 1,400 and Rs 2,000 per quintal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New South Wales Pensioners Are Eligible For Invisible Hearing Aids Best Hearing Aids Undo "The cost of production for growing onions is around Rs 1,800 per quintal," states Bharat Dighole, the president of the Maharashtra Onion Growers' Association. With wholesale prices ranging between Rs 1,050 and Rs 1,600 per quintal over recent months, farmers face losses. Dighole advocated for a Rs 2,000 per quintal govt grant for farmers who sold their produce at a lower rate due to a drop in wholesale prices caused by faulty govt policies. Dighole further said Centre has already announced the procurement of 3 lakh tonnes under price stability funds to create a buffer stock through the central govt agencies — National Agricultural Co-operative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (Nafed) and the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India Limited (NCCF). "We want both the central govt agencies to procure onions directly from farmers at the APMCs at the price of Rs 3,000 per quintal," said Dighole. Shirdi's Saibaba Sansthan allows only flowers and garlands as offerings
Nashik: The Shree Saibaba Sansthan Trust in Shirdi has partially lifted its earlier restriction, now permitting devotees to offer flowers and garlands at the temple while maintaining restrictions on other items such as shawls and prasad. Sansthan CEO Gorakshanath Gadilkar said, "The committee has decided to allow flowers and garlands inside for offering. The temporary ban on various offerings was implemented on May 11 following threats of attack on the temple." The administration has set up new guidelines requiring devotees to present receipts from florists when bringing flowers or garlands into the temple. "Security personnel will verify these receipts. This will make it clear what items came from which florists, and at the same time, the receipts will also ensure the pilgrims are not duped," Gadilkar said. This measure addresses recent incidents where certain florists allegedly overcharged visitors, leading to formal police complaints. The new protocol aims to prevent such exploitation of devotees. The administration continues to uphold restrictions on prasad and shawl offerings until further notice. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Pinga-Pinga e HBP?
