Amal Clooney Was Dripping in Pearls at the 2025 Tony Awards

Elle10 hours ago

Amal Clooney was dripping in pearls at last night's Tony Awards. The human rights lawyer was there to accompany her husband, George Clooney, who was nominated for Best Leading Actor in a Play for his role in Good Night, and Good Luck.
The couple walked the red carpet at NYC's Radio City Music Hall and posed for photos. Amal wore an elegant strapless pearl-beaded white satin Tamara Ralph Haute Couture gown, and accessorized with a pearl clutch and white Roger Vivier pumps. George kept it classic in a black tuxedo.
George notably showed off his natural gray hair color after dyeing it jet black for the role. In a recent interview with Gayle King for CBS Mornings, he mentioned that Amal isn't the biggest fan of the darker look. 'My wife thinks it's funny,' he said, and his children 'laugh at it.'
He also spoke candidly about his marriage. 'Amal and I are having a really great time in life,' he told King. 'Our kids are seven, about to be eight, which is a pretty great age. They're really curious and funny. Every parent thinks their kids are great, but our kids are funny and they make us laugh. I remember when [Amal and I] were here with you once before, and I remember we said we'd never had an argument. We still haven't. We're trying to find something to fight about.'
He continued, 'I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have met this incredible woman, and I feel as if I hit the jackpot. And there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think I'm the luckiest man in the world. It's great.'

George Clooney shows off hair transformation at Tony Awards: 'I had to cut it out'

George Clooney is back to his silver fox self. The "Good Night, and Good Luck" star, who was nominated at the 78th annual Tony Awards on June 8, returned to his signature salt-and-pepper hairdo, as seen by Clooney's red-carpet appearance with wife Amal Clooney. The Oscar-winning actor had previously dyed his hair black for his starring role as CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow in the Broadway play. "I had to cut it all out with a weed whacker to get it all," Clooney told E! News. "That black hair dye, I had to cut it out. You can't color that." Despite the hairy ordeal, Clooney, 64, and Amal made a stylish splash on the Tony Awards carpet. The "ER" alum evoked Hollywood heartthrob vibes in a classic black-and-white tuxedo, while Amal, 47, stunned in a white, off-the-shoulder frock. The actor, who was up for best leading actor in a play for his portrayal of Murrow, joked about the lukewarm reception of his darker hair in an April interview with "CBS Mornings." Need a break? "Honestly, nothing makes you look older than being 63 and dyeing your hair." Just like the closing night of "Good Night, and Good Luck," which took place the same day as the Tonys, Clooney's brunette era was bound to have its final bow. The actor hinted at his hair transformation in a June 3 interview on "Late Night with Seth Meyers." "We do a matinee, and then by the time we go to the Tonys that night, it'll be gone," Clooney told Meyers. "I may have a shaved head."

'Harry Potter' actor stands by JK Rowling at Tony Awards amid criticism of her transgender views

"Harry Potter" actor Tom Felton defended JK Rowling at Sunday night's Tony Awards after being asked about the fierce liberal backlash she's received for her views on gender and biology. The British actor was on the red carpet at the awards show Sunday, where he was interviewed by Variety about reprising his film role as Draco Malfoy in the Broadway play, "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." The play, based off an original story co-authored by Rowling, takes place 19 years after the final "Harry Potter" novel. Felton was asked if the controversy surrounding Rowling's transgender views had affected his work at all, which he denied. Rowling has been a strong advocate for single-sex spaces for women and has repeatedly been labeled as transphobic by far-left activists. I'm not really that attuned to it," Felton said before praising the series' author. "And she's responsible for that, so I'm incredibly grateful." Felton previously expressed his admiration for the author in a 2022 interview as she faced criticism from transgender activists for her views. "I am quick to remind myself and others that 'Potter,' for some reason, has brought more people together across the world and more generations than probably anything else has in the past 20 years, and I'm quick to celebrate that," he told The Times of London in a 2022 interview. "It came from one person, and that's her, so I'm very grateful." Scott Pelley and Anderson Cooper Discuss CBS News' Potential Settlement With Donald Trump

On Saturday night, CNN aired a special live presentation of George Clooney's Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck to a global audience. After the performance, CNN anchor and 60 Minutes correspondent Anderson Cooper had a wide-ranging interview with fellow CBS News colleague Scott Pelley, who shared his thoughts regarding the Eye Network's potential settlement with President Donald Trump. Asked by Cooper if the network would be damaged should Trump successfully demand an apology as part of the settlement, Pelley replied: 'It will be very damaging to CBS, to Paramount, to the reputation of those companies.' 'You really wish the top echelons of the company would come out publicly and say, '60 Minutes is a crown jewel of American journalism, and we stand by it 100%,' Pelley added. 'I haven't heard that." Pelley noted that he hasn't any restrictions placed on his reporting by CBS News management or anyone from outside the network. 'while I would like to have that public backing, maybe the more important thing is the work is still getting on the air,' he mused. As CBS News' parent company, Paramount Global, awaits regulatory approval to complete its merger with Skydance Media this year, the network has faced political pressure from the Trump administration concerning its news content, particularly 60 Minutes. The fallout of this pressure led to the departures of former president and CEO Wendy McMahon and longtime 60 Minutes executive producer Bill Owens, who resigned from his position in April, citing a loss of journalistic independence. CNN's airing of Good Night, and Good Luck was the penultimate performance of the Tony-nominated play, with Clooney playing legendary CBS News broadcaster Edward R. Murrow during the McCarthy era. The network's 'pregame' special coverage was anchored by Pamlea Brown, joined by special guests of the Broadway production as well as the network's chief media analyst Brian Stelter.
