Report: Phoenix Raceway losing NASCAR Championship Weekend, but there's hope for future
NASCAR Championship Weekend in 2026 will not be at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, according to a report.
The venue has hosted the NASCAR title races since 2020, but The Athletic reported that the championship races will return to Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2026 for one year.

Homestead-Miami Speedway was the host of NASCAR Championship Weekend from 2002-19.
The Athletic report said that the title races will be held at Homestead-Miami Speedway only in 2026, with another track expected to be the host of the title weekend in 2027 to begin a rotation of sites.
The report said that Phoenix Raceway is "expected to be included in this rotation" for NASCAR Championship Weekend.
NASCAR has not yet commented on the report.
Driver Denny Hamlin previously threw his support behind a bigger role for Homestead-Miami Speedway in the NASCAR championship.
'I would certainly like to see (Homestead) play a bigger factor in our championship," Hamilton told motorsport.com. "Whether it's in the playoffs, just a part of the championship race or round, or whatever it might be, I'd like to see it be a part of that as, like we just talked about, the driver makes a bigger difference at this track compared to the car.'

There's only one Jordon Hudson confidant willing to talk about her — here's what he said
There have been many descriptors added to Jordon Hudson's name over the past 12 months as her relationship with Bill Belichick has come under intense scrutiny. For the lone Hudson confidant who has spoken publicly about the former college cheerleader, one label transcends new heights. 'I consider her a supernova,' celebrity hairstylist Dougie Freeman, who likened his one-time employee to the phenomenon described by NASA as the 'extremely bright, super powerful explosion of a star,' said in a new interview with The Athletic. Advertisement Hudson, who shot to fame in the summer of 2024 when her romance with the 73-year-old Belichick became public, began working at Freeman's West End Salon & Spa in Provincetown, Mass., when she was still in high school. 5 Dougie Freeman worked with Jordon Hudson. Facebook/West End Salon and Spa Freeman believes the Massachusetts town, regarded as one of the most welcoming and friendly LGBTQ+ locales in the country, helped to broaden Hudson's horizons. 'Growing up in this town, she saw how alternative relationships work. They can work,' Freeman said. 'I think that validated it for her.' Advertisement Freeman is one of the few connected to Hudson who has opened up about the Miss Maine USA contestant, with The Athletic noting the 'dozen-plus friends of Hudson' whom they reached out to did not get back to the outlet. 5 Jordon Hudson's profile has continued to rise amid her relationship with Bill Belichick. WireImage 'She seems to be doing fine,' said Freeman, who 'last spoke to Hudson via a series of internet DMs,' per The Athletic. 'She said, 'I understand you're going to do an interview with the Washington Post.' And I said, 'I said a lot of nice things about you, I think you'll be pleased with it.' And I assume she was.' Getty Images Although there has been much speculation about Hudson's role in Chapel Hill — much of which began after a disastrous 'CBS Sunday Morning' appearance in April, when she punted a question about the origins of the Belichick relationship — the eight-time Super Bowl winner clarified her position in an ESPN interview last month. 'That's really off to the side, it's a personal relationship. She doesn't have anything to do with UNC football,' Belichick said. With the Tar Heels' season opener against TCU approaching on Sept. 1, all eyes remain on Belichick and Hudson — something Freeman cautioned as her star continues to rise. 'Fame comes with some barbs,' he said. 'And it doesn't always come with fortune.' Hudson and Belichick first crossed paths aboard a flight in 2021. They celebrated their four-year meet-iversary in February.

Ex-NASCAR star Danica Patrick sounds off on trans athlete debate amid Simone Biles-Riley Gaines feud
Former NASCAR Cup Series star Danica Patrick added her two cents after Simone Biles fired off a personal attack against Riley Gaines in social media posts. Biles called out Gaines after the former All-American NCAA swimmer criticized Minnesota high school softball officials for turning off comments on a post celebrating the team that won the state championship with a transgender girl pitcher. Patrick wrote on Instagram on Sunday that she believed "common sense will prevail." "But until then, I am grateful for people like Riley Gaines who are making sure no one gets away with it. Not to mention the fact that she actually lived it," she wrote, via the New York Post. "Defending men in women's sports is the woke mind virus and/or another issue that requires therapy. Either way, it is so irrational." Biles sparked the feud with Gaines on Friday night. "@Riley_Gaines_ You're truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up sore loser," Biles wrote on X. "You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! "But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!" Gaines responded to Biles' attack. "This is so disappointing. My take is the least controversial take on the planet," Gaines wrote in response to Biles' post. "Simone Biles being a male-apologist at the expense of young girls' dreams? Didn't have that on my bingo card. "Maybe she could compete in pommel horse and rings in 2028."
