(AP Photo/John Locher, file) NEW YORK (AP) — Michael Jordan is joining NBC Sports as a special contributor to its NBA coverage when the 2025-26 season begins. NBC made the announcement on Monday morning during its upfront presentation at Radio City Music Hall previewing the networks offerings during the upcoming television season. Advertisement 'I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,' Jordan said during a video message. 'The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I'm excited about being a special contributor to the project. I'm looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October.' NBC returns to carrying the NBA after a 23-year absence. It had NBA rights from 1990 through 2002 and carried all six of Jordan's championships as a member of the Chicago Bulls. This is the first time Jordan has joined a network. His appearances and comments during the 2020 'The Last Dance' documentary about his career and the end of the Bulls dynasty in 1998 created plenty of headlines. 'Michael's legacy both on and off the court speaks for itself,' NBC Sports President Rick Cordella said. 'We're incredibly proud to have him join our coverage.' NBC and Peacock will also launch 'Sunday Night Basketball' in January. ___ AP NBA:

Report: Phoenix Raceway losing NASCAR Championship Weekend, but there's hope for future
NASCAR Championship Weekend in 2026 will not be at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, according to a report. The venue has hosted the NASCAR title races since 2020, but The Athletic reported that the championship races will return to Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2026 for one year. Advertisement Homestead-Miami Speedway was the host of NASCAR Championship Weekend from 2002-19. The Athletic report said that the title races will be held at Homestead-Miami Speedway only in 2026, with another track expected to be the host of the title weekend in 2027 to begin a rotation of sites. The report said that Phoenix Raceway is "expected to be included in this rotation" for NASCAR Championship Weekend. NASCAR has not yet commented on the report. Driver Denny Hamlin previously threw his support behind a bigger role for Homestead-Miami Speedway in the NASCAR championship. 'I would certainly like to see (Homestead) play a bigger factor in our championship," Hamilton told "Whether it's in the playoffs, just a part of the championship race or round, or whatever it might be, I'd like to see it be a part of that as, like we just talked about, the driver makes a bigger difference at this track compared to the car.' 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds: Kyle Larson on the move after Bristol
Print Close Published April 15, 2025 The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season heads to Talladega on April 27 for the Jack Link's 500 on FOX. And fans and bettors are diving into championship futures. Christopher Bell's streak — which included wins at Atlanta, COTA and Phoenix — moved him to the top of the oddsboard, with his line getting as short as +330. He's currently sitting at +450. Now, the driver with the shortest odds to win the Cup is Kyle Larson at +300. His odds shortened from +400 after his win at Bristol. Larson was also the favorite at the end of February before taking a backseat to Bell for a few weeks. A driver to keep watching is Denny Hamlin, whose odds to win it all surged to +600 from +1100 after getting back-to-back wins at Martinsville and Darlington. Let's dive into the odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of April 15, with insight from Bob Pockrass. 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Championship Kyle Larson : +300 (bet $10 to win $40 total) Christopher Bell : +450 (bet $10 to win $55 total) Denny Hamlin : +600 (bet $10 to win $70 total) Ryan Blaney : +650 (bet $10 to win $75 total) William Byron : +700 (bet $10 to win $80 total) Tyler Reddick : +900 (bet $10 to win $100 total) Chase Elliott : +1000 (bet $10 to win $110 total) Joey Logano : +1400 (bet $10 to win $150 total) Ross Chastain : +2800 (bet $10 to win $290 total) Chase Briscoe : +2800 (bet $10 to win $290 total) Josh Berry: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total) Alex Bowman : +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total) Kyle Busch : +3500 (bet $10 to win $360 total) Chris Buescher : +4000 (bet $10 to win $410 total) Bubba Wallace : +4500 (bet $10 to win $460 total) Ty Gibbs : +4500 (bet $10 to win $460 total) Austin Cindric : +5000 (bet $10 to win $510 total) Brad Keselowski : +7500 (bet $10 to win $760 total) Carson Hocevar : +10000 (bet $10 to win $1,010 total) Ryan Preece: +12000 (bet $10 to win $1,210 total) Daniel Suarez : +15000 (bet $10 to win $1,510 total) Shane van Gisbergen : +20000 (bet $10 to win $2,010 total) Todd Gilliland : +25000 (bet $10 to win $2,510 total) Noah Gragson : +25000 (bet $10 to win $2,510 total) Justin Haley : +25000 (bet $10 to win $2,510 total) Austin Dillon : +25000 (bet $10 to win $2,510 total) AJ Allmendinger : +25000 (bet $10 to win $2,510 total) Ricky Stenhouse Jr. : +30000 (bet $10 to win $3,010 total) Michael McDowell : +30000 (bet $10 to win $3,010 total) Erik Jones : +30000 (bet $10 to win $3,010 total) Cole Custer: +30000 (bet $10 to win $3,010 total) Zane Smith: +30000 (bet $10 to win $3,010 total) John Hunter Nemechek : +50000 (bet $10 to win $5,010 total) Ty Dillon : +50000 (bet $10 to win $5,010 total) 2025 Season Total Race Wins (as of Jan. 29) AJ AllmendingerOver 0.5: +110 Under 0.5: -140 Carson HocevarOver 0.5: +150 Under 0.5: -190 Chase ElliottOver 1.5: -135 Under 1.5: -105 Christopher BellOver 3.5: -110 Under 3.5: -125 Denny HamlinOver 3.5: +110 Under 3.5: -150 Kyle BuschOver 1.5: +110 Under 1.5: -140 Kyle LarsonOver 5.5: +100 Under 5.5: -135 Michael McDowellOver 0.5: +125 Under 0.5: -165 Ryan BlaneyOver 2.5: -175 Under 2.5: +135 Shane Van GisbergenOver 1.5: -140 Under 1.5: +110 Ty GibbsOver 0.5: -140 Under 0.5: +110 Tyler ReddickOver 3.5: +125 Under 3.5: -165 William ByronOver 3.5: -115 Under 3.5: -115 Check out this preseason expert insight from FOX Sports motorsports insider Bob Pockrass, as of Jan. 29. Championship Predictions: The best bets to win the 2025 Cup Series title? If experience and history mean anything, Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney will be the drivers to beat when it comes down to the finale at Phoenix Raceway. Blaney won the title in 2023 and arguably had the fastest car in the 2024 championship race but got mired in a little bit of traffic on a late restart and couldn't rally enough to beat teammate Joey Logano. Team Penske has won three consecutive titles (Logano in 2022 and 2024 and Blaney in 2023) and appears to have found an edge in making speed at Phoenix. Also, with it possibly the last year for the championship to be in Phoenix, Blaney will be looking to capitalize at a track where he seemingly is one to beat. Larson won the 2021 title and earned a series-high six victories in 2024. He didn't make the championship round last year but like Blaney, is a driver who consistently finds a little more speed. He admits that Penske has the advantage with the finale at Phoenix, but Hendrick Motorsports still has the entire season to make gains on its short-track program. And a potential softer tire for the championship race potentially could cut into the gap between Penske and the rest of the field. Race Win Total Predictions: Busch came inches away from winning two races last year. Getting those inches back seems so close and yet so far away. He could just as easily win three races as he could no races. In his first full season, van Gisbergen will win a Cup race on a road course. He should win two, but the rigors of a 38-race schedule and the precision needed from not just him, but his team could keep him from having multiple wins in 2025. Gibbs has been on the brink of victory several times in his first three years. More likely than not, he will get that first Cup triumph this season. Reddick is hitting his prime as a Cup driver. But he's never had more than three victories in one season and while three again seems attainable, a fourth is iffy. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
