CCTV+: The 6th Zhijiang(China) International Peace Culture Festival to Open on September 4
Since 2003, Zhijiang has successfully hosted five sessions of the Zhijiang( China ) International Peace Culture Festival, attracting over 80 national dignitaries, more than 300 Flying Tigers veterans and their families, historical witnesses, and over 1,000 peace advocates. These festivals have served as a platform for global discussions on peace. During these events, Zhijiang signed 92 trade and economic cooperation agreements with both domestic and international businesses, fostering dialogue and collaboration with global partners. To date, Zhijiang has established sister-city relationships with Grandcamp Maisy in France , Pinehurst in North Carolina, USA , and Kirovsk in Russia . In 2021, Zhijiang was designated as the 307 th International City of Peace.
Buildings featuring the peace culture can be seen everywhere in Zhijiang, including Taihe Tower , Peace Bridge, Peace Theater, Peace Power Station, Peace Avenue, and Peace Square, deeply embedding the spirit of peace into its very fabric. Zhijiang has created a series of online and offline initiatives for the younger generation, such as the Flying Tigers Friendship School & Youth Leadership Program, the "Chinese Bridge" Flying Tigers Summer Camp, Cultural Experience Week, and Youth Exchange Camp. These programs empower young people to become vital ambassadors in preserving historical friendships and fostering international exchanges. Zhijiang, nurtured by the peace culture, is embracing the world with an increasingly open attitude, contributing wisdom and strength to building a community with a shared future for humanity.
From September 4 to 5, 2025 , the 6 th Zhijiang( China ) International Peace Culture Festival and the JOY Heyball Masters will be grandly held in Zhijiang. ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistan and China pledged to expand economic cooperation and investment under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a flagship program of China's Belt and Road Initiative, officials said. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Thursday. The two sides agreed to launch new projects through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, or CPEC, a flagship program of the Belt and Road Initiative, a Pakistani government statement said. The countries did not immediately share details of the proposed projects. Called 'One Belt, One Road' in Chinese, the Belt and Road Initiative has built power plants, roads, railroads and ports around the world and deepened China's relations with Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Mideast. It is a major part of Chinese President Xi Jinping's push for China to play a larger role in global affairs. Beijing has invested billions of dollars in Pakistan through CPEC, building roads, power plants and rail links to connect China's western Xinjiang region with the Arabian Sea port of Gwadar in southwest Pakistan, where some Chinese have been attacked by insurgents in recent years. The foreign ministers vowed to deepen collaboration in science, technology, industry and agriculture. Wang also urged Pakistan to ensure the safety of Chinese workers and engineers, who have come under attack by separatists in Balochistan province and elsewhere in recent years. Pakistan already has increased security for Chinese working on CPEC-related projects. China has long been one of Pakistan's key ally and financial backer, especially as Islamabad struggles with a prolonged economic crisis. Saskatchewan Premier, federal minister set to meet on China canola tariff
Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe is set to meet today with federal Agriculture Minister Heath MacDonald, along with industry groups, to discuss the steep Chinese tariff on Canadian canola seed. Kody Blois, the parliamentary secretary for Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister Daryl Harrison are also to attend the meeting in Saskatoon. A press conference is scheduled following the discussion. Opinion: China's canola tariffs are a dangerous trap China imposed the tariff of nearly 76 per cent last week, causing the price of one of Canada's most valuable crops to fall and wiping out millions of dollars in its value. It comes one year after China launched an anti-dumping investigation into Canadian canola, a move in response to Canada's 100 per cent tariff on Chinese electric vehicles. Farmers and Ottawa have rejected the dumping claim, saying exporters have followed rules-based trade.
