The Chicago Sky have struggled to start the WNBA season.
Chicago is led by first-year head coach Tyler Marsh. They began the season with a 0-4 record, tying worst first start to a season in franchise history.

Marsh took over for Teresa Weatherspoon, who served as the head coach of the Chicago Sky for the 2024 season, Angel Reese's rookie year.
As the Sky turned the page to a new chapter for the organization, Marsh was looking to help them take a leap forward with Reese and several other established stars such as Courtney Vandersloot.
Vandersloot was playing in her first season back with the Sky, after competing with the New York Liberty last year, helping the Eastern Conference team win the WNBA Finals.
While she had a solid start to the season, making a return to the team that once drafted her, Vandersloot was hit with a major blow.

During the 79-52 loss to the Indiana Fever, Vandersloot went down with an injury. She was helped to the locker room and didn't return to the floor.
After further evaluation, the Sky announced that Vandersloot has torn her ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.
Upon the release of the announcement, Angel Reese took to social media, sending a message to Vandersloot.
"Love you 22," Reese said.

On Sunday, the Chicago Sky posted the official diagnosis and potential timeline, less than 24 hours after she suffered the injury against the Fever.
"Courtney Vandersloot underwent an MRI yesterday that revealed a right torn anterior crucial ligament (ACL), an injury she sustained in the June 7th game against Indiana," posted the official social media account of the Chicago Sky. "Vandersloot will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season and undergo surgery to repair the injury. All of Skytown is behind you Sloot."

Courtney Vandersloot began her career with the Chicago Sky in 2011. She played 12 seasons with the Sky before her two-year stint with the New York Liberty.

Caitlin Clark will miss 5th game with quad strain but could soon start 'ramping back up'
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Caitlin Clark will sit out a fifth consecutive game with a quadriceps strain when Indiana visits Atlanta on Tuesday, shifting the focus to whether the Fever star will return against the WNBA champion New York Liberty. Indiana coach Stephanie White stopped short Monday of saying Clark had been cleared for basketball activities, saying the club was ready for the reigning Rookie of the Year to start 'ramping back up.' The Fever initially said Clark would miss at least two weeks, and it has been 16 days since Clark was injured in a 90-88 loss to the Liberty. She finished the game, saying later adrenaline likely allowed her to play with the strain. Clark told reporters last week she was targeting a Tuesday return, but said she wouldn't rush it. White reiterated the patience part Monday. The rematch with the Liberty isn't until Saturday at home, which should give Clark some decent practice time. 'We're going to be smart, and we're going to be cautious and we're going to play the long game and work her back in very intentionally,' White said. Clark is averaging 19 points, 9.3 assists and six rebounds in four games this season. This is the first time in her college or pro career that she's missed games. She averaged 19.2 points and a WNBA-leading 8.4 assists as a rookie. The Fever are also without guard Sophie Cunningham, who has been limited to four games by ankle injury. White ruled out Cunningham against the Dream. ___ AP WNBA:

WNBA Commissioner's Cup: Where things stand as Seattle Storm, Indiana Fever aim to make a championship game push in Week 2
A week into WNBA Commissioner's Cup play, familiar names have taken an early lead in the yearly event that results in an extra payday for WNBA players. Here's what you need to know about where things stand one week in. Starting in 2021, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert started the event that designates certain games early in the season as Cup games. In five games for each team against their conference rivals, teams can earn points based on wins, losses and point differential. The top teams from the Eastern and Western conferences will then face off on July 1. Each player from the winning team will earn an extra $30,000, while the losing team's players will win $10,000 each. Advertisement For the last two seasons, the Commissioner's Cup has been a preview of the WNBA Finals. The New York Liberty won it over the Aces in 2023, while the Minnesota Lynx won it against the Liberty in 2024. Notably, the team that lost those Cup championships ended up winning the WNBA title. Who are the early leaders in the Commissioner's Cup? Much like with the overall WNBA standings, the New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx are at the top of the Eastern and Western conference standings, respectively. Neither team has lost a game yet this season. The two teams, which became very familiar with each other last season, seem destined for another clash. Advertisement However, the fun thing about the Cup is that teams that didn't start the season off as well as they might have liked can get a new beginning. The Indiana Fever are 4-4 overall this season, but 2-0 in the Cup. If they can get Caitlin Clark back soon — she is "ramping back up," but won't play against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday — the Fever could throw a wrench into the Liberty's run to win the Cup. What are the key games to watch this week? The week ahead features two major matchups that could have Cup implications: Minnesota Lynx vs. Seattle Storm: Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on League Pass These two teams don't need the Cup to make their games must-watch. The two franchises are tied for WNBA championships and have been pushing each other toward greatness for as long as they've existed. With the current teams, you have two of the league's best leaders on and off the court in Seattle's Nneka Ogwumike and Minnesota's Napheesa Collier facing off, and two of the league's best trash talkers in Seattle's Skylar Diggins and Minnesota's Courtney Williams. Not to mention Collier is an MVP front-runner. Advertisement New York Liberty vs. Indiana Fever: Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on ABC Their first match-up felt like a playoff game, with New York taking the win after the game ended on a play the Fever called a foul. (The referees didn't agree.) The rematch is even more important as it could decide who will play for the Commissioner's Cup. We won't know if Clark will play in the game until later this week, but either way, it should be a thrilling matchup at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday. Commissioner's Cup games will continue through June 17, with the Cup championship on July 1.

Caitlin Clark injury update: Fever coach reveals star's status for Atlanta Dream
Caitlin Clark injury update: Fever coach reveals star's status for Atlanta Dream Show Caption Hide Caption What Stephanie White said about Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham status Fever coach Stephanie White provides update on Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham status. Those hoping for the return of Caitlin Clark will have to wait a little bit longer. The Indiana Fever had a health update on their star's immediate status after Clark was back at practice ahead of Tuesday's game against Atlanta Dream, which was slated to be the earliest date for her return based on the initial prognosis. Coach Stephanie White confirmed to reporters that Clark has made progress since suffering a left quad injury two weeks ago, but the team is still "going to be cautious" with her. Clark has already missed four consecutive games after suffering the injury May 24 against the Liberty. The Fever have a 2-2 record without her in the lineup this season. They beat the Chicago Sky, 79-52, in their most recent outing. Here's everything to know about Clark's status for Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Dream, including the latest comments from Clark and White on the injury recovery process: STAR POWER: Caitlin Clark's new line of Wilson basketballs reflect who she is off the court Is Caitlin Clark playing Tuesday vs Atlanta Dream? No. White told reporters after practice Monday that Clark is expected to miss her fifth consecutive game while recovering from a left quad injury. White said that while both Clark and fellow injured Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham have returned to practice, the team wants to make sure they are in basketball shape before returning to a WNBA regular-season game. "It's one thing to do some shooting drills. It's another thing to get out there on the floor, get into movement patterns, rhythm, timing," White said, according to the Indianapolis Star, part of the USA TODAY Sports Network. "… so picking and choosing the things they can be in in practice, so we can see their progression. Both of them being out for long periods of time, you've got to work your way into being game ready." The next possible chance for Clark to return from injury is Saturday, June 14 vs. the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty. Caitlin Clark injury update Clark suffered a left quad strain during the Fever's 90-88 loss to the New York Liberty on May 24, but the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year said she doesn't know the specific play that caused her injury. She only knows it happened early in the contest. She got an MRI upon feeling pain after the game that revealed her left quad strain. The Fever initially announced Clark would be sidelined for at least two weeks, meaning the earliest she could return to the lineup would be Tuesday's game at the Atlanta Dream. Clark said last week there was a "possibility" for her to return then, but added that she wouldn't "rush back if it's not worth it." "We're trying not to put an exact date out there, because it is kind of a day-by-day thing and see how I feel," Clark said Thursday. "It's the type of injury, like, you don't know. When I wake up, I'll feel different than the day before. We'll see." White added more context to Clark's outlook when asked Monday if Clark had been medically cleared for basketball activities after team doctors re-evaluated her during the weekend. "I don't know if cleared is the right word," the Fever coach said. "We're ready to start ramping back up and make sure. It's completely different when you're doing one-on-one workouts and when you're out there in five-on-five getting up-and-down the floor, moving laterally. So she's been allowed to do some practicing, not everything, and we're going to be smart. We're going to be cautious, and we're going to play the long game and work her back in very intentionally."
