5 most expensive homes for sale in Oakland County, from sprawling estates to custom builds

Yahoo15-03-2025

Luxury properties are spread throughout metro Detroit, with Oakland County being home to some of the most expensive listings.
According to data from Realcomp II, which tracks real estate information, the priciest property currently on the market is listed at $13 million. This figure excludes private listings, which can sometime command even higher prices.
Homes in this price range are typically expansive, often exceeding 10,000 square feet of living space. They are commonly situated on sprawling estates, waterfront properties or designed as custom-built retreats. Many feature first-floor primary bedrooms and offer extensive entertainment amenities within the home or steps away in private outdoor settings.
In 2024, Michigan's highest-priced single-family home sales ranged from $5.05 million to $7 million, reflecting the demand for high-end properties.
Here's a look at five of the most luxurious and expensive homes currently on the market in Oakland County:
Address: 2756 Turtle Bluff Drive, Bloomfield Township
Size: 17,000 square feet

The home has custom moldings, imported marble, and intricate mosaic walls. Outdoor amenities include covered terraces, stone patios, a pool, a jacuzzi, outdoor fireplaces, and beautifully landscaped gardens. There's an eight-car garage and a car wash station.
What the agent says: Sheel Sohal, KW Doman in Birmingham described the estate as "a true masterpiece, blending timeless imported materials with modern amenities. Set on an expansive estate with breathtaking Turtle Lake views, an entertainer's dream layout, and resort-style outdoor spaces." He also noted that "this home offers the rare opportunity to acquire an adjacent lot — providing endless possibilities for outdoor enjoyment, expansion, or recreation. What the agent says: Christine Drinkwater of @properties Christie's International Real Estate in Birmingham highlighted shifting trends in home design since the pandemic. 'I think post-COVID, all homebuyers look at how they use and live in their home differently from that experience," Drinkwater said. "Luxury homebuyers value their home as not only a source of retreat but as a lifestyle experience and want all comfortable features, conveniences, and amenities included. Ease of living and entertaining is important.'
She added that this property will be the epitome of 'quality of life experience' that today's buyers are seeking. 'There is a pent-up demand for new construction in all markets, including the ultra-luxury market, Drinkwater said, noting that buyers today are increasingly willing to invest in turnkey homes.

Local barber brings big city feel to small town studio

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – A new barbershop in Boardman is looking to add some local barbers to the team. Kiernan Kiske opened the doors to Stylogarten Barber Studio March 1. Growing up in Poland, Kiernan Kiske wanted to be a tattoo artist, but he could never find a place to learn. Eventually, he got tired of his desk job and took a leap, applying to barber school. 'At that time, the only one around was in Niles — Raphael's, and so that was whenever I quit my job the day that I signed up. I never really thought about cutting hair, but I was like, let's give it a shot,' Kiske said. From that point on, Kiske fell in love with cutting hair. Starting in 2020, he spent five years in a space with other artists until this March, when he opened his own studio — Stylogarten on Market Street. 'I wanted to create my own space. I'd collect a lot of art, Italian glass, very much in arts and culture. I thought that would be my first step into trying to curate a spot that doesn't necessarily look like a barbershop, a traditional barbershop,' Kiske said. Kiske says he loves the freedom of self-employment, and he was excited to bring his own style to the new studio. 'I had this spot open up, and it kind of just seemed to be the perfect timing. I was ready to expand, and my clientele was growing a lot, so I was like, maybe I need a bigger space. Maybe I could start bringing on some other guys who see the same vision as me,' Kiske said. Stylogarten has five open spots that Kiske is looking to fill with local barbers over the next two years. Though the walls of his studio are lined with a wide variety of paintings and decor, he's keeping those five booths empty so any new barbers can bring their own touch to the studio. 'I am trying to make it way more personalized for barbers where they could really make their own hours as long as they're staying consistent. I give them their booth. If they want to add lighting, add lighting. If they want to put up art, put up art. It's yours,' Kiske said. Kiske says he's not only looking for seasoned barbers, but he's willing to use his eight years of experience as a mentor. 'I have five spots open. I would love to have some cool barbers here that kind of see the vision that I'm going for, kind of giving a big city feel to the small town,' he said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Group protests Congressman Rulli's stance on issues and bill

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Protesters gathered at a Valley grocery store Wednesday, demonstrating about Congressman Michael Rulli's votes on some issues and President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill. It was one of many protests being held by constituents outside Rulli Brothers grocery stores. This time, the protest is in Austintown. About 40 people have been outside the store since about 3 p.m. They're calling for Congressman Rulli to hold a town hall meeting with constituents while he is in town, and are also concerned with his stance on some issues. Among their concerns are cuts being made in Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, especially to Medicare and Medicaid. This protest comes on the same day that Congressman Rulli introduced the Gambler Act in Congress to address the border crisis, which seeks to allocate money from the US Treasury towards ICE operations. The money will specifically come from gambling tax revenue The act would receive a $300 million fund each year from the treasury. Rulli says the act will strengthen immigration enforcement without raising taxes on citizens. Rulli Brothers issued a statement about the protests: For 108 years Rulli Bros has proudly served the Mahoning Valley as a retailer of groceries and Italian specialties. During that history we have contributed to the local community and economy by providing customers with goods at competitive prices, creating countless jobs, procuring goods from local vendors, and generating local tax revenues that directly benefit the community. We greatly appreciate all our customers, vendors, and employees who represent the political diversity of the Valley. All are welcome at Rulli Bros., left, right, and center as we continue to serve the Valley to the best of our ability. Rulli Bros. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
