Missing person's body found in north GA; person of interest arrested
A man identified as a person of interest in a missing person's death was captured after a brief chase in northern Georgia.

The Stephens County Sheriff's Office said Lee Daffin surrendered to officers Wednesday and was transported to Rockdale County, where he is charged with aggravated assaults and terroristic threats and acts.
The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office said more charges may be added.
Habersham County deputies contacted Rockdale County officials, advising them their investigators found a body past the end of Carpenter's Cover Lane in Cornelia. Habersham investigators said they believed the crime occurred in Rockdale County.
Rockdale County deputies had conducted a welfare check Tuesday at a home on Bethel Road in Conyers, but they were unable to find the person reported missing. The following day, investigators said they received information that led them to believe there was foul play.
Daffin was apprehended after the SCSO was notified he may be traveling through there on the way to the Carolinas.

Man killed in shooting near Southside restaurant Copeland's Wednesday afternoon: JSO
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was shot and killed on the Southside Wednesday afternoon. When Action News Jax arrived at the scene outside of Copeland's restaurant Wednesday afternoon, there were more than ten JSO vehicles on scene, with the entire perimeter blocked off. [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks] JSO said it responded to the scene around 2 P.M., where officers found a man in his late 30s with one gunshot wound to the chest. Employees from a coffee shop next door told Action News Jax that they heard multiple gunshots while in the parking lot just before police arrived. The man was reportedly taken to a nearby hospital by fire rescue, but did not survive. JSO said Wednesday evening that its investigation revealed the man was there for a meeting of some kind. Three people of interest were detained for interviews, but it's unclear if any of them were the shooter. JSO said it was still looking for one vehicle of interest, a black four-door car that may be a Nissan. The car left the parking lot and drove southbound on Southside Boulevard. ‘She was cold to the touch'; Man says he tried to save 1-month-old baby found dead in hotel room
Neighbors said they found a 1-month-old baby girl unresponsive inside a DeKalb County hotel room on June 4. The baby's mother is facing charges. 'This is ridiculous for somebody to hurt a child like that,' the hotel maintenance worker told Channel 2's Audrey Washington. He asked his name not be used in the report. 'It's just sad that it happened. I hate that happened,' witness Tyrone Stewart said. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] People at the DeKalb County hotel said they first heard the screams before they rushed in to help the baby in hotel room 106. 'Help, help, my baby's not breathing,' one woman said she heard. The maintenance worker recounted how he and his partner tried to save the baby. 'She was doing CPR on the baby. The baby didn't look like it was alive and it was cold,' the maintenance worker said. Washington obtained exclusive video of the response effort. According to the criminal warrant, the 1-month-old baby girl had been dead for hours. She suffered a fractured skull and bruising to the face. The warrant also stated that inside the hotel room were two other children, a 7-year-old, and a 1-year-old. Stewart said the surviving children were in bad shape. 'They looked like they were homeless. They needed, you know needed help,' said Stewart. The mother of the children, 25-year-old Tamara Salter, is accused of leaving all three children alone. Salter is charged with felony murder, three counts of reckless conduct and child cruelty, authorities said. The maintenance worker said Salter left her children alone before. 'We gave her a warning then. We said, 'You cannot leave these kids alone. If you need help, ask for help,'' he said. 'Being a father, it's hard to see any child hurt, and that one, it was so little,' he said. It's still unclear how the baby got hurt. At last check, Salter is still in custody. Joseph McClarin and Covington Ofc. Hobbs received a call from the local CVS. McClarin and Hobbs met a couple facing more than just a difficult moment.
