Seattle driver plummets off multi-story parking garage, 77-year-old rescued

A man in his 70s is recovering from a rare type of crash in Seattle Sunday.
This morning, police say he drove off a parking garage, landing in his neighbor's patio.
Investigations continue as to the cause of the crash.
SEATTLE - A 77-year-old man is in the hospital on Sunday after crashing onto someone's patio at a Lower Queen Anne apartment complex.
First responders rescued the elderly man from his vehicle after it went over the edge of a multi-level parking structure in Seattle, calling this type of crash "rare."
Just before 10 a.m. on Apr. 6, authorities announced they were responding to the scene in the area of Valley Street and 1st Ave. North.
"We know there was a significant amount of speed because he went over a low barrier and then a railing before he flipped his vehicle onto the patio," said Detective Bruan Pritchard with the Seattle Police Department.
The man, a resident of the building where the crash happened, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.

Who is Travis Decker? What to know about the Wenatchee, WA father wanted for murder
The Brief Three young Wenatchee girls, ages 5, 8, and 9, were found dead on Monday after being reported missing since Friday, May 30, following a planned visitation with their father, Travis Decker. Authorities are currently searching for Travis Decker, 32, who is wanted for three counts of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping; he is a former military member with extensive training and may pose a significant risk if approached. The girls' bodies were discovered near the Rock Island Campground, accessed by Icicle Road, after Decker's unoccupied white 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck was located in the area. WENATCHEE, Wash. - Authorities are searching for the father of three young Wenatchee girls, ages 5, 8, and 9, after they were found dead on Monday. Travis Decker, 32, is wanted for three counts of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. Decker is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark shorts. According to authorities, he is a former military member with extensive training. FOX 13 Seattle confirmed with a spokesperson with the Washington National Guard that Decker was a member. He transferred to the organization in 2021 from the Active Component – and has been pending a disciplinary discharge for not showing up to his monthly drills. The last drill he attended was about a year ago. Travis Decker shows up in several social media posts from current and past members of the armed forces. Based on FOX 13 Seattle's review of those accounts and other social media profiles, Decker likely has advanced infantry combat training. Multiple Facebook and Instagram posts show Decker show he was an airborne paratrooper who earned his elite 'Ranger' tab – meaning he has elite wilderness evasion and survival skills. A different social media profile under his name claims he qualified as an instructor at the US Army's National Guard Warrior Training Center at Fort Benning, Georgia. Authorities are still searching for Decker. It is unknown whether he is currently armed, and he may pose a significant risk if approached. Anyone who believes they may have seen Decker since Friday, May 30, or knows his current whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately. Due to safety concerns, the public is advised not to attempt to contact or approach Decker. The three girls, ages 9, 8, and 5, were reported missing on Friday, May 30, at 9:45 p.m., after their mother told police they had not been returned following a planned visitation with Decker. Decker was believed to be living out of a white 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck, Washington license D20165C. Officers immediately began searching for Decker and the children. Checks of local motels yielded no results, and information from the local Flock database indicated the vehicle had traveled westbound on Highway 2 from Wenatchee on May 30. On Monday, June 2, resources including Chelan County deputies, detectives, Emergency Management, and a Homeland Security helicopter joined the search. At approximately 3:45 p.m., a Chelan County deputy located Decker's unoccupied vehicle near the Rock Island Campground, accessed by Icicle Road. During an immediate search of the area, the bodies of the three missing girls were discovered. Decker was not located. The Washington State Patrol was contacted Friday night to request an AMBER Alert, but it did not meet the required criteria. On Saturday, Wenatchee Police detectives provided additional information, and an Endangered Missing Person Alert (EMPA) was issued. Cleanup continues after driver went airborne, smashes through 2 Burien, WA homes
The Brief A high-speed crash on Memorial Day in Burien damaged two homes, with a car going airborne and crashing through walls. The Kollasch family and their neighbors are cleaning up debris and have started fundraisers to aid recovery efforts. The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken into custody. BURIEN, Wash. - It was another day of cleanup at two homes damaged in a high-speed crash on Memorial Day in Burien. Mark Kollasch gave FOX 13 crews a tour of the damage at his home, and it still looks like a bomb went off. After the crash Monday, workers had to lift the car from the wreckage of two homes. "Happy Memorial Day, yeah," said Kollasch. Mark Kollasch says the long holiday weekend turned into a nightmare after a driver was accused of going airborne at a nearby intersection, crashing straight through his house. "Like 'Dukes of Hazard' to the extreme." Kollasch says the driver first sailed through the sun room. "Our dining room table was right here," said Kollasch. "Didn't hit the floor, there are no tire marks on the floor, it's just crazy," said Kollasch. The sedan flew so high, it also cleared much of the couple's furniture. "Our bed is this high, and he like flew over the bed," he said. Kollasch says the car blasted through two exterior and three interior walls, finally shooting out the other side and into the neighbor's house. "The guy still had enough force to crush their water tank and the washer-dryer," he said. "Most of the car was in there," said Kollasch, pointing to a back corner of his neighbor's house. "The whole corner of his house is gone." On Monday, crews continued cleaning up the drywall and debris. "The frames are ruined but a lot of the pictures we had up aren't ruined," said Kollasch. They also picked the family's possessions from the rubble, which will be stored somewhere else for the time being. "It's going to be our ten-year wedding anniversary this August," said Kollasch, pointing to a wedding photo that was salvaged. The Kollasch family started an online fundraiser to help them recover. "We had to buy new clothes, and it's just hard to even think about," said Kollasch. Friends of his neighbor started a separate fundraiser to help their family recover from the disaster as well. The Kollasch family is staying with friends currently. They are planning to rent in the short term, and may make a permanent move one day. "It's like the trauma of coming home to seeing this. It would be hard to feel safe even if it was rebuilt," said Kollasch. As for the man who was taken into custody, the King County Sheriff's Office says he's in his 20s and was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.
