Saturday, May 31 forecast: Quick hitting storm could bring rain tonight
The weekend is off to a great start! Sunny, mild, not windy. All good things! The skies, however, are a bit hazy from smoke created by wildfires in Southern Canada. Air quality is currently okay, but feel free to check AirNOW for further updates.

A small storm system is tracking through the Plains this evening and will bring rain and thunderstorms to parts of Kansas and Oklahoma. Spots near and west of Highway 65 in Missouri and Arkansas have a low risk of seeing any rain tonight, but it is possible. Rainfall totals are thankfully expected to stay on the lighter side for areas that see rain tonight.
Otherwise, tonight will be mild in the upper 50s to low 60s. Sunday will be warm in the 80s, and any clouds will be moving on by the morning. Skies may still be hazy on Sunday from wildfire smoke.
A south breeze returns on Monday and that should help remove some of the haze in the sky by Tuesday. Temperatures will stay warm in the low 80s on Monday and Tuesday.
Our next chance for rain and storms develops late Tuesday. This wave of thunderstorms may also produce a little severe weather. Rain chances will likely remain active through the work week.
Additional storms are lining up, and we could be dealing with another rainy weekend next week. The overall pattern in June will likely begin soggy, but end on more of a drier note as we get past the middle of the month. Fingers crossed!

Teen charged with murder in Frayser shooting, robbery
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 17-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder in an ambush-style shooting outside and robbery outside a Frayser shopping center Sunday afternoon. Surveillance video posted online showed a man leaving a tobacco store in the 2600 block of Frayser Boulevard when a man wearing a black hoodie and a ski mask suddenly appears, shoots the man, and runs off. MPD has identified the victim as 22-year-old Joshlyn Dyson. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Memphis Murder Map 2025 Investigators collected video and evidence from the scene and developed the 17-year-old male as the suspect. Wednesday, MPD Fugitive Unit located the 17-year-old in the 1200 block of Greenwood Street and took him into custody. Authorities release updated possible picture of escaped inmate Grant Hardin
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The search for escaped Arkansas inmate Grant Hardin has continued for more than a week. Authorities have released a new headshot depicting what Hardin might look like as the search for him continues. Hardin, 56, is a former police chief in northwest Arkansas who escaped from the North Central Unit in Calico Rock on May 25. He was serving a sentence for rape and murder. The combined reward from authorities for information leading to the capture of Hardin has risen to $25,000. Authorities say Hardin is 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 259 pounds.
