Steve Irwin's daughter, the conservationist Bindi Irwin, is having a great year. In February, her children's picture book You Are A Wildlife Warrior was published. Then in March, she celebrated her fifth wedding anniversary with husband Chandler Powell, and the fourth birthday of their daughter Grace Warrior, who got a Bluey-themed party at the family's Australia Zoo, per Bindi's Instagram.
The family enjoyed a road trip across Byron Bay and Sydney in April, and little Grace also got her first haircut that month, which Irwin recorded and shared on her Instagram.

Thai elephant raids convenience store, eats snacks and leaves without paying

A convenience store in northeastern Thailand has had to contend with an unusual shoplifter – a large male elephant who scoffed down boxes of rice crackers before casually walking out. Advertisement The daylight robbery has gone viral in Thailand after the 'Here is Khao Yai' Facebook page posted a video on Monday afternoon showing the giant creature – known locally as Plai Biang Lek – ambling into the shop, head brushing the ceiling, guzzling snacks, and then strolling out. The local store, in Pak Chong district, about three hours northeast of Bangkok, is not far from Khao Yai National Park, where wild elephants are frequently seen leaving protected areas to forage for food. Thais chuckled at the unexpected human-elephant interaction in a region where such encounters, while not uncommon, rarely play out in convenience stores. 'Would you like some pork buns?' one Facebook user quipped, while others teased the elephant for its apparent criminality.

Hong Kong display strikes gold at Chelsea Flower Show with rare orchids

The Chelsea Flower Show, held in London every summer for more than a century, is a British institution drawing around 150,000 gardening enthusiasts to enjoy spectacular floral displays. Advertisement This year, there was an exhibit with a difference, featuring rare orchids from Hong Kong and other parts of Asia and the Pacific. The vibrant display, with orchids from Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden in the New Territories, won a coveted gold medal and was visited by Queen Camilla. It also sent a powerful message about the need to protect the ecologically significant but endangered plants. 'We have got 150,000 bees in to look at the orchids,' said John Parke Wright IV, chairman of Orchid Conservation Chelsea, referring to the show's visitors. 'They are being pollinated with ideas about conservation and why it is important.' The Hong Kong section at the Chelsea Flower Show.
