Bravo Star Janet Caperna Flees America After Death Threats From Viewers

Yahoo5 hours ago
, one of the most controversial stars on "The Valley," has fled the United States and locked down her social media accounts after receiving death threats and relentless trolling from viewers.
The 35-year-old personality, who plays the role of the main antagonist on the Bravo reality show, left for Switzerland this week with her husband, Jason, and their 18-month-old son, Cameron.
Janet Caperna made the difficult decision to secure her Instagram page, where online trolls had relentlessly harassed her.
In a series of vile messages, these trolls not only targeted Caperna herself but also her child.
One message read, 'I hope you rot like you deserve,' while another cruelly stated, 'I hope your child grows up absolutely hating you.'
Even more disturbing, some individuals went so far as to write, 'I know where you live. I've seen where your son goes when you're not with him.'
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Janet spoke out about the ongoing abuse, condemning how serious and dangerous online trolling has become. 'I'm sick of threats and slurs being normalized because 'we signed up for this when we joined reality TV,'' she said. 'That's sick and not normal, and I'm not ever going to pretend it's normal or acceptable to message strangers threats and slurs.'
Janet also revealed that the situation has taken a toll on her mental health. 'It's sad to me that people go this far, it's definitely the worst part about this 'job.''
She emphasized that while she understands that reality TV invites some criticism, there is a line that should not be crossed. 'This isn't constructive criticism. I understand that I put my life out there, but this isn't that,' she explained.
In the latest episode of her podcast, "This Side of the Hill," Janet opened up further, sharing some of the worst messages she had received.
One particularly harrowing message read, "I hope you die a slow and painful death, you are so ugly. Are you actually a man? You are evil and I wish death upon you, you piece of sh-t.'
Another stated, 'It's a shame your son is still breathing you little [racial slur] lover.'
Perhaps even more shocking to Janet and her podcast co-host, Jared Lipscomb, was the discovery that many of the hateful messages were coming from seemingly 'normal and sweet' women.
One of the women who had sent threatening messages was a family photographer, while another, who made crude remarks about Janet's son, had photos of herself with her own young child on social media.
Janet's frustration and sadness over the situation have prompted her to reflect on the duality of people's behavior in real life versus online.
'It makes me wonder, how many people throughout my day am I interacting with that are like this behind closed doors?' she said. 'Like, when I'm checking out at the grocery store, is that person messaging someone that they don't like hate like this?'
Adding to the drama, Janet also spoke about a former friend who had interacted with negative comments about her online.
She hinted at Kristen Doute, another co-star, who had responded to a comment questioning the safety of Janet's child with a laughing emoji. "I'm so disappointed in that," Janet said.
Meanwhile, "The Valley" is nearing the end of its explosive second season and is gearing up for season three. Fans have been vocal on social media, calling for the firing of both Janet and longtime villain .
Janet's ongoing feuds with co-stars Kristen Doute, Nia Sanchez, and Danny Booko have left viewers divided, while Jax has stirred controversy through his actions toward estranged wife Brittany Cartwright, including spying on her through security cameras and sending a series of "rage texts" while in rehab for mental health and addiction issues.
Despite the backlash, there are currently no decisions regarding the cast. A source close to production revealed to Daily Mail that the network is considering expanding the cast rather than cutting people.
"Fans are always calling for controversial people to be fired, but it's usually to the detriment of the show," the insider explained. "The network is worried that if they get rid of all the villains, the show will suffer, so they're leaning toward expanding the cast rather than reducing it."
With production for the next season already underway, new cast members and their friends are being considered to add to the dynamic of the show, ensuring that no one is forced to film with people they don't want to be around.

Joey Chestnut wins record breaking 17th Nathan's Famous Hot Dog contest

The legend of Joey Chestnut added another chapter on July 4, as he captured his 17th title at the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest. Held as always at Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York, the annual Independence Day tradition once again showcased Chestnut's dominance in the world of competitive eating. Chestnut was back in the event after missing the 2024 event due to sponsorship drama with Impossible Foods. Patrick Bertoletti won the event with 58 hot dogs and buns. Following the famous introductions from George Shea: "And he will not stop until he stands side by side with the gods. Ladies and gentlemen...... Joey Chestnut." Chestnut won the event by eating 70.5 hot dogs and buns. His first minute, he saw 11 hot dogs and buns, and by 2:00 he was at 20. After 3:00, Chestnut had a lead of 10 hot dogs and buns over Patrick Bertoletti. Chestnut had 38 after 4:00 of the contest. At the halfway point, Chestnut had downed 46 of them, at a blistering pace. With 4:00 to go, he was at 51, and 19 ahead of Bertoletti. He got to 56 after 7 minutes of the contest. In the final three minutes, Chestnut slowed down a little bit, getting to 60 to 2:00 to go. The next minute, he got only 5 of them in. The final minute, he downed 5 more to finish at 70. His previous record was 76 in 2021. James Webb finished third with 45.5 hot dogs and buns, while Patrick Bertoletti was second at 46.5. Thousands of fans gathered under the summer weather, of 78 degrees on Surf and Stillwell Avenues, just outside the original Nathan's Famous hot dog stand, to watch the most anticipated eating competition of the year. The crowd, waving American flags and chanting Joey's name, created a festive yet intense atmosphere. Joey Chestnut first entered the spotlight in 2005, when he qualified for the Nathan's contest and immediately challenged then-champion Takeru Kobayashi. The following year, Chestnut broke the American record, setting the stage for a rivalry that brought global attention to competitive eating. In 2007, Chestnut finally dethroned Kobayashi and began his reign at the top. Since then, Chestnut has gone hand and hand with the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. His consistency and drive have made him a fan favorite and a sports icon in his own right. Beyond hot dogs, he holds records in dozens of other eating disciplines, from chicken wings to apple pie. With his 17th Nathan's title, Chestnut extends his own record for most wins in the event's history. At 41 years old, he continues to train year-round and shows no signs of slowing down. The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest dates back to 1916 and has become a staple of Independence Day celebrations across the United States. Televised nationally and streamed around the world, it mixes pageantry with athleticism and absurdity in a uniquely American way. Miki Sudo won her 11th Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest on the women's side with 33 hot dogs and buns.

Joey Chestnut vows to return for 2026 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest

Joey Chestnut claimed his 17th Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest title on Friday, and we can probably go ahead and write in No. 18 for the GOAT because he's already vowing to return in 2026 to defend his latest mustard belt. After a year away due to a sponsorship dispute, Chestnut returned in 2025 to smash the competition with 70.5 hot dogs put down, but he apparently wasn't satisfied with Friday's performance. Chestnut said he'll be pushing for a record next Fourth of July, which would mean beating his own mark of 76 hots dogs eaten set in 2021. I wouldn't bet against him.
