Duality AI Partners with CoVar on DARPA Program to Define Ethical Standards for Future Military Autonomous Systems
SAN MATEO, Calif., May 19, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Duality AI, the company behind Falcon, a leading digital twin simulation platform, today announced its partnership with CoVar to support the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's (DARPA) Autonomy Standards and Ideals with Military Operational Values (ASIMOV) program. The timely goal of ASIMOV is to establish a common framework to evaluate the ethical alignment of future autonomous systems with established U.S. military operational values, including military ethics, the laws of war, and the commander's intent.
ASIMOV's mission is to define a way for assessing the ethical challenges posed by AI and autonomous system decision-making in complex scenarios by creating a robust, quantitative framework for evaluating their ethical readiness. As these systems rapidly transition from research labs into real-world deployment, the need for such a framework is quickly becoming imperative. To address this challenge, the program incorporates an Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications (ELSI) advisory group that will aid in establishing a common language for analyzing the ethical performance of autonomous systems.
Duality AI joins CoVar's multidisciplinary team as a key contributor to their ethical testing infrastructure for autonomous systems called GEARS or Gauging Ethical Autonomous Reliable Systems. Vital to GEAR's success is Falcon's capability to simulate autonomous system performance with precision, and output comprehensive data needed to analyze the efficacy of its actions against ground truth knowledge. To support these efforts, Duality is providing high-fidelity digital twins of environments, systems, and agents—both human and vehicular—enabling the creation of a wide range of operationally relevant scenarios. Falcon's seamless integration with autonomous system software allows for in-the-loop simulations, driven by synthetic data streaming from multi-modal virtual sensors including electro-optical, IR, LiDAR, and RADAR. Additionally, Falcon's flexibility to procedurally create environments and scenarios from diverse input sources is a key feature for the collaboration.
"Falcon will let us rapidly create and simulate a large variety of required ethical scenarios," says Dr. Pete Torrione, CTO of CoVar. "With GEARS we are defining a new mathematics of ethics, where ethical scenarios and commander's intent are represented by knowledge graphs. Falcon's capability to ingest these graphs and procedurally generate simulation-ready scenarios is vital for a framework designed to evaluate the ethical readiness of an autonomous system."
Since its founding, Duality has been helping customers leverage digital twin simulation as the safe, ethical, and viable way for AI and autonomous systems to transition from the lab into the real world.
"We're thrilled to be partnering with CoVar on the ASIMOV program," says Apurva Shah, CEO of Duality AI. "As a leader in developing responsible AI/ML solutions, CoVar is the ideal partner with whom to advance one of our main goals: helping to transition AI into the real world safely, responsibly, and reliably. During a time of justifiable apprehension about the increasing role of AI in our world, leveraging Falcon towards evolving more ethical AI is a critical endeavor and we're honored to partner with CoVar and contribute to this important program."
With ASIMOV, Duality joins a team of professors of Ethics, widely published authors in the fields of Ethics and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Trust, engineers, and ethicists with combat command experience. Through the learnings from this program, the GEARS quantitative approach will have a broader impact throughout the autonomy community.

monday.com Ltd. (MNDY) Is Part Of The 'Enterprise Software Revulsion,' Says Jim Cramer
We recently published . Ltd. (NASDAQ:MNDY) is one of the stocks Jim Cramer recently discussed. Ltd. (NASDAQ:MNDY) is an Israeli software company that develops and provides enterprise-focused products. Its shares have lost 22.8% year-to-date on the back of a stunning 29.8% drop in August, which underscores the brutal sentiment surrounding enterprise software in the age of AI. Ltd. (NASDAQ:MNDY) earnings were a negative catalyst, as even though the firm beat analyst and revenue estimates, the fact that its Q3 midpoint revenue guidance of $312 million missed analyst estimates of $313 million along with a conservative guidance hike and a weak Q2 beat were devastating for the shares. Here is what Cramer said about Ltd. (NASDAQ:MNDY): 'What I have here in my hand, Josh Baer . . .who upgrades, Morgan Stanley upgrades after, brutal, look at that, that's actually a decline. Now, why was Monday down? Monday is a company that does work processes. . . it's like a junior ServiceNow if you want to. Now it happened to have the misfortune of reporting on the same day that Ben Reitzes introduced the AI eats software, now actually a year and a half ago he actually coined that term so I don't know why people are thinking that he just did it. But this is all part of this, enterprise software revulsion. We don't want enterprise software, we want semiconductors. . .and I think that people should recognize that these companies are all being viewed as, let's say carrion, because what's happened is this that you can develop your own stuff that is better. Copyright: dolgachov / 123RF Stock Photo 'Look I just got to tell you I think that all these stocks are going to be shrinking in price-to-earnings multiples. You shouldn't be thinking about misses.' While we acknowledge the potential of MNDY as an investment, our conviction lies in the belief that some AI stocks hold greater promise for delivering higher returns and have limited downside risk. U.S. Senator Hawley launches probe into Meta AI policies
By Jody Godoy (Reuters) -U.S. Senator Josh Hawley launched a probe into Facebook parent Meta Platforms' artificial intelligence policies on Friday, demanding documents on rules that had allowed its artificial intelligence chatbots to 'engage a child in conversations that are romantic or sensual.' Both Democrats and Republicans in Congress have expressed alarm over the rules outlined in an internal Meta document first reported by Reuters on Thursday. Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, chairs the Senate subcommittee on crime and counterterrorism, which will investigate "whether Meta's generative-AI products enable exploitation, deception, or other criminal harms to children, and whether Meta misled the public or regulators about its safeguards," he said in a letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. "We intend to learn who approved these policies, how long they were in effect, and what Meta has done to stop this conduct going forward," Hawley said. Meta declined to comment on Hawley's letter on Friday. The company said previously that "the examples and notes in question were and are erroneous and inconsistent with our policies, and have been removed.' In addition to documents outlining those changes and who authorized them, Hawley sought earlier drafts of the policies along with internal risk reports, including on minors and in-person meetups. Reuters reported on Thursday about a retired man who died while traveling to New York on the invitation of a Meta chatbot. Meta must also disclose what it has told regulators about its generative AI protections for young users or limits on medical advice, according to Hawley's letter. Hawley has often criticized Big Tech. He held a hearing in April on Meta's alleged attempts to gain access to the Chinese market which were referenced in a book by former Facebook executive Sarah Wynn-Williams.

Why Empathy Is The Operating System For Change
Work is changing—fast. AI is rewriting task loads. Org charts are flattening and reforming. Markets are in constant flux on any given day. And humans are feeling it. These humans are working in your organization and are responsible for ensuring your success. Gallup's latest global snapshot shows 'only 21% of employees were engaged in 2024, manager engagement fell to 27%, and just 33% of employees say they're 'thriving' in life overall' — and disengagement alone 'cost the world economy an estimated $438 billion' last year. That's not a soft-skills problem; that's an ROI and productivity problem. Meanwhile, headlines boast a 'back to toughness' posture among organizational leaders—mandates, cuts, and less patience for 'feelings.' As Business Insider reports, some leaders are rolling back pandemic-era empathy practices, pushing return-to-office and cost controls despite evidence that productivity gains are coming 'in part from AI efficiencies.' Employees will remember how they're treated at this moment. And when employees are not seen, heard, and valued, engagement, innovation, and productivity suffer.. Here's the hard truth: All of this transformation is about classic change management. And change management is human management. When bringing people along on any change, this requires getting back to human essentials: listening, collaboration, and empathy. Empathy isn't coddling; it's a strategic tool that keeps people whole, focused, and performance-focused while you rewire the plane mid-flight. And no, organizations cannot outsource that human capital work to AI. Consider two more realities: What Empathy Looks Like in Practice (and Why It Works) 3 Moves Leaders Can Make This Quarter 1. Implement Empathy Practices That Scale Start every change sprint with a 'context + care' brief: what's changing, why it matters to customers, what it means for jobs, and where people can get help. Make manager 1:1s non-negotiable (15 minutes, weekly) with two prompts: 'What's blocking you?' and 'What's one change I can make to help this week?' Track participation and themes; publish quick wins. These rituals boost perceived care and reduce friction in adoption. When empathy is modeled, acknowledged, and rewarded, it sets the tone for everyone that this is how success happens here. 2. Invest in Training for 'EPOCH' Skills—Especially for Managers Run micro-labs on empathy interviewing, decision transparency, ethical judgment with AI, and constructive dissent or feedback. Tie completion to manager goals; assess via behavior checklists (e.g., 'names the tradeoff,' 'offers rationale,' 'invites counter-evidence,' "solicits other viewpoints'). Assess if engagement and well-being are on the rise in teams led by trained managers, who have previously shown the sharpest declines. Then you know that the training is working. 3. Measure What Matters: Engagement + Wellbeing in the Same Dashboard Pair your engagement pulse with wellbeing indicators ('thriving,' 'struggling,' 'suffering,' burnout risk, perceived organizational care). Segment by role and change exposure; intervene fast where thriving is low and change is high. Treat spikes in 'struggling' as an early-warning signal for missed deadlines, high turnover, and declining quality. Bottom line: AI, shifting generations, competitive pressures, and volatile markets aren't going away. Your sustainable advantage is a culture where people - especially your managers - feel respected, informed, and equipped to adapt. That's not 'being nice.' That's how to fortify your team to win.
