2PointZero's Maseera acquires Egypt's ADVA to accelerate AI-powered financial inclusion across North Africa
Abu Dhabi, UAE – Maseera Holding for Financial Investments ('Maseera'), a portfolio company of 2PointZero, a transformational global investment platform and a subsidiary of International Holding Company (IHC), today announced the successful acquisition of ADVA, an innovative Egyptian consumer finance platform. This strategic transaction establishes ADVA as Maseera's dedicated technology and data analytics hub for North Africa and marks a critical milestone in Maseera's regional expansion strategy.
Founded in 2020, ADVA has emerged as a trailblazer in Egypt's fintech sector, offering tailored financing for essential services such as healthcare and education. The platform has built an impressive track record serving Egypt's underserved middle- and low-income segments, which represents demographics that are often overlooked by traditional financial institutions. Its proprietary AI-driven credit scoring model utilizes alternative data, including mobile usage insights, to underwrite first-time borrowers and unlock access to finance at scale.
This move is part of Maseera's broader growth strategy following its acquisition by 2PointZero. As announced earlier this year, 2PointZero has committed USD 1 billion in long-term capital to support Maseera's mission of building a transcontinental platform focused on financial inclusion, initially targeting key underserved markets across the globe.
'In ADVA, we found a company that shares our vision and values, particularly the belief that financial services must be accessible, affordable, and human-centered,' said Amro Abouesh, CEO of Maseera. 'Together, we will harness the power of data and AI to deliver transformative financial solutions tailored to Egypt's middle and low-income segments'.
By integrating Maseera's advanced AI technologies, the combined platform is poised to redefine the customer experience in digital finance, creating faster, more inclusive, and highly personalized lending solutions for underserved populations across Egypt.
As part of its next phase of growth, ADVA has applied for Egypt's first digital consumer finance license, a regulatory breakthrough that will enable end-to-end onboarding through electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) procedures and legally binding e-signatures. This move positions ADVA to dramatically reduce barriers to access for over 50 million underbanked Egyptians, in alignment with national priorities for financial inclusion and digital transformation.
Following the acquisition, ADVA will exclusively focus on Egypt's consumer finance market, developing tailored financial products for essential life needs while enhancing credit access for historically underserved groups.
The transaction is fully aligned with Egypt's national digital transformation and financial inclusion agenda. It also reinforces Maseera's, and by extension, 2PointZero's, commitment to building sustainable, impact-driven platforms that empower communities and unlock scalable value across emerging markets.

Egypt Launches Standardised Reporting Framework for Startups and Investors
Egypt's Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), backed by World Bank, has collaborated with several venture capital firms and the US-based platform to introduce a standardised portfolio reporting framework for startups and investors across the country. Led by Foundation Ventures, the initiative includes participation from Algebra Ventures, Sawari Ventures, Shorooq Partners, Endure Capital, Camel Ventures, DenVC, LoftyInc Capital, DisrupTech Ventures, and the Climate Resilient Africa Fund. The aim is to establish common metrics, reporting timelines, and formats, addressing the longstanding issue of inconsistent data practices within Egypt's startup ecosystem. Although Egypt's startup scene has expanded significantly in recent years, inconsistent reporting standards remain a key challenge. Startups frequently contend with producing varied reports to meet different investor requirements, while venture capital firms face difficulties in assessing portfolio performance due to the absence of unified benchmarks. The initiative seeks to simplify reporting processes for both general partners (GPs) and portfolio companies through a centralised data platform designed to enhance transparency, reliability, and operational efficiency. 'We are excited about enhancing Egypt's investment attractiveness by providing the necessary transparency to encourage foreign direct investment,' said Mazen Nadim, Managing Partner at Foundation Ventures. Following a competitive selection process, was chosen to develop and operate the platform. The company is working in partnership with Egyptian GPs to tailor the system to local requirements and workflows. The platform is expected to be fully implemented by the end of the second quarter of 2025, with the first comprehensive ecosystem report anticipated by mid-2026. By introducing a unified reporting framework, the effort is expected to ease administrative burdens for startups, provide greater clarity for investors, and strengthen Egypt's position as a destination for regional and international venture capital.

Egypt Founder Leads Limited to $7M Raise for Global Stablecoin Banking Expansion
Limited, a US-based next-generation fintech startup offering stablecoin-based global banking services with self-custody, has secured US$7 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by North Island Ventures, with additional participation from existing backers Third Prime and Arche Capital, as well as new investors Collab+Currency and SevenX Ventures. This brings the company's total funding to US$10 million since its founding in 2024. Founded by Hussein Ahmed, an Egyptian entrepreneur, Limited has developed a banking and payments platform that integrates the security of self-custody stablecoins with the functionality of traditional banking services. Available on iOS, Android, and web, the platform is accessible in 176 countries and enables users, both individuals and businesses, to access global payment systems while retaining full control of their funds via self-custody wallets. The platform also includes tiered Visa and Mastercard offerings and cross-border payment tools that support over 300 local payment methods in more than 80 currencies. 'With stablecoin transaction volumes exceeding $30 trillion annually and global remittance fees averaging 6.3%, we've created a solution that finally resolves the traditional tradeoff between self-custody security and ease of use,' said Ahmed. 'This funding will accelerate our growth in high-opportunity markets across Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, where demand for borderless financial services is strongest.' Unlike earlier fintech models that largely built on existing financial infrastructure, Limited offers a platform designed from the ground up, merging usability with enterprise-grade security. The company aims to meet the growing demand for more secure, globally accessible financial tools, especially in emerging markets where traditional banking services may fall short.

Sterling holds its own against stronger dollar, trade optimism lends supports
Sterling ticked higher against the dollar on Thursday, one of the few major currencies to hold its own against the greenback which regained ground after weak U.S. data dragged it lower on Wednesday. The pound was up 0.14% at $1.3574, while against the euro it was up 0.1% at 84.16 pence. Sterling remains a touch away from a more than three-year high hit on May 26, underpinned by ongoing dollar weakness with the pound up over 8% this year. Also helping is the fact the UK is the only country to have struck a trade deal with the U.S and was spared from higher U.S. steel and aluminium tariffs, though analysts question how beneficial those factors are. "The trade deal does matter," said Chris Beauchamp, chief market analyst at IG Group. "You might argue it's not a proper trade deal and that it doesn't solve all the problems, but at least it's a sign that there's a more compelling reason to hold the pound rather than be worrying about the euro," Beauchamp added. The Bank of England (BoE) will meet on June 19 to deliver its next policy decision with market bets firmly on the monetary policy committee (MPC) keeping rates steady. There had been expectations of a further 25 bps cut from the BoE at its June meeting but bets were slashed following weak economic data and a hotter-than-expected inflation read last month. On Tuesday, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey said he was sticking with a "gradual and careful" approach to cutting interest rates as global trade policy turmoil increasingly clouds the outlook. Reassurance came on Wednesday with a survey showing Britain's services sector returned to tepid growth last month. (Reporting by Lucy Raitano and Johann M Cherian, Editing by Ed Osmond)
