2025 MLB Draft Odds: Ethan Holliday Clear Favorite To Go No. 1

Fox News4 hours ago

The 2025 MLB Draft is less than a month away with the two-day event occurring July 13-14 during MLB All-Star Week in Atlanta.
The Washington Nationals are gearing up to make the No. 1 pick, and bettors are diving into the action and wagering on which prospect will come off the board first.
Currently, Ethan Holliday is at the top of the board at -110. He's the son of former MLB infielder Matt Holliday and brother of Orioles' second baseman Jackson Holliday.
For what it's worth, Jackson was drafted with the No. 1 pick in the 2022 draft.
Will another prospect rain on the Holliday family or is Ethan far enough ahead of the field that the No. 1 spot is his to lose?
Here are the latest odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of June 23.
Number 1 Pick 2025 MLB Draft
Ethan Holliday: -110 (bet $10 to win $19.09 total)Kade Anderson: +210 (bet $10 to win $31 total)Seth Hernandez: +900 (bet $10 to win $100 total)Liam Doyle: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)Jamie Arnold: +1200 (bet $10 to win $130 total)Aiva Arquette: +1300 (bet $10 to win $140 total)Any Other Player: +1500 (bet $10 to win $160 total)Billy Carlson: +6500 (bet $10 to win $660 total)Kyson Witherspoon: +8000 (bet $10 to win $810 total)Jace LaViolette: +15000 (bet $10 to win $1,510 total)
Ethan is the clear favorite at -110, but Kade Anderson is not too far behind at +210.
Anderson has gone 12-1 with a 3.18 ERA this season over 19 starts for the LSU Tigers.
After Holliday and Anderson, there's a sizable gap. Highly touted high school prospect Seth Hernandez rounds out the top three at +900.
Hernandez is the 6-foot-4, 18-year-old phenom from Corona, Ca., who has committed to take his pitching talents to Vanderbilt. In his junior year in high school, he went 9-0 with a 0.62 ERA while hitting .352 with eight home runs and 34 RBIs, which helped the right-hander earn Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year honors.

Michigan tops Alabama for 4-star DL Titan Davis: How big of a recruiting win is this?

Michigan notched another win against Alabama on Monday with a commitment from four-star defensive end Titan Davis, the top-rated defensive line prospect in the Midwest in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Davis, who attends DeSmet High School in St. Louis, is No. 101 in the composite rankings and No. 13 among defensive linemen. His commitment gives Michigan its biggest recruiting win of the summer so far and another head-to-head victory against the Crimson Tide, the program Michigan beat in bowl games the past two years. Davis also considered USC and Penn State before narrowing his list to Michigan and Alabama. His commitment came on the heels of a weekend visit to Ann Arbor, where he was joined by several of Michigan's top targets in the Class of 2026. IM HOME #GoBlue 〽️〽️ — Titan Davis (@TitanDavis97) June 24, 2025 Michigan's class began the day at No. 39 in the composite rankings but has started to pick up steam, particularly on the defensive line. Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito has strong ties in the Midwest and has landed two of the region's top prospects in Davis and McHale Blade, a four-star defensive end from Chicago. Michigan also landed a recent commitment from Alister Vallejo, a 310-pound defensive tackle from Liberty Hill, Texas. Advertisement Davis already looks the part of a college defensive lineman at 6 feet 4 and 270 pounds and had a productive junior season at DeSmet with 46 tackles, 9 sacks and 18 tackles for loss. Depending on how he develops, he could give Michigan another athletic interior lineman or a big-bodied edge rusher in the mold of former Wolverine Mike Morris. He's currently the top-rated defensive player in Michigan's 2026 class and the No. 2 prospect overall behind quarterback Brady Smigiel. With June official visits complete, dominoes could start falling quickly for uncommitted players in the Class of 2026. Michigan has addressed quarterback, tight end and defensive line but still has needs at wide receiver, running back and offensive line. Michigan has made inroads with five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell ahead of his planned July 5 announcement, though the Wolverines face an uphill battle. Now that players have made their official visits, it's likely that the pieces will start falling into place on the offensive line, where Michigan's top targets include Malakai Lee, Felix Ojo, Kelvin Obot and Zaden Krempin. Along with bigger-bodied players like Davis and Blade, Michigan typically looks for defenders in the 230-pound range who can provide length and speed on the edge. Carter Meadows, a top-100 prospect from Washington, D.C., fits that description and would be a natural fit in Michigan's class alongside three-star prospect Tariq Boney. Michigan filled one of its running back spots this weekend with a commitment from Jonathan Brown, a three-star prospect from Columbus, Ohio, which leaves plenty of room for five-star prospect Savion Hiter should he pick the Wolverines. Another player to watch is defensive back Andre Clark, a four-star prospect from Richmond, Va., who plans to announce a decision next Monday.

Bullis closes another dominant season with six titles at New Balance Nationals

Bullis track coach Joe Lee still remembers the anticipation he felt at New Balance Nationals in 2017. The Bulldogs won multiple national championships that spring, his fifth with the team. That was when Lee realized his program was starting to build something special. But Lee said he never would have imagined the kind of sustained success the Bulldogs have basked in since. After adding six national titles at the New Balance outdoor meet in Philadelphia over the weekend, the Bulldogs are up to 51 championships during Lee's tenure. 'This year has presented a new challenge,' Lee said. 'When you have this level of success and talent, then the question is 'Where do you go from here?'… The bar was raised pretty high for us, but every time the bar is raised, our kids stepped up.' The Bullis girls' team won four of those six titles, prevailing in the 4x100-meter, 4x200-meter and 4x400-meter relays as well as the shuttle hurdles. The Bulldogs set the meet record in the 4x100 (44.80 seconds), and their shuttle hurdles title was their fifth in a row at New Balance Outdoor Nationals; that's the longest active streak in any event. While many teams use the same athletes for the sprint relays, Bullis used seven runners across the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400. Only one of those seven, senior Tatum Lynn, was on the shuttle hurdles team. While the Bullis girls' team had several athletes win multiple championships, senior Sydney Sutton, a Florida signee and the girls' indoor track All-Met Athlete of the Year, nearly finished with as many as five. Sutton was part of the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams and was second in the 400 and the 400-meter hurdles. She finished a combined 0.14 seconds behind the winner of those races and bested the previous meet records in both. Her times (51.23 in the 400 and 56.04 in the 400 hurdles) are top-10 all-time. 'There's no limits for [Sutton] because she can hurdle, she can sprint, she can relay,' Lee said. 'She even wants to long jump — I told her no. But she can do anything.' On the boys' side, the Bulldogs won the 4x400, and junior Quincy Wilson, who won his third All-Met Athlete of the Year award in the indoor season, won the individual 400 title in 45.37. Bullis was aiming to break the 4x400 national high school record, which it set at Penn Relays in April. The near-100-degree heat made that difficult, so the Bulldogs had to settle for a meet record (3 minutes 8.28 seconds), breaking their mark from a year ago. Wilson anchored the relay Sunday, following senior Alexander Lambert, sophomore Cameron Homer (who was third in the 400) and senior Colin Abrams. 'It's been a different season for [Wilson], because when you're 16 years old and you go back home with an Olympic gold medal … I mean, the world changes for you,' Lee said. 'He's handled it with such grace and class and dignity and honor.' The other local champions were Archbishop Carroll and St. John's. The Lions won the boys' 4x200, and junior Vance Harris won the high jump. The Cadets won the mixed 4x400. Carroll set a meet record in the 4x200 (1:23.64) despite adding two new runners to the lineup: Senior Farraj Al-Amin and sophomore Jonas Frone joined juniors Keenen Davis and Jake Odey-Jordan. The quartet bested Bullis by 0.31 seconds. Harris struggled early in the high jump, twice failing to clear 6 feet 5½ inches. But he stuck with it and won the title by clearing 6-9½. 'It was just really, really a balanced effort in the field and on the track,' Carroll Coach Rafiu Bakare said. 'The team just came together and performed at their highest level at the moment when you needed it.'

Mets send rookie infielder Luisangel Acuña to minors in roster shuffle

NEW YORK (AP) — Rookie infielder Luisangel Acuña was sent to the minors by the slumping New York Mets amid a flurry of roster moves Monday. New York also signed left-handed reliever Richard Lovelady to a one-year deal and selected the contract of outfielder Travis Jankowski from Triple-A Syracuse. Both were available for the opener of a four-game series against Atlanta. Acuña, the younger brother of Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr., was optioned to Syracuse along with right-handed reliever Tyler Zuber following Sunday night's 7-1 loss at Philadelphia. Before that game, the Mets demoted another touted youngster to Syracuse: catcher Francisco Alvarez. New York had lost eight of nine going into Monday, falling a game behind the first-place Phillies in the NL East. Acuña, acquired from Texas in 2023 for three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer, has scuffled lately at the plate after hitting .308 with six steals to earn NL rookie of the month honors for March/April. The 23-year-old has slumped to a .241 batting average and largely been relegated to pinch running and defensive-replacement duties. He is expected to receive regular playing time at Syracuse. In other news, ace pitcher Kodai Senga, speaking through a translator, told reporters his injured right hamstring feels 'great' and he hopes to throw off a mound soon. Senga, injured covering first base June 12 against Washington, believes a rehab assignment is 'on the horizon.' After being limited to one start during the 2024 regular season because of shoulder and calf injuries, Senga was brilliant in his first 13 starts this year, going 7-3 with a 1.47 ERA. Jankowski signed a minor league contract with New York on June 10. He is playing on his third major league team in 2025, after spending time with the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays. He received a spring training invite from the Chicago Cubs but was released on March 12. Jankowski appeared in 43 games for the Mets in 2022. He played college ball at Stony Brook University, located on Long Island less than 40 miles from Citi Field. Lovelady had been pitching at Triple-A St. Paul in the Minnesota Twins organization before getting released last week. The 29-year-old reliever had a 1.31 ERA in 19 outings. Lovelady made two appearances for Toronto in March and also has pitched for the Royals, Rays, Athletics and Cubs during a six-year career. He is 5-13 with a 5.26 ERA and three saves in 110 games, holding left-handed hitters to a .232 batting average. Right-hander Frankie Montas is expected to be reinstated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday to make his Mets debut. Montas, signed to a $34 million, two-year contract in December, has been sidelined since spring training with a right lat strain. In another roster move, outfielder Jose Siri (left tibia fracture) was transferred to the 60-day IL. ___ AP MLB:
