Another Ul-Haq ton helps Yorks to One-Day Roses win
Group B leaders Yorkshire maintained their 100% start to this season's One-Day Cup as they confidently chased 295 to beat Lancashire by seven wickets thanks to a second successive century for in-form overseas opener Imam-ul-Haq.The White Rose won their third successive game, beating the previously unbeaten Red Rose, who had won one and had the other washed out.Lancashire posted 294-7 thanks largely to an entertaining opening 102 off 88 balls from Michael Jones in front of a sell-out 4,500 crowd at Clifton Park in York.But Ul-Haq was the cornerstone of Yorkshire's reply with 117 off 124 balls and he shared a defining 153 for the second wicket with Will Luxton, who hit 77 off 63, as the hosts won with 19 balls to spare.Pakistani left-hander Ul-Haq, who hit 10 fours and five sixes during Tuesday's innings, is now the leading run-scorer in this season's One-Day Cup with 331.He scored a career-best 159 in victory at Northamptonshire last Friday.
Earlier, Ormskirk-born ex-Red Rose Jones posted his first century since rejoining Lancashire from Durham over the winter. He reached a 33-ball 50 and helped them to 100-1 in the 18th over.Either side of losing George Bell lbw playing to leg against two-wicket seamer Jack White, Jones hoisted three sixes over long-on and long-off and hit one arrow straight off Ben Coad's seam.He later pulled successive sixes off Matthew Revis towards the latter stages of a 92-run stand with his captain Marcus Harris, who was the first of two wickets to fall in as many overs as the score fell to 136-3 in the 24th.Harris was caught behind driving at Revis for 32 before Coad trapped Josh Bohannon lbw without scoring.Jones reached his century off 79 balls and hit seven sixes in all. But the visitors were checked impressively through the middle of their innings.They were limited to 40 runs from the end of the 25th over - 143-3 - to the end of the 35th, where they reached 183-4 having lost Jones slicing White out to deep cover.Replays suggest George Balderson was reprieved on 18 as he pulled Dan Moriarty for four. Him stepping on off-stump in the process went unnoticed by the umpires.Balderson made a dynamic 70 off 48 balls as Lancashire fell just short of 300 in excellent batting conditions.Tom Bailey had Adam Lyth caught behind driving early in Yorkshire's chase, which fell to 16-1.But Luxton kicked things into life by taking three fours and six - all through leg - off Will Williams' first four balls, in the 11th over, as the score moved to 57-1.From there, Luxton and Imam cruised along against a Lancashire attack lacking depth, understandable with half a dozen bowlers on Hundred duty.By the time Luxton reached his 50 off 42 balls, Yorkshire were 107-1 after 20 overs. Australia's Owen out of rest of white-ball series after Rabada blow
MELBOURNE, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Australia all-rounder Mitchell Owen has been ruled out for the remainder of the white-ball series against South Africa due to a concussion after being struck on the helmet by Kagiso Rabada. Cricket Australia (CA) said on Thursday the Tasmanian passed a sideline assessment during the 53-run defeat in the second T20I in Darwin on Tuesday but later reported concussion symptoms. His mandatory 12-day stand-down period will see him miss the series decider in Cairns on Saturday and also a potential debut in the following ODI series. Batter Matt Short and fast bowler Lance Morris will also miss the ODI series with side and back injuries respectively. They were replaced in the squad by all-rounder Aaron Hardie and slow bowler Matthew Kuhnemann. Morris reported lower back soreness and has returned to Perth for further assessment, CA said. The T20I series is tied at 1-1, with Australia winning the first match in Darwin by 17 runs.

‘Very, very proud': Thomas Frank hails Tottenham players after PSG defeat
Thomas Frank described himself as 'very, very proud' of a Tottenham team that came within two minutes of a famous Uefa Super Cup win over Paris Saint-Germain. They were ultimately defeated on penalties after squandering a two-goal lead and their new manager was left to rue an inability to bend the outcome to their will in the shootout. Goals from Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero appeared to have rocket-launched Frank's tenure before Lee Kang-in and Gonçalo Ramos curtailed the celebrations. But the Dane saw plenty of encouragement in the way his players dominated their star-studded opponents for the first three quarters of the match. 'Very, very proud of the players, the team, the club, the fans,' he said. 'I think the players gave everything against one of the best teams in the world, maybe the best. I think for 75 to 80 minutes we were perfect, almost giving nothing away.' Tottenham were decisively undone when Van de Ven and Mathys Tel missed in the shootout but Frank was in no mood to apportion blame. 'It's down to the smallest of margins, like the flip of a coin,' he said. 'I'd like to thank all the players who stepped up, were brave and took responsibility.' Frank had set Spurs up with a back three and placed a heavy emphasis on set pieces, which they practised in the warm-up and deployed effectively for both goals. It recalled some of his best work with Brentford but he said the tactics had been honed specifically to trouble PSG. 'It was a special operation,' he said. 'In medical terms the operation succeeded but the patient died, so not that good in the end. But we worked on a gameplan that was a little bit different and very close to succeeding.' There were signs of a greater flexibility than Spurs had tended to exhibit under Frank's predecessor, Ange Postecoglou. 'We showed that we can be adaptable and pragmatic, and we needed to be against a team like PSG,' he said. 'The way we wanted to defend, high pressure and low defending, was top, almost perfect, and also the set pieces were very good and dangerous.' A Premier League opener with Burnley awaits on Saturday and, in the meantime, Spurs are attempting to sign the Manchester City forward Savinho and the Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze. 'We'd like to strengthen the squad, no doubt about that,' Frank said. 'We do work very hard to see if we can do that. In general I am very happy with the squad but in any transfer window we try to see if we can make the squad stronger before the window closes.' The PSG manager Luis Enrique praised Lucas Chevalier, the debutant goalkeeper, who replaced the seemingly outbound Gianluigi Donnarumma. Chevalier should have done better for Romero's goal but saved from Van de Ven in the shootout. 'He's shown personality and we want him to integrate with the team immediately,' he said. 'Everyone was talking about the situation, his wasn't easy, but he showed great character.'
